Bats is 75 years young actually.

Psst, put that S between the D and L. In other news we need a T.

If you throw an S in there it will at least complete most of the words even though we can't duplicate the E

Laurel Lance: Black Canary, Black Siren.
scarynikki12 replied to Lisin's topic in Characters of Arrow
This should have been the jumping off point for her character when the series began. Whatever else we think should have been done with her in relation to Oliver and becoming Black Canary, this would have driven home just how fractured Laurel herself was when the ship went down even though she was on the other side of the world and physically ok. I think they realized this mistake (Laurel was so well adjusted that her anger with Oliver didn't last very long even though his betrayal is the kind of thing that permanently severs relationships in real life) and are trying to retcon it, but it doesn't work now like it would have then. -
I'm sure it's just gossip. That said, I would imagine any discomfort that Nina's feeling likely comes from having to keep making out with Ian following the break up rather than him just having a new girlfriend and said discomfort would have started last year rather than this. Of course, she could genuinely want off the show and this could be the producers' way of getting the fans riled up to try and pressure her into staying (assuming the show even gets renewed). We know how much they love to feed the insanity on Twitter, so it's not out of the realm of possibility.

This is why she's my absolute favorite. I think the reason she didn't attack when Lili Taylor saw her was two fold. First, she didn't have the element of surprise (the locket probably fell as she was getting into position). Second, she probably saw Gordon coming from the side just before he took Taylor down and didn't need to attack like with the other man. She already trusts Gordon as much as she's capable and let him save her. If no cops had arrived I expect Selina would have tried to jump off the crates to avoid getting shot but they did so she didn't need to. I like what the show is doing with Selina. When we meet Selina in the comics she's almost always already full on Catwoman. We don't always get to see the steps she took to become the villain/heroine/anti-heroine we know her to be, so it's nice that we're seeing them now. I can't wait for more.

Laurel Lance: Black Canary, Black Siren.

As long as Laurel is under contract I'll be watching with an open mind. I want her to be relevant to the show and I want to like her since I've liked Cassidy in everything else. If the producers can pull that off there won't be any upset from my side, though pulling this off does not include throwing away other characters to give her this relevancy. -
You're remembering right, though he doesn't have an accent in the books (grew up in the US) so who knows what their ultimate plan for his heritage is supposed to be.

Cindy McClellan's recap of the episode (link in the Media thread) reminded me that Regina broke that mirror in her house. Broken mirrors mean seven years bad luck. Regina just screwed herself yet again.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode
scarynikki12 replied to CatLady's topic in Days Of Our Lives
I can only hope. If they do kill him I'd love it if Sami comes to her senses and gives a disparaging eulogy at his funeral. -
I think Talia was supposed to be a messenger from God or something. Her space station/ship falling to the Earth was a sign to Eph that he was the one to translate the Lumen and help save the day, but I expect the show will just have a random comet for that purpose.

Silver backed mirrors distort vampire reflections.

So, Walt wrote the book and the show is one big tribute to him? Or does this mean he's the Big Bad of 4B?

She made such a point about finding the writer so I'm thinking she's putting Marian aside for the moment in favor of her delusion that the writer of the book grants happy endings. If/when she finds whoever this person and learns that only she has the power to find her happy ending, then I expect she'll return to the plan to get rid of Marian via time travel. Because Regina won't truly learn anything until the final season when hashtags and shipping no longer matter.

Seeing the positive (so far) responses to the Frozen parts of the episode tells me that my spec from last spring was correct: that Disney was letting the show use the characters with an insane list of caveats. Elsa was sympathetic, Anna was a hoot, Kristoff and Sven were awesome, Arandelle was lovely, and, most importantly, the relationship between the sisters was spot on. I think the show has a designated Frozen consultant sent over from Disney who goes over each script, reports back to the studio heads, and then gives approval before they can proceed. No way will the current golden goose be allowed to look bad and, so far, the reactions are looking good.

You so should! There are dancing hippos!

Just to be safe I'm putting this under spoiler bars: Good point, though this show will undoubtedly reveal that Rumpel doubled as him too. That trope is getting so old yet I'm 100% confident we'll keep seeing it until the series finale.
-
It's nice to know that Regina still thinks she can get her happy ending the easy way rather than working for it. Rumple found a tall blue wizard hat. Does this mean Mickey's coming to town to enchant some broomsticks and flood Storybrooke? I like that the Enchanted Forest has a proper name. I really hope Regina fails in her "villains need happy endings" quest. She and Rumpel are still alive, not in prison, are being kissed up to by their victims, and are not being yelled at constantly by said victims. I'd say they already have happy endings.

Fall Preview: Should You Visit Gracepoint?
scarynikki12 replied to Primetimer's topic in Gracepoint [V]
When the show aired I read many times that it was a remake, but not of Forbrydelsen, of another non-English show. If those sources were incorrect, then my bad, but I do remember reading that it was a remake on many different occasions. -
Fall Preview: Should You Visit Gracepoint?

Broadchurch was already a remake of another show from.....I forget but somewhere on the Continent, so Constantinople is referring to the original, which is in a different language. -
What has always bothered me about Giada is her pretentiousness when it comes to pronunciation. I have no issue with her pronouncing Italian words with an Italian accent (though the way she says pasta drives me up the wall as it sounds more Midwestern than Italian but whatever), but she does it in such a way that it seems like she's expecting accolades for saying the words "correctly" (and I'd argue that me saying ravioli with an American accent can be correct, it just means I'm saying it with a different accent) and then looks down on those who don't say it the same way. So, it's no surprise to learn that she tops her own pretentiousness by putting the phonetic spellings of Italian words on her menus. Does she have someone go around and quiz the patrons on pronunciation? Does the person who says spaghetti "correctly" get a free dessert or something? Does no one working with her point out just how insulting this is?

He might exist, but the show won't be allowed to directly reference him. They could allude to him all they want but that's it. Anything more direct will need Warner Bros. approval and no way are they letting Batman anywhere near television, especially with the Superman sequel coming out in the next couple of years. Gotham's allowed to have Bruce Wayne but he's young enough that WB would never worry about the show going long enough to see him become Batman.

It's so hard for me to not spoil the non-book readers but I really want to reassure them that the Master won't look like this the entire series. He dumps Sardu's body and inhabits Bolivar in book 2 so he'll look far less silly, probably as early as next season.
-
To add, I remember when Lane and Dave first kissed, she actually started moving her body away from him. I was expecting the show to reveal that Lane realized she wasn't really into Dave but that was not the case. I don't know if it was direction or what but that, along with a lot of scenes between couples (not just Luke and Lorelai) came across as the two people not wanting to touch each other. It was weird.

Black Mask would actually be a cool choice, but I'd have him be the man behind the murder. Let him be both involved in the existing criminal underworld and lay the foundation for what he will become. Actually, I need to stop thinking about this because I'm going to convince myself that he's involved and will end up disappointed if he's not.
