  1. It's worse than that based on an earlier post that the idea was based on the movie 'Heaven Can Wait'. In that movie a man is taken before his time and can't be returned to his original body since it was cremated. So he's given the body of a freshly deceased man. Not the body of someone who's still alive and would be using the body if it weren't for the wish.
  2. I liked the acting in this, but there were so many things that I had a problem with. It wasn't Steve or Diana's fault that he was hijacking someone else's body, but the fact that neither of them cared about what they were doing to an innocent man was just horrible. The movie would have been better if her renouncing the wish was about the fact that they were doing something wrong instead of her losing her powers. What happened to Barbara and where her actions while under the influence of the stone reversed? (She may have killed that guy, at the very least he could have her arrested for assault). What happened to Max? It's great that he got to reconcile with his son, but people must have died due to his actions. Was he arrested off screen?
  3. Let me clarify. As I see it, he might know where the plane was found, but I'm not certain that it would have been there the whole time. It probably moved over time, so knowing the location the plane was found might not help if you're looking for it decades earlier.
  4. Doesn't the ice move to some degree in the arctic? If so could you use the location of an object found in the ice at one point to determine where it would have been in the past?
  5. And Ego is still out there either looking for Peter or deciding to keep having kids until one of them gives him what he wants. (Which would be a good idea for a what if story). As for the writer's theory about Steve, I think I have a way for it to work with the way time travel works in the MCU: Steve A helps defeat Thanos, returns all of the infinity stones, then goes back in time to live with Peggy. They don't do anything about Steve B (our Steve), Hydra, or anything else because they believe any changes may allow Thanos to succeed. Steve waits for Thanos to be defeated and Steve B to leave to return the infinity stones, then gives the replacement shield he and Peggy had made to Sam. Steve B then returns the infinity stones and goes back in time to live with Peggy B. They have a new shield made, but don't do anything about Steve C or any of the other issues. So every reality that defeats Thanos has a young Steve about to go back in time and an old Steve waiting for the young Steve to leave. Sure this idea is extremely convoluted, has Steve and Peggy acting out of character, and assumes that Peggy can work with Hydra sleeper agents for DECADES without batting an eye; but it (technically) works. (Or the writers are talking out of their asses. It makes me wonder how much of their script was changed by the Russo brothers).
  6. Bo Katan may be focused on the dark saber, but I've been thinking that the value of beskar armor has been mentioned a few times this season for a reason. My guess is that Gideon has the stolen beskar stockpiled somewhere and Mando will learn the location of the stockpile at the end of the season. Also, what happens if he gets the dark saber and access to a mountain of beskar? Will season three be about a potential Mandalorian civil war? (This is assuming that he doesn't get Bo Katan's help to take down Gideon. I'm thinking that S3 will be about the reuniting of the Mandalorians if that's the case).
  7. And he would have every right to be pissed if a studio has found a new way to screw creators. Personally I think WB is taking a big gamble here. They'll look like geniuses if theaters are closed for most of 2021, but will be out a lot of box office money if theaters open early enough.
  8. More like he reformed after the events of LOTR (similar to how Sauron reformed a few thousand years after losing to Isildur) and became the next dark lord. Basically he wasn't around when the ring was destroyed, so he didn't die.
  9. I remember reading something from Harry Turtledove and he mentioned his theory that the Witch King didn't die in LOTR. I then reread the relative scenes and he might be correct. I forget the exact language, but the two relative parts are his 'death' and when the other Nazgul died. For the first it didn't say that he died. It said that he wasn't seen again in that age of the world. For the second part it said that all of the Nazgul present when the ring was destroyed died. (All of the Nazgul other than the Witch King were present. Why use that wording if he was dead)? This would also make sense given given Tolkien's themes of everything (good and bad) diminishing. For evil overlords we go from Morgoth to Sauron to the Witch King.
  10. It's been years since I watched the Donner version so I might be getting some of the details wrong, but I think it was mentioned in the commentary or in an extra that the turning back time ending was originally filmed for Superman II. They decided to use it for the first movie at the last minute because it was a good ending and they had doubts that the first movie would do well. As for him beating up the guy after reversing time, I'm not a huge fan of that scene but I can live with it.
  11. It took me a moment to realize. In the MCU you need Pym Particles for time travel, so that would be the connection to Kang. My guess is that he's more likely to be the next Thanos or the next Loki then a one off villain. (Of course he could be a one off AND an ongoing villain. At this point in the comics it's taken granted that he can't be permanently defeated. He's spent so much of his life time traveling that there's multiple versions of him running around. One Kang's defeat may end up in his death, but another Kang will show up sooner or later).
  12. I'm wondering about the cult's reaction when their 'messiah' returns without having aged a day. (And what it would be like if the Swede took it over).
  13. I'm actually thinking he's a low level magneto since we've only seen him do this with metal objects.
  14. Itching, Me: That's not too bad. Gassy, Me: That'snot too bad. acute paranoia, Me: That's kinda bad. HOMICIDAL RAGE, Me: This might be a bad idea.
  15. I went to a drive-in by myself a few weeks ago to see Empire Strikes Back. It was....OK. I think it would have been a lot of fun if I went with a group and paid to bring in my own food. You definitely want to go on a night when they're not busy. The drive-in I went to made you keep the windows rolled up if there was another car withing 6 feet of yours. However, if that wasn't the case people with SUV's (or other cars with hatchbacks) could back them into the space, open the the back and basically have a picknick in the back of their car while watching the movie.
  16. I did the same thing, but with a mason jar and a piece of paper used as a funnel.
  17. Most of the re-openings in NJ are on the condition that it can be done safely. (Restaurants can only have outside dining, non-essential construction is limited to crews of 10 people or less, etc...). I don't think it's possible for movie theaters to re-open in a manner that is safe. (Unless they want to turn their parking lots into drive ins).
  18. Excellent!
  19. For anyone that's interested, Andy Serkis completed a Hobbitathon (I'm listening to it in stages, but feel free to do all 10 hours at once):
  20. Which is a great way to avoid bankruptcy [/sarcasm]. I actually think AMC has a point. I think the key point is this: It sounds like Universal wants to keep the current profit distribution from the box office and release the movies for streaming at the same time. So theaters will get lower attendance but pay the same amount of money per ticket to Universal. (Plus Universal is owned by Comcast, and I'll always disagree with them).
  21. I have to agree. Will theaters open up, with all the financial issues that entails (salary as an example), if there's no new movies and no one is going to the theater?
  22. A movie about horrible kids that are punished for not following the rules? Of course he's a fan.
  23. Just saw this 'wonderful' story about a hoax involving Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. https://uproxx.com/tv/nikolaj-coster-waldau-not-dead-game-of-thrones/
  24. I think Meg was being sincere when she spoke with Marta. But it's easy to be nice to someone when everything is going your way. It's a little harder when your mom and all your aunts and uncles are ganging up on you, and your mom is telling you that you're broke. Meg did something horrible, but I do feel sorry for her. The Q&A extra that came with the movie had some interesting information, such as the fact that Michael Shannon got his SAG card for being excited about Wrestlemania in Groundhog Day. However, I found the most interesting fact that Daniel Craig based his accent on Shelby Foote. (The very southern historian from Ken Burns Civil War documentary).
  25. Found this article about the firing: https://www.bleedingcool.com/2020/02/25/att-and-warner-bros-the-real-driving-force-behind-dc-comics-5g/ I think a lot of it is hearsay, but this quote reminds me of a situation at my company. My company went through a merger a few years ago, and the new company had new (often better) ideas about how things should be done. A higher up felt that he could ignore those ideas. One Monday he was scheduling a meeting for the following week. That Friday we got an email advising us that he had 'retired'. So, I'm thinking DiDio was in a similar situation. AT&T gave him a certain amount of time to change his management style. He didn't change, so he was gone.
