  1. Or the business was just too far gone to survive even after its competition was gone. Hawkins might be like one of those towns that had a Walmart cause all of the local businesses close only to leave the area because they weren't making enough money. I have to agree. Owens is a good guy, but we saw in S2 that he's also pragmatic and a believer in the ends justifying the means.
  2. I have to say that I really enjoyed Hawkeye, and think it's the best of the Disney Plus Marvel shows. (Personally, I think Wandavision and Loki had higher highs, but they weren't as consistently good). Here's hoping that they have the new Hawkeye and Black Widow star in a team up movie and/or show.
  3. Rebecca is rich enough that she could have frozen her eggs and could have someone be a surrogate for her and someone else. (Maybe Sam, someone she knows, or an anonymous donor). I wouldn't mind this being a story line in S3.
  4. I agree, it's only natural to focus on your regrets instead of what you're happy about when you're in crisis.
  5. https://www.avclub.com/brian-michael-bendis-is-working-on-a-legion-of-superher-1848254915 I've really soured on Bendis, and am not a fan of an 'Adult' Legion show done by him.
  6. I'm guessing that he has multiple children and/or nieces and nephews that named their kids Armand to suck up to him and get in the will. And until someone that knows more about physics say otherwise I'm going to have the opinion that Stane Tower was about to fall apart and Kate did everyone a favor by destroying it when it was closed.
  7. So I re-watched the first episode and the mom is definitely a less than great person. Based on the 2012 scene it looks like Kate was closer to her father than her mother, which may explain some of the present day dynamic. Also, something funky may have been going on before the penthouse took any damage. Her father went downstairs, then her mother did. She called them before there was damage, but after she got scared and no one came to get her right away. What were her parents doing? Also, I put the cc on for Eleanor's argument with Armand, and here's the conversation. (My emphasis in bold and notes in italics). Armand: I should've known that this empire of yours would be built on a lie. Eleanor: By myself from the ground up. So whatever you think you saw is not true. (I had thought she took over her husband's company, but it sounds like she's claiming that she built the company. How did that work? Also, what did Armand see that would anger him so much)? Armand: Don't insult my intelligence. Eleanor: Frankly you're insulting us both. Armand: I know what I saw. Eleanor: You are all just-- Armand: Don't you try that on me. I gave you an opportunity to explain yourself. (Who is all, and what is Eleanor trying on him. Was she responding to a specific group of people? Or was she just using her go to move of criticizing people born with money when she has an argument with one of them)? Eleanor: I don't want to argue with you. (Just a tad passive aggressive. I'm surprised she didn't say that she was sorry he was upset). Armand: I've got powerful friends, too. The kind you don't want to mess with. (Who is Armand friends with, and who is Eleanor friends with)?
  8. I could be wrong, but I don't think people will care how she gets her powers as long as they don't do anything like whitewashing her character.
  9. Also, I have the feeling that Feige has never considered the Netflix shows or AOS to be cannon. And I have to wonder if he's going to use the multiverse to remove them from the main MCU universe. (They happened in universe X that was similar to, but different from the ones that the movies occur in).
  10. The horror of Mary as a librarian makes more sense if you realize that Capra spent a number of years in Pawnee Indiana, which has always had a negative opinion on the profession.
  11. I had to show this ad for the Dune board game that is based on the NEW BOOK the movie is based on. Thirty seconds of research would let them know that Dune was published in 1965.
  12. To me the interesting part of the 'boy messiah' part is that it was made up by the Bene Gesserit. They created the Fremen prophecy in case it was every needed by someone in their order. So, I see it as a subversion of the White Savior trope.
  13. This clip from Rachel Maddow talking to a weapons safety expert explains all the procedures put into place to ensure accidents like this don't happen. At the 7:30 mark he makes it clear that it would have taken breaking multiple rules for this tragedy to occur. It's also been mentioned that some productions have already moved to CGI prior to this. Maddow specifically mentioned Mare of Eastown. To my mind the only argument for continuing to use blanks that I give any credence to is the fact that actual recoil makes for more realism.
  14. I think that Harry misunderstood the reason for the divorce. On some level he thought it was because he was into some shady things. That's why he was OK with the new husband since he was a 'good' guy. I feel like he put her on a bit of a pedestal and thought she was a better person than him. He must have been gutted to find out that she didn't care about the shady business and just thought that he was a bad husband.
  15. I've been wondering if anyone has purchased the new Middle Earth Ultimate Edition. The reviews indicate that it doesn't include the appendixes that the extended editions have always contained. However, the reviews were from before the release date. Has anyone gotten the ultimate edition? If so, can you confirm if the appendixes are missing? (I'm willing to get The Hobbit movies if it I get the appendixes for LOTR, but I'm not paying $240 unless the appendixes are included). https://www.amazon.com/Middle-Ultimate-Collectors-Blu-ray-Digital/dp/B09DTYBMRW/ref=sr_1_1?crid=30TAWQRSPWN9W&dchild=1&keywords=middle+earth+6-film+ultimate+collector's+edition&qid=1633484912&s=movies-tv&sprefix=middl%2Caps%2C184&sr=1-1
  16. I really hate Nate now, and want to re-watch S1 in part to see how much of this version of Nate was there from the beginning. I do like the fact that someone can be an underdog and a bad guy. I also wonder if Nate will accept fault when faced with the consequences for his actions or if he'll be one of those people that always blame everyone else.
  17. I just had a thought about how this will play out when Nate explains that he went to the press because he felt unappreciated. That might be a trigger for Ted due to his feelings about not telling his Dad that he was appreciated.
  18. Not only that but Ted made him a coach when he had been in charge of the kits. I would say that was Ted giving him credit.
  19. How does Nate think this will end? Trent giving him up as the source sped things up, but it wouldn't have been hard to figure out who the source was. Here's the people that knew about the panic attack and what I see as Ted's opinion of them as a potential source: Dr Fieldstone: There's no way she would do that. Roy: Roy Kent would never go behind someone's back Leslie: The guy that was willing to give up his office for the sake of the team? Rebecca: She would have done that a long time ago if she had wanted to. Coach Beard: The man who followed him to England. Nate: The guy who talks about being a tiger to get back at people, has been verbally abusive, and wants the credit for every idea he ever had? I wonder who the source was?
  20. Normally I agree, but this was only a half hour and it was animated, so I was able to enjoy it for what it was. Live action is a little too real, so I don't think I would enjoy even one half hour episode. And a movie or series would be a hard pass. Regarding the general What If stories, it's been years since I've read them but generally they either prove that the main universe is the best one or they show that everything happens in the same basic manner with one change.
  21. I'm a little confused by something. I that that Thanos was in New York. (I'm assuming he got infected after getting the time stone from Dr. Strange's body. They said the infection was via saliva, so maybe someone's saliva got in his mouth). To me the implication was that he would be cured along with everyone else, then get the mind stone and get rid of half the universe. However, I saw a lot of comments on the AV Club stating that he was waiting for them in Wakanda. Did I miss something?
  22. I've been wondering if there will be a (probably gruesome) reference to Trevor in Shang-Chi.
  23. A depowered Thor that could take out multiple shield agents makes as much sense as Hawkeye or Black Widow. Besides Pym wasn't actually thinking rationally.
  24. In the first Thor he had been made mortal by Odin as a punishment until he proved himself worthy, so he could have been killed at that point in time. Regarding killing Thor, Pym did say that he realized Fury might want to recruit him. So, he killed him just in case.
  25. Her decision actually makes sense (if you don't care about the loss of human life). More people would have died, but the JL could have taken out Starro. On the other hand, anyone with knowledge of Task Force X, might get curious about what was going on if a bunch of super villains turned up in Corto Maltese. Does Waller really want Batman looking into this?
