  1. I really hope we get more of Nate's father this season. Most of what we know of their relationship is through Nate, and his view of Ted's actions in S2 show how reliable Nate is in these matters. Now I don't think his father is a warm and fuzzy guy, but what did we see so far. 1) Not wanting his son to whistle for him like you would a dog. 2) Telling his son not to let his ego get out of control. (This seemed like a problem with the father at the time, but maybe he knows his son well enough to know how the attention would affect Nate). 3) Not liking Nate's behavior in the press conference. (Nate was acting pretty shitty, so it makes sense that the father wouldn't be a fan of that behavior). Regarding Roy and Keeley, I'm not worried because I'm sure they'll be back together before too long. Their breakup makes sense to me based on what we've seen of Roy's insecurities about his abilities outside of being a football player. They'll get back together when he stops getting in his own way.
  2. Honestly, Palpatine made all the decisions in that relationship. At the end of the day Vader was just his errand boy that he was happy to throw away when a better option was available. (Which doesn't bode well for Nate if that window was as intentional as we believe). I have a feeling that all of the pundits are just looking at West Ham's record and the fact that most teams that get promoted in one season get relegated the following season. (Per Ted Lasso at least, don't know the sport well enough to know if that last part is a fact). Here's some other facts: Richmond only got relegated due to Rebecca's sabotage in S1, so they're not typical for a team that just got promoted. From what we saw/heard in S1 & S2 there was an implication that Rupert wasn't a great owner. His manager was a mediocre talent that bounced around the league and his two star players were an older player that went to Richmond to finish his career and a younger player that was loaned to him from another team. Buying a better team doesn't magically make him a better owner. Nate's good at tactics, but not the actual running of a team. His locker room is probably more poisonous than the Richmond one was when Ted took over. That team will fall apart the second there's any difficulties. (Compared to Richmond that has been built to be resilient). Speaking of Nate. I've long believed that in the long run the right thing to do is also the smart thing to do. I think we're going to see that play out this season. We saw him ignore a woman that greeted him and tell a man that was trying to be friendly to get out of his office. A practical reason to be nice to people is so that there will be some loyalty when you need it. He's ensuring that everyone at West Ham will be delighted to throw him to the wolves. (Regarding right=smart. Money/power obviously lets you get away with more. So Rupert can be a shit and get away with it. Nate...can't).
  3. I have the feeling that the problem with the New Republic is that too many people thought Palpatine was an aberration and they could simply reinstate the same government as the Old Republic. (Despite the prequels and The Clone Wars showing that there were significant issues with the Old Republic. It probably would have fallen apart sooner or later even if Palpatine never showed up). They should have taken the opportunity to truly create something new. It would also be interesting if we find out that part of the issue is that competent bureaucrats were either purged by the Empire or 'Sith-ized' by the Empire and purged by the New Republic. That would leave the New Republic with the dregs.
  4. It's probably not an original expression, but my mom used to say that she could forgive but she wouldn't forget. That's how I feel about Nate and any redemption arc. He can earn forgiveness, but bridges have been burned and he cannot return to Richmond.
  5. My guess is that Bo Katan will end up somewhere between her earlier beliefs and the beliefs of the covert. Sort of how most religions have all kinds of degrees between ultra-conservative and completely secular. Din will probably end up in the same place as her. I have to wonder about Elia Kane's motivations. (Especially with that rumor from earlier in the show about Gideon being flayed). Is that rumor false and she's working for him, is she working for someone else, or is this revenge against people she dislikes from her time in the Empire? (Her comment about never getting a chance to think about what she wanted to be when she grew up makes me wonder how she ended up in the Empire and how she feels about people that chose to join getting amnesty). Also just looked up the actor that plays her and apparently she's a martial artist. So, she might be involved in some action scenes later on.
  6. South Jersey resident here. AC is on a barrier island and there's smaller towns on the same island. So, the issue was getting off the island, not getting out of AC. Also the bays separating the barrier islands from the mainland aren't that large. A good swimmer could easily make it. (I couldn't but someone whose father would take them out on a boat and make them swim to shore could). The more unrealistic part was her sister's house. I've seen areas like that in towns on the mainland near AC, but everything on the island is fairly built up. However, maybe the party bus got her to the mainland and she was off the island by then. Changing subjects, one thing I liked about this show is that it doesn't answer every question. Case in point, at some point Frost Sr changed his mind about Charlie. So, why did he not say anything to Cliff? My opinion is that he changed his mind about killing her, but was still mad at BOTH of them. So, he made Charlie run for her life for a year and made Cliff chase her and live in cheap motels for a year.
  7. Loved the episode, but was a little frustrated every time Beatrix got on the phone. I know that voice. Who is that? Is that Rhea Perlman. It almost sounds like her. It was Rhea!. So that's two (unrelated) Perlman's as the mystery voice. Are there any other Perlman's in Hollywood with recognizable voices.😀 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt19636674/?ref_=tt_eps_rec
  8. I guess there's thee levels to to the question. How likely is it for someone to die in real life? Did the showrunners think it was likely for someone to die? Did Kyle think it was likely for someone to die? Only the last one is important in trying to determine how bad a guy Kyle was. Based on what we saw in the show Kyle didn't think anyone would be seriously hurt. So, he was definitely a bad guy in that instance, but not on the same level as Davis.
  9. I do think the driver should have been safe from serious harm. (Based on the experience I obtained from watching Ford vs Ferrari). In that movie it was stated that the driver was fairly safe in an accident as long as they could get out of the car if it caught on fire. (Flame retardant suits, roll cages, and etc. make for fairly safe cars). Regardless, I think it's safe to assume that Kyle thought the driver would be safe. Charlie saw his confession where he stated that he didn't think anyone would be hurt and called him a mensch at the end. I don't think she would have said so if he had lied. All of which is my way of saying that Davis was MUCH worse than Kyle. Kyle attempted to sabotage a competitor, but thought no one would be seriously hurt. Davis tried to kill Katy (who had only committed the cardinal sin of making Davis look bad), then he tried to kill Charlie.
  10. It could have been intentional to have someone that should be considered attractive in the role. Jed was convinced that he had nothing due to issues like 'bad luck' and being poor. (And not because of stuff like the fact that he was a major creep). He actually thought that Sara would fly to Hawaii with him since he 'won' $25,000! Then she says no and she's just a spoiled rich girl. One thing that I liked from this episode is that we don't know everything. By the end of the episode Abe has figured out what Jed did, but we don't know when he figured it out. My thought is that he heard a lot of Jed's conversation with Charlie and intentionally caused the feedback on his hearing aids when he decided to interrupt them. Jed appeared to look down on Abe, but being kind and honest doesn't make you stupid.
  11. This may seem odd, but I like Hyde and don't want him to be dead. (Although the actor that played him should be in jail). They should just mention that he moved away and they don't hear from him that often.
  12. It makes sense that Leia doesn't know Jay. I had best friends in HS that I haven't spoken to in years and we live in the same town. No big fights or anything dramatic, just gradually growing apart from each other. Add the fact that Donna and Eric live in Chicago to that and it makes sense. I do have to say that I love the house so far. It would have been tempting to have it be exactly the same as on the old show or completely gutted and redone in 90's fashion. But real people rarely do either extreme, and new wallpaper and appliances in the same kitchen is much more realistic.
  13. Count me as one of the people that don't like this show. I stopped watching The Office about half way through when I realized that the people behind the scenes thought that making everyone a jerk was 'more realistic', and I'm seeing the same thing here. So far Velma is an all around horrible person, Daphne is a mean girl drug dealer, and Fred is a psychopath. The only likable person so far is Norville/Shaggy and his story line so far reminds me of the one armed man from Hot Tub Time Machine. I might give it another chance, but I think I'm out.
  14. I saw a lot of talk a week or so ago complaining that other DC actors are being replaced, but an anonymous DC executive stated that they're considering keeping Miller. I think that's much ado about nothing. There's no way that DC is going to state that they're replacing the lead in a hugely expensive movie before the movie has been released! (Now I could be proven wrong if they do keep Miller after any news about replacing him won't affect the box office).
  15. Exactly, the only entities that could defeat a billionaire are governments, but they would have to be mad enough to not accept any bribes. Destroying the Mona Lisa would ensure that France would throw the book at Miles, and the fact that he ensured that he built an override for the fail safe would be proof that he was to blame. Regarding Klear, I don't think that the movie was saying it was a horrible product. Just that it had the potential to be incredibly dangerous and needed to be tested to determine how to use safely. As an example, power plants could probably be designed that could use it safely. Using it in rockets or piping it into people's homes, not so much.
  16. I feel bad for Cavill since he enjoyed playing Superman and he never got a truly great movie to show how good he was in the role. However, I don't think Gunn was wrong to replace him. This is due to a reason that hasn't been discussed much. Henry Cavill is 39 years old, and he can play Superman today. But what about ten years from now? It makes sense to start over with a younger actor that can be Superman for the next 10 - 15 years.
  17. Based on Helen's story it seems like Andi had ideas, but knew that she wouldn't be taken seriously, so she found someone that looked and sounded like an eccentric genius to be the face of their endeavor. However, she was always the one behind the scenes making things work. That's probably why she underestimated him. Miles wasn't smart, but he knew how to use money to get his way (like he did when he forced her out of the company) and he was willing to kill to get what he wanted. His money is also why Helen needed to destroy the Mona Lisa as only something that big would be enough to overcome the power his money gave him. As an example, the way he killed Duke WAS stupid as an autopsy would show the cause of death was due to an allergic reaction and who would try to kill Miles with something that Duke was allergic to? However, I'm sure that some palms would have been greased and the manner of death would have been changed. (This makes me wonder about Andi's death being ruled a suicide when their was plenty of evidence that it was a murder). Finally, I like to think that after this ended Whiskey and Pam (as the only two halfway decent people among the suspects) separate themselves from the 'Disrupters' with Peg working for Whiskey.
  18. Thanks, just looked at it in the media thread and have to agree that it's odd that there's no updates if this is a true story. (I think many of us have leaned to reserve judgement after the initial story the last few years). One thing I did notice is that they mentioned that Hutton caused issues on set. I have to wonder if that, and not the allegations, is why he's not on the show.
  19. Is this referring to Timothy Hutton? Because he's not in the current series and I haven't heard of any issues with the remaining cast.
  20. I would point out that for most of her history Val was a loyal member of SHIELD. Her being a villain was a fairly recent retcon, so I don't think it's a problem to have her be a goodish person in the MCU. Zemo on the other hand started out as a fairly one dimensional villain and started getting layers in Thunderbolts, so making him more of an anti-hero isn't too far from how he's portrayed in more recent comics. Honestly, I look at the comics as a starting point, but things would be boring if nothing changed from the comics to the screen. So, I'm glad they're making some changes when adapting the source material.
  21. Agreed, Kino probably would have been OK if it had been in a pool for a short distance with Andor to coach him. But in an Ocean with several thousand people all around him and a distance that looked to be at least a mile? Swimming isn't as instinctive as some people believe, and Kino would almost certainly have drowned. (I'm hoping that he found a flotation device after most of the others got out and managed to escape, but that would be unlikely. Also, I've been thinking about the number of blasters, and it actually makes sense based on how the prison was set up. It looked like they had blasters by the door to each room instead of having the guards carry them around. Considering how much this prison used patterns (7 floors, 7 rooms per floor, 100 prisoners per room, 12 guards per floor, etc) then I'm guessing they had 12 blasters by each entrance, and that would be 84 blasters per floor. Makes sense if you think the prisoners will never get out of the rooms, but a disaster (for the guards) once that happened.
  22. I saw some clips of Kino in segments talking about Serkis' role and a lot of his dialogue is more heroic once you realize that he knew he wasn't getting out. Regarding Mon Mothma's daughter I have to wonder if her husband has been planning on a marriage of their daughter to Davo's son for a while now. We know that he's been going out of his way to get the daughter to prefer him and trust him over Mon Mothma and that he is friendly with Davo (at least we know that fact per Davo). Could they have been working on this for a while and Davo is taking this opportunity to make the marriage more likely? (Or is Perrin just a jerk that is using his daughter to annoy his wife)?
  23. I think that Syril thinks he is in love with Dedra, but it's more of an obsession. To me the question is how this will affect the plot; will he go on a rampage due to being rejected; will one of her ISB enemies use him to get at her; or will she find a use for him? (And I did see some reactors on YouTube that thought this was a romantic subplot, which I find really upsetting if you think his actions are romantic or a woman would find them romantic). And I do think I have to disagree with you regarding Dedra's motivations. We're used to seeing people like Vador, Palpatine, or Tarkin using the power the Empire gives them like a club. I think with Dedra we are seeing a true believer in the "order" that the Empire brings and not someone out for personal power. This is what allows her to come across as a human being one moment and a monster the next. She truly believes that her monstrous actions are for the greater good.
  24. Since Marvel included the Abomination, I'm wondering if their boss is Mr. Blue from the Hulk movie.
  25. She didn't break his arm for teasing. She broke it because the kid threatened to cut Dustin's teeth out with a knife unless Mike jumped off a cliff. (Maybe he thought Mike would live or wouldn't actually jump but he still deserved to get a broken arm). Angela, on the other hand deserved a punch or slap, but not a roller skate to the face. Which I think was the point. El was trained as a weapon and hasn't really had many experiences since escaping that would help her understand that there's a middle ground between doing nothing and going for the throat. I really hope that the show doesn't drop that issue. (Stuff like this is why I don't always like highly serialized shows. I think that episodes that don't move the overall plot but have a lot of character development are left out as 'filler' and this negatively affects the show).
