  1. My husband literally has no idea what is going on. He only knows what he picks up during wandering through the living room occasionally. He just happened to wander in during that line.
  2. Morgan - "I don't die" My husband - "He is so totally gonna die."
  3. So far we've had an ep called 'Brett is dead" (where he was alive) and Sal's Dead ( who really is dead) are we going to get another ___________ is dead ep before the season is out? Maybe the owner of the foot? And by the way, was Sandra even in this ep? I don't remember. Given all the IRL news about sexual harassment, I love that in the end, Sal died because of his pervy behavior with no one really missing him. It is so funny about cultural references. I immediately knew who Garret's costume was because everyone I know has seen 'Coming to America' and even hearing the term 'Sexy Chocolate' makes me giggle, but would have never picked out Amy's. I don't know anything about Selena except J. Lo played her in a movie. Of course 'Slutty Cop' on Dina loses some of the slutty. Finally, I have not been the biggest fan of Mateo's. I think the first ep I really liked him was the Tornado ep. But I am enjoying his pairing with Cheyenne. They work off each other very well together.
  4. Huh. I would've never thought of considering a historical fiction/romance like Outlander as a chick-lit. My personal definition has always been that chick-lit is a very modern take on the romantic ups & downs (sometimes comic, sometimes tragic) of women in their mid-to-late twenties. Not as rigidly defined as a romance novel, a bit freer, but still ends with a relationship of sorts. I like Jill Mansell when I want to read something light - she falls definitely on the fluffier side. Very British rom-com. She has a huge back list and some are better than others. I especially liked: Don't Want to Miss a Thing, and You And Me Always. Dorothy Koomson is another one I like but hers are a bit heavier. I liked The Chocolate Run. If you want a real tearjerker, read Goodnight Beautiful. Excellently written but man, will it make you mad/sad/happy. If you want something a little closer to romance Lucy Parker's series that is set in the London Theatre World is great, Act Like It and Pretty Face. Leslie Dubois has this clever, funny novel called Natural Beauty about an African American woman who uses her different hairstyles as a metaphor for her changing dating life.
  5. I think the main thing with her is that they had to keep her away from people. No matter what she did, just being around her within a certain radius resulted in other people having bad luck. I mean she was just sitting with Barry in the coffee shop and there were several potential disasters, some of which could've been fatal if she had stayed longer. So even if her powers weren't maliciously directed like Kilgore's were, they would have actually ended up hurting more people. And even if she could dampen them, as Barry suggested, she doesn't have a selfless enough personality to do that. She was too pleased with being lucky and there was a sense of entitlement there. In her mind she finally was getting what she deserved. She seemed remarkably oblivious to what was happening to people around her. I do agree that the bank heist that early in her powers career felt wrong. It didn't truck with her personality. Who thinks , oh I am having a streak of luck now, things are going my way I am going to rob a bank? My first though if I was feeling lucky would be "I am going to by lottery ticket."
  6. I actually liked this meta. She was cute. And there was no real malice in her just a wee bit of "finally I am getting mine" selfishness. The actress did a great job. For the most part I enjoyed this with the exception of a few things: 1) Wally. Man who in the universe hates Wally so much? He was broken up via intergalactic text message in front of all his friends and family by his girlfriend's dad. Plus we got a bit too much TMI about his love life. And now he feels invisible. All of this is an extra kick while he is down given the tragedy that was his hair last week. 2) Harry. This just did not feel like E-2 Harry. He felt like E-2 Harry had been seasoned with a heaping tablespoon of HR. And then an additional dash of HR. Even his hair was not Harry's hair. I will say I do like the continuance of his and Cisco's relationship. That felt right. 3) The aborted wedding scene. I admit it was funny "Oh what a lovely coffin. Is that cedar?" and then the look on the altar boy's face when confronted with his use of the cinnamon incense. But it just felt...off. I wish there had been another scene right after to ground that one back into reality. Maye Iris dejectedly explaining that somehow she doesn't believe they'll ever get married, that he'll disappear again. Or something like that. AS ever, she did look gorgeous, though. I am liking how this season's overall arc seems to be unfolding with The Thinker. It does feel more thoughtful (ha!) and planned out than last season, which felt like they were making it up as they went along.
  7. Well if the last two eps for S4 are anything to go by and all of the pre-season talk up proves to be true, they seem committed to really beefing up her role. She is basically the head of operations for Team Flash. She's like their lead now. Also it seems the show has become 100% committed to the Barry/Iris relationship dynamic. They are engaged and apparently their wedding is the benign reason for this season's 4-show crossover, obviously sinister stuff will actually happen for real plot purposes because these are super hero shows after all, not romances.
  8. I just love the Caity Lotz & Candice Patton Bff-ness. Those two hang out a LOT. LOL.
  9. Seriously. What is Negan's deal with bodily waste? Whoever writes his dialogue is super preoccupied with dicks, balls and all matters scatological.
  10. I hadn't planned to watch it. But I did like seeing everybody and it was a fun party atmosphere. I think they all do legitimately like each other -- at least I think the actors all seem to like each other. My major takeaways: - for two hours not a lot was said about the show itself except -- they even seemed to have hated last season, not just us. - JDM feels like he is internalizing some Negan stuff. It is siphoning some of his hotness off for me. - Alanna has way more personality than Tara. It is a shame that doesn't seem to shine through. - Danai's eye shadow was so pretty - I always forget that Lennie Morgan is a Brit - Khary Payton had gorgeous teeth - I could listen to Andrew Lincoln say "Willy wanka" over and over again - Nothing will make me like Garbage Pail chick. Especially not the actress teasing some flirtation with Rick. Ugh. Just ugh.
  11. I am hearing that 9JKL is really bad. Which is too bad for Albert Tsai. That kid has talent to burn but can't seem to find a show that sticks. I thought it was a shame that Trophy Wife got cancelled just after one season. It was a charming show and he was he was the breakout in it.
  12. Wait... was that a small, little , movement of Melendez's lips when Shaun said he used a teleportation device? I think it was! I have to agree that kid who plays Shaun's brother in the flashbacks and this week's patient of the week, has charisma and charm to burn. I also agree with @Ohmo that is is a shame we will lose him as a recurring character because it might have been nice to see him play off Shaun in the present day. The two had such great on screen chemistry. On the other hand, though, I am glad Shaun's .3 percent against all odds diagnosis didn't prove to be true. Would have felt too unrealistic and manipulative, imo. This was a good episode.

    Audiobooks

I can't wait for Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson to come out next month. It is the third in his Way of Kings series and the previous two books were read by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading who are both superb. The previous two books in the series clocked in at 45 and 48 hours each of listening time respectively. But the story is so cracking good, the time really just slips by. One I just recently finished was A Song For Arbonne by Guy Gavriel Kay. The narrator is Euan Morton who not only does a great job with the performance, but also sings (the story is a fantasy about two warring kingdoms where one of them has a strong bardic tradition).
  14. Count me in as one of those people who just couldn't get into P&R in any season. I'd heard so many good things about it and wanted to like it. When it didn;t work for me in S1, I figured it might be one of those shows that have slow-season-one-syndrome where it really needed to hit its stride in the back half of S1 or even by S2 (this happened for me with several shows: B99, Community, Legends of Tomorrow). So I skipped straight to S2 and watched several eps. But still didn't work for me.
  15. But isn't that how becoming friends start? Opening the door to interacting with someone somewhere socially to start get to know them on a personal level? I thought it was at least a step toward getting to know him.
  16. re the flashforward: I read a speculation somewhere that (I'll put these under spoilers in case they are true spoilers)
  17. Yeah, I figured her absence -- being on the disabled list and thus staying back -- was a neat way to accommodate her filming schedule.
  18. Until the show decides to remove Negan's plot armor, we are stuck with the guy. With that in mind and understanding that this is what made the episode somewhat illogical and frustrating (cuz let's face it, Rick had a clear shot),it was still an entertaining episode I did enjoy watching them unfurl the pieces of their plan. Especially liked Dwight and Daryl's arrow-grams and the plucking out of Negan's scouts one by one. I have to giggle when I see that Judith has only aged, like 2, years whereas Carl has clearly aged like 8 years in the same time period.
  19. Oh Father G, where was that guy who locked his parishioners out of the church and left them to the hordes? That is the guy we needed today.
  20. My sister just texted me, "Y'all motherfuckas know Rick missed Negan's over talking ass."
  21. Why is Negan-lit so mad that Gregory has no juice? Has he not met Gregory before?
  22. Ok, those "armoured" cars are making me giggle. They look like something out of Scooby Doo.
