  1. Here, I googled it for you. I hope the Oxford Dictionary, Chicago Manual of Style, New York Times, and Merriam Webster are "respected" enough. Oxford Dictionaries Grammar myths #1: is it wrong to end a sentence with a preposition? Ending sentences with prepositions Chicago Manual of Style Questions & Answers: Prepositions, which references CMOS 5.176: New York Times Talk to the Newsroom: Director of Copy Desks Relevant question: Merriam Webster - Ask the Editor YouTube video "Ending a Sentence with a Preposition" P.S. It's also OK to willfully split infinitives. P.P.S. Modern typography uses one space after periods and other punctuation. Thanks. I always appreciate the opportunity to do some research and educate.
  2. "I thought it was classy until I saw it on you." Oh, snap, Tina!
  3. Not sure about Project Runway, but totally agree about "The Breakfast Club."I'm not always a fan of Tina, but I was cheering every time she gave a zinger back at Tammy. Usually she's so tongue-tied and awkward. And once again we're treated to how much the Belcher children genuinely love each other and have each others' backs. I love that.
  4. I wished they had let the Scottish actor finish his story in the red chair.
  5. Multiple respected style guides would disagree with you.
  6. But it's a dating app, right? If all you do is left swipe or right swipe, does the person actually know? Speaking for me personally, smoking is a deal breaker.
  7. The new Scotts Turf Builder ad -- if only for "Scott," the ginger Scot.
  8. I would imagine after all these years that Graham would be jaded to celebrities, so it was totally adorable to see how excited he was to have Meryl as a guest.
  9. It is no longer unacceptable to end a sentence with a preposition.
  10. One of my local PBS stations plays "As Time Goes By" every Friday night on rotation. The best episodes focus Jean and Lionel, although Geoffrey Palmer had great chemistry with all the women. I tend to skip a lot of the episodes with Penny and Stephen; I find her shrewishness and his idiocy too much to take.It bugs me that I've never been able to figure out if Pargetter is Jean's maiden name. If so, why would she have returned to her maiden name after being widowed?
  11. But I didn't get that sense that Danny was the "safe choice." Riley never had romantic feelings for him; she was always in love with Ben. Even if she knew Danny had feelings for her, she didn't reciprocate; what was she supposed to do? Tell him she knew even though she didn't feel the same? I think that would have been worse.
  12. Lilith and Frasier should have been end-game in Sitcomlandia. I loved them as a couple fron "Cheers" days. In real life, they wouldn't end up together. None of Frasier's many other girlfriends made any impression on me. I never really understood the ending -- he moved to a new city for a new job, but it wasn't the city where his new girlfriend lived? Count me in the Niles and Daphne camp. I liked them together.
  13. I'm in agreement with everyone else that this episode was excellent, especially Ama's insistence on Josh as Cristela's white boyfriend and that dating white meant they were moving up in the world. I must say, Maria Canals-Barrera looked absolutely stunning at the quincenera. I kind of don't like that they're making Izzy the smart-aleck kid, but I loved her "Not upstairs yet," as Danielle started to lash into Ama.
  14. I know. That disappointed me too. We've had several seasons of this, and it looked like the creators finally agreed Danny and Riley were the end-game. Maybe it's just that he was hurt, and it will resolve fairly quickly. Of course, telling him at his game was pretty stupid. With the Tucker story line and "fate," I'm wondering if they're gearing up for a final season to happily match everyone up: Tucker and the new girl, Danny and Riley, Bonnie and Brad, and finally, Ben realizes that the only girl in his life right now is Emma.
  15. Kurt and Chris Colfer were part of the reason I stopped watching "Glee." I couldn't stand St. Kurt and how he could do no wrong. Also, Blaine was way out of his league. I just pictured Kurt as the bitter old queen sitting at the end of the bar being bitchy to the young gays.
  16. I rewatched, and Roger doesn't use a combination to open the crate; he just squeezes the latch. Steve and Hayley are idiots. I saw that Adrienne Barbeau and Kate Mulgrew were voices. Was Kate Mulgrew June, and Adrienne Barbeau the maid? And Mickey Rooney was listed. Isn't he dead?
  17. I already dislike the Toyota girl, but the latest Toyota commercial where she's at career day really really annoys me. She's telling how great it is to be a receptionist at a car dealership and the kids all cheer, while the astronaut and fireman on the sidelines don't even want to talk about their jobs. A freakin' astronaut! Oh, I hate Toyota girl.
  18. I'll buy the DVD, because the journey up to the last two minutes was fun, but I won't buy the CD if "Hero's Journey" is missing. It was the best song of the show (maybe because it was also the longest, so it had time to build a proper story).
  19. But he'd been on TV before, right? (I never heard of him until "Fresh Off the Boat.") And he was a stand-up comedian? So it's not like he never had any exposure to the phoniness that is TV or Hollywood. Plus he was a lawyer, and, apparently, a drug dealer, so he's not stupid. I guess it's primarily that I don't much like the show (at least the Eddie character), and nothing I read here makes me think highly of Eddie (the real person).
  20. Yeah, Laurie-as-reader was never ever hinted at. And if anything, she'd be reading Harlequin and other bodice rippers (not that there's anything wrong with them), or sticking with gossip magazines. I see this as yet another pathetic attempt to show that Travis isn't too good for her. I was ashamed to hear a grown woman declare how much she hates reading. And when did Jules move into complete moron territory that she doesn't understand common cliches and phrases? How on earth is she a successful business woman? They were spot on with Tom as a future serial killer. Maybe in the last episode (which is the next one, yeah!), there's a mass murder at Jules's house and they're all offed by Tom. The only thing good about this episode was Ian Gomez. Dang he is a hot, sexy, burly bear. Seriously.
  21. Ugh. I'm so tired of the "mother-in-law hates the daughter-in-law and vice versa" trope. Ruby is a nasty bitch who needs to grow up and realize her son is married to a wonderful woman.
  22. Were there? They just looked like regular puppy crates with latches. I'll have to check.
  23. Yes, but Max was a loser. And to be fair, the mainstream gay "community" pushes the effeminate, diva-loving, "hag"-having stereotype, where everyone has to have the same opinions.
  24. That was the guy who absolutely had to have a workout space in his tiny house. Because going to a real gym would have been onerous. I would not want to be using a composting toilet for that!
