  1. Maybe he was too stoned or too busy counting his money. As someone commented on the Buzzfeed story: Gotta say, I agree with the poster.
  2. Agreed. A lot of it I thought was more uncomfortable and awkward than funny, but the way they lip read the wedding vows was laugh out loud.
  3. I got tired of "Trading Spaces" real fast, but I liked most iterations of "Design on a Dime," "Designed to Sell" (but I stopped watching the Chicago version when Monica Pederson redid a kitchen and blocked off a window), and I used to like "Home to Go," with Peter Fallico. And even though it wasn't design per se, I liked "For Rent," with Jodi Gilmour.
  4. Stereotypical effeminate gay man? How very "fresh" of them. He was supposed to be auditioning for Aladdin? Maybe 20 years ago.
  5. She, and to a lesser extent, Randall Park, are the only reasons to watch this show. Well, maybe the two younger boys too. I could not be less interested in Eddie (who's supposed to be the main character). Any scene he's in just drags, and I stop paying attention.
  6. I thought this episode wasn't bad, but that was due entirely to Lindsay Sloan, who was fantastic. Or at least be Oscar, which would go against the stereotype of the effeminate gay man.
  7. I hate the trope of shrew wife and emasculated husband, which is basically every sitcom couple.
  8. The Subaru commercial where the mom recalls moments of her daughter growing up end with: "Subaru, where my daughter grew up." All I think after that is: "She lost her virginity to the quarterback at prom."
  9. Bernadette is on my list of characters I can't stand on this show. She and Raj could disappear and I wouldn't miss the shrew and the jerk at all. Sheldon and Leonard's story was nice. I like when they have scenes that remind the viewers why they're friends. I think Howard and Bernadette are moving into his mother's house because the set's already built.
  10. Have they said the father is dead? I thought he abandoned the family when Cristela was 4 years old, and Natalia raised the three children as a single mom. Why did they need to introduce the associate as a potential love interest? Just to make Josh jealous? Or because Cristela Alonso needs the validation that her character is desirable to men? After the sweet story line with Ama last week, I was disappointed to see how awful Alberto was this episode.
  11. I want to expand on my observation. The more I think about it, the more I've come to believe Jules was a tyrant. Her family and friends had to change themselves, their lives, basically anything that made them individuals to cater to her every whim. Jules guilted them every single moment of their lives so they would conform to what she wanted.Grayson was a strong, assertive man in the early episodes. He turned into Jules's pussy whipped bitch. Andy's sole source of happiness in his life -- Bobby -- escaped. And the less said about future serial killer Tom the better. Bet Brian Van Holt is really glad he got fired after the debacle of this last season.
  12. Seventy-five percent of Americans identify as Christian of some denomination. Christians are not an oppressed minority on the verge of extinction; it's time to put that trope to rest. Pointing out the hypocrisy of those who want their rights respected while seeking to make their fellow Americans permanent second class citizens is not intolerance. Also, a statement like that assumes that no Christian has protested against the anti-gay laws. That is not true. I am a Christian, and fear-mongering evangelical Christians playing the oppression card do not speak for me.
  13. But Howard doesn't do research, does he? Hasn't that been part of Sheldon's constant digs at him? Howard builds things; his work is practical, like the toilet on the space station.
  14. Actually, I think they took her even further. Didn't she used to be quiet and mousy? I think they retconned that she was always strong and assertive. So blaming the victim is cool when a woman is the abuser?
  15. Junior's death fantasy might have been a little too detailed, but I think every teen has had them. I don't recall that I was a particularly disturbed child, but I would imagine what would happen if my family was killed and I was left an orphan.
  16. Selhars -- There's also a show called "Mulberry" that lasted for two seasons (or series, as the British say) that's about 20 years old. The lead character is Death's son, who is sent to dispatch an old woman. He becomes determined to make her last days joyful. According to Wikipedia, it was supposed to last for three series, but the third was never made, so we never find out what happened to Mulberry and the old woman.
  17. To quote (or paraphrase) Roger, from "American Dad" in one of his personas: "Damn uterus, refreshing itself every month."
  18. I like this show. I discovered it on demand last summer and figured it was a summer burn-off, so I was surprised when it got renewed. I'm not a tremendous fan of Chris D'Elia, but I think he and Brent Morin have mad comic chemistry. They're a better "Odd Couple" than Matthew Perry and Thomas Lennon. Bridgit Mendler was a good addition to the cast, and she has been integrated really easily. I think I read somewhere that except for Bianca Kajlich (and Brigidt Mendler now), all the other cast members were stand-up comedians. I like how they laugh at each other's jokes, just like real people do in real life. I don't get why they had to make the ex-girlfriend/waitress kind of nasty at the end. You were cheating on your boyfriend, and he still (stupidly) offers his bar as your engagement party venue, and you're nasty about it. Maybe she was mad she got called on her shit?
  19. I must be honest. I thought the series ender was pretty high on the self-indulgent crap meter. I know they've been fairly consistent with Jules being the mother hen to the group, but this episode just ratcheted it up to infinity. I can't believe I used to think Grayson and Jules had chemistry, because their marriage was just uncomfortable to watch. I think Jules and Bobby made a better couple.Seriously, what did Brian Van Holt do or whom did he piss off that he was fired the last season of the show? His absence showed that he was a vital part of the cul de sac crew. It was pathetic that his last appearance was as an iPad, probably recorded at the same time he recorded the episode with the birth of baby Bobby. No, Tom, they did not always make you feel welcome. They treated you like shit. They used you as it suited them. I kind of wish the last episode had been Tom stalking and killing them all. it really bugs me that they all acted as though he'd been part of the group since the beginning. For a second, when Grayson tells Jules she got her present -- to hear what people would say about her at her funeral -- I thought we were going to find out she had died for real. (One of the most powerful episodes of "Scrubs" was the episode .) I did like the "What?" "What?" "What?" running gag. Otherwise, I really think the show went out with a whimper, not a bang. That's sad.
  20. He was joking about his children dying of thirst in a year because there would be no more water, and then asking why people were laughing about it. I think it's a serious topic and not really something joke worthy, but to each his own.I tried again last night, with the dancing kid. That segment was cute, but I just find Corden awkward. I'm not usually up that late anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
  21. I didn't like the character and I thought the actress was terrible. Sorry, didn't realize I had to provide justification.
  22. I felt sorry for Cuba Gooding Jr. Is his part in "Selma" very small? Because his clip was basically a trailer for the movie. I thought he was pretty funny though, and suitably shocked when Julianna Moore explained "minge" to him (I had to look it up). I needed my closed captioning on for Bill Bailey, but he had some funny segments. What was the male singer wearing on his head? It wasn't just a hat, almost like he was wearing a fitted hood or something. Liked the Riverdance segment too. The guy from the audience tried to keep up, and I thought he was doing OK. The girl just didn't bother.
  23. It didn't make sense to me. For starters, I really can't believe that there are absolutely no Hispanic associates at the firm -- other than an intern -- who would have been considered to sit at the counsel table. Also, if Troy wanted to show that his client wasn't a bigot, and wanted to sway the jurors, shouldn't he have had Cristela there during the voir dire, not just the last few days of the trial? I did like Cristela's explanation of the differences among how Latinos view one another. I like Alberto, partly because I like Gabriel Iglesias. I thought their story was really sweet, and I might have teared up when Alberto was talking about how Ama stepped in after his mother died. It seemed a step back. They've shown that Maddie has done good work before, so her being lazy all of a sudden didn't work for me. I am glad they followed through with showing that she is good when she puts her mind to it. I loved seeing Felix featured with his kids, and I loved his advice to Henry about how you treat women. They flirted with him being a moron dad, but I think they pulled it off that he really wasn't. I also thought Ama was hilarious with her feud with Juanita at the church bake sale. (I didn't get the deal with the cakes -- she says she made hers with three leches, which is Spanish for "milk," but Juanita made hers with five. Three different types of milk?) It's funny -- over at the "Odd Couple" forum, there was discussion about the updating of the ex-wives' names, but that you really couldn't change the names "Oscar" or "Felix" as the main characters, even though they were old-fashioned. Yet, I totally buy Carlos Ponce as a "Felix." (Maybe it's because he's hot, and "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.")
  24. Is it the season finale already? I see the thread title indicates this was episode 12, but it doesn't seem as though that many have aired on TBS. I was glad that it was a real thing that Stan shrunk down, not that he was going crazy again. When Steve came down to play with the toys, I thought we were going to get a Lego movie send-up. I was kind of disappointed we didn't, although I did like the "giant" ants (a la "Them"). I really didn't pay attention to Roger and Klaus's story about the wine tasting; it seemed like a stupid story line. Maybe they were referencing something I didn't get. I think Stan was wrong about it could have been him killed -- the first taxi was delayed because he and the young couple were talking. If he had gotten in to it right away, I think the sign would have missed him. Also, I'm convinced that "edgier" to TBS just means being able to say "shit." When the toy train failed to break the dam, and Stan swears, that was the only time I found the use of the word to be laugh-out-loud funny. He goes flying in to the air, the train crashes into the dam, but it doesn't break it (because the dam is plastic). Roger comes and saves the family, breaks the dam to flood the ants, and then eats the family.
