  1. From the New York Times: Joseph Wilson, Who Challenged Iraq War Narrative, Dead at 69 Until earlier this year, he was married to Valerie Plame. She was exposed as an undercover CIA operative during the Bush 43 Iraq War, which Mr. Wilson opposed.
  2. I think I remember (1 of) them saying they signed up to adopt through LPA, besides 1 or more other organizations, when they were going to try to become parents. Either before they started fertility treatments, after they started them, or after they, & surrogacy, failed.
  3. Yeah, Scott’s hair was the same style last season. He’s actually had (receding hairline) hair issues all 10 seasons, but the last 2 have been most pronounced. That “buzzed on the sides, full hair in the middle” look isn’t very flattering—but at least Scott didn’t go back to the “mohawk in the middle” look, as in 1 of those (I guess) early publicity pics of him which was also used as the pic Danny’s nephew Eric Emailed everyone in Danny’s phone book, in the episode where the Eric character was introduced, while he was still behaving like something of a delinquent & he hadn’t straightened out yet. If you ask me, he should just buzz cut his whole head, like Matt Lauer (only example I can think of) did a few years ago, when issues with his hair became noticeable. I think I might end up liking Quinn too. And it was interesting Tani & Junior were on another “just friends” (I guess that’s what they’re telling themselves it is) date tonight. Did everybody notice Alex (but not Scott) is now listed among the Producers, in the guest cast/production-related credits that air when the show comes back from the break after the teaser & opening titles? I’m guessing maybe Alex (finally) got the distinction since he’s also taken an interest in writing & directing episodes since last season, & he’s proven himself to be really good at those things, besides just portraying McGarrett (plus he always seems willing to do his share, or more, of promotion for the show & he seems to take his position as #1 on the filming call sheets seriously). Since that kind of title is usually given to the star(s) of a show(s) as a contract perk (when they aren’t part of the team who created the show to start with), I think I’m a little surprised Scott wasn’t also given a Producer credit this season; mostly since, during S1, I remember Peter Lenkov making a comment in an interview about how Alex & Scott would both probably have Executive Producer credits by Season 5. Again, I wonder if Scott’s lack of a Producer credit has something to do with how much he’s willing to do for the show, beyond acting in it. He hasn’t done talk shows to promote it in I don’t know how long (though, OK, it’s probably been awhile since Alex has done the talk shows too); Scott’s an accomplished screenwriter & director but, unlike Alex (or even Daniel Dae Kim, or Chi McBride), he hasn’t written or directed for the show; he hasn’t contributed to any DVD ep special features (which involve filming new material & not just using ep or blooper clips) or commentaries by the cast since S1, during which he was heard—among other things—not paying attention & making a noise as if he had fallen asleep & was jerked awake by a bad dream (whether he was acting or had legit fallen asleep during the commentary taping is perhaps debatable); he doesn’t regularly attend the Hawaiian blessing on the set at the beginning of the filming (though he has at least twice, I think); despite being listed as expected to attend all of them, Scott has also rarely attended the Sunset on the Beach season premiere celebrations, even though (or so I heard) he supposedly said he didn’t mind appearing at those because they were for the fans. And I know neither of the last 2 events involve mandatory attendance by the cast members. Finally, I noticed Steve’s dad’s toolbox from S1, with all the secrets in it, was where the bomber chose to put the bomb at McGarrett’s (I thought it was, anyway). It’ll be interesting to find out why that location was chosen, in particular. But it’s equally interesting to see that box show up again, if it has.
  4. Original Airdate: October 4, 2019 SOURCE: https://cbspressexpress.com/cbs-entertainment/shows/hawaii-five-0/releases/view?id=53510
  5. The Emmy people did apologize for using the picture of the very much alive Mr. Slatkin for the deceased Mr. Previn, however. Or so I’ve read.
  6. From WGN-TV, Chicago: ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Rick and Morty’ Emmy-Winning Producer, J. Michael Mendel, Dead at 54
  7. From the FDA: FDA Announces Recall of Select Ragú Pasta Sauces for Possible Plastic Contamination
  8. From USA Today: Watching ‘The West Wing’ 20 Years Later Can Be Depressing... and Hopeful
  9. From ET Online: Jared Padalecki to Star in ‘Walker, Texas Ranger’ Reboot
  10. I now have Hawaii Five-0 (the current reboot version) through & including Season 9–the most recent season to air (Season 10 premieres in the US, on CBS, probably in Canada & maybe some other countries next Friday night).
  11. Regarding the bolded: I got to meet Minnie Pearl too, during my era with the March of Dimes. She was a very nice lady, I agree. I got to meet her “out of character”, as it were. It’s interesting how different she was in real life, a genteel, wealthy, Southern matron, from the country spinster with a price tag on her straw hat, Minnie Pearl.
  12. They were estranged when he died. I think for a number of years now.
  13. And further congratulations go out to Bradley Whitford! He won the Emmy Award, earlier tonight, for Guest Actor in a Drama Series, for his portrayal of Commander Joseph Lawrence in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale. I think that makes 3 wins (TWW, Transparent, The Handmaid’s Tale) for 6 nominations (besides the 3 wins, 2 additional nominations for TWW, as I remember; 1 additional nomination for Transparent, for playing a totally different character than the 1 he won the Emmy for portraying the previous year/TV season). The Creative Arts Emmy Awards, during which they present the awards for Outstanding Performance by a Guest Actor/Actress in a Comedy &/or Drama Series, will be presented on the FXX (with 2 X’s) cable network next Saturday, September 21st. At least an edited version of the presentation of Bradley’s newest Emmy & the accompanying acceptance speech should air during their broadcast.
  14. From TV Line: Magnum P.I. Welcomes Original Series’ Rick, Larry Manetti, in Hawaii Five-0 Crossover’—Get a First Look
  15. From TV Line: Hawaii Five-0/Magnum P.I. Crossover Status: ‘We’ve Narrowed Down a Story’
  16. From USA Today—Sheriff: Singer Kylie Rae Harris Caused Car Crash That Killed Her and a 16-Year-Old Girl
  17. From WGN-TV Chicago: Former St. Louis Cardinals Player Chris Duncan Dies at 38 It was Cancer-related. He was originally diagnosed with the illness (a brain tumor) in 2012, 2 years after his retirement from baseball; he took time off from his subsequent job, in radio, for treatment. In January of this year, the Cancer returned & he permanently left his radio job to continue fighting the illness.
  18. From NBC-TV Los Angeles: Fascinating (I Think) Story of Real-Life Serious Health Issues Endured by Will Yun Lee (Sang Min)’s Young Son Will’s son Cash, now 3, suffered not 1 but 2 major strokes soon after he turned 3; he was diagnosed & underwent heavy-duty chemo treatment for a number of weeks, as well as took numerous prescription meds, based on this diagnosis—only to find he was MISDIAGNOSED & he actually had a rare cerebrovascular condition for which he needed to undergo pretty major brain surgery on each side of his head so that this condition would hopefully be corrected. Instead of reading the print copy at the linked article, it’s better to watch the 4-5 video screens embedded with the story (a whole local talk show, or a major part of 1, devoted to talking about what happened to Cash, which is posted in segments), because (I feel) you get more understanding of the severity of the situation Cash & his family went through that way. You also get to see numerous comments by Will Yun Lee (aka Sang Min) who, because of his filming various projects outside LA, describes things like having had to leave sets on an emergency basis when Cash took ill due to both strokes.
  19. They’re divorced, or in the process of getting 1. All they really showed onscreen was Adam apparently coming back from visiting her on the Mainland, or wherever she was working to help shut down the human trafficking network, & he wasn’t very happy (I think he got pretty drunk & Tani found him at home) & he started telling all their friends/ohana that Kono apparently ended things between them, or told Adam she wanted to, because they’d changed or at least she had.
  20. Regarding the bolded: Yes, Danny was there. He was in the Five-0 HQ, but I remember it being more like he apparently ran into the room where Steve, Jerry, the woman & her son were—but we didn’t see him; we only heard him exclaim “Oh my God!”, as he saw what happened, then they went to the ending credits that run without theme music & faded to black.
  21. Keri Russell appeared, along with other cast members from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the newest (& final) movie in the Star Wars franchise, at last weekend’s D23 Expo (the Disney Fans’ Convention) in Anaheim, CA. You can hear her being introduced early in this clip, but you can’t see her. She, along with another actor from the film (who apparently plays opposite her, but whom I don’t recognize) are interviewed from approximately 4:18-5:08 in the clip.
  22. Mary & Rhoda together again. May they Rest In Peace. I just hope the last line of Edward Asner’s tribute post to Ms. Harper, “I’ll see you soon.”, wasn’t as serious as it might’ve been meant—as in he meant it as age-related & not related to some illness he himself might have.
