  1. I wonder if the Motion Picture Academy has this year’s In Memoriam locked down yet? If they do, they should probably unlock it & add 1 person (at least, depending on what else happens between now & February 8 or 9; the Oscars are on February 9th). Most people have probably forgotten, but Kobe won an Oscar in 2018, as part of the team behind the Best Animated Short that year, Dear Basketball, which was based on something—the media’s calling it a poem—Kobe wrote on his retirement from basketball. So he deserves to be among those remembered at this year’s ceremony. I’m shocked by this (I slept most of the afternoon & awoke to learn the news at dinner time; when I saw the “Hot” designation on the thread, I figured somebody BIG must’ve passed, but I never dreamed it would be Kobe & his daughter). I’m saddened for Kobe’s family, friends, & other loved ones—sadly, he left 2 daughters, Bianka & Capri, who I think may not be old enough to remember Kobe, or Gianna, all that well (I think they’re pretty close in age, & only somewhere around preschool age, if even that). I’m also saddened, in a way, for the game of women’s basketball. Kobe had passed his love of the game on to his teenage daughter Gianna (aka GiGi); they were on their way to a game she was to play in when they were killed in the crash. Considering how talented Kobe was, it might’ve been interesting to see if Gianna was as good as, or possibly better than, her dad in the women’s game. Now we’ll never know. Kobe may not have been perfect (at least off the court). But then, none of us are. RIP&L Kobe & Gianna
  2. Regarding the bolded: With respect, the Cher song is just titled “Believe”; the first song in the mashup is “Ave (with an e, not an a) Maria”.

  4. Having seen Raeshondra on this week’s episode, Celeb Chef/Iron Chef Cat Cora & her then fiancée/now wife, & other lesbian brides/couples/weddings on the show, I wonder if the show gets a lot of “not exactly fan mail” for choosing to include lesbian brides’ appointments (which they’d find out/know about if the clients were famous & out, or when the consultant did the usual “So tell me about your fiancé...” inquiry) on the show (which you might argue could be a “family show”, to some) even though (happily) marriage equality has come to the US & it should be perfectly acceptable as part of the show.
  5. Regarding the bolded: Oh God! I wanted to SMACK that lady clear into the next solar system! What a BITCH! She said to the consultant (1 of the older ladies who’ve been on the show forever; not James, Shay, Goth girl or any of the other newbies—I think Lisa) she’d been a bridesmaid 21 times & picked the dress the bride wore 15 times. And then she mumbled smack talk under her breath, but I thought still noticeably, about how bad she thought the dresses were, the consultant was, probably about Kleinfeld in general, & other stuff related to the appointment (at which point, if I’d been the consultant... I wanna say it was Lisa... I’d have kicked her out of the building, or at least out of the appointment area). Hopefully Randy would’ve said something to the bitchy friend if he’d been there. She needed a talking to. Then, like you said, @dbell1, she (probably knowing what the dress budget was, & probably having looked at the price tag), probably deliberately picked a dress $3400 over budget, probably knowing her friend the bride would fall in love with it—& then got mad at the consultant for letting her bring the dress into the dressing room. They really oughta discourage the entourages from pulling dresses, &/or tell them something like “You (should) know what the budget is (if any); if you must pull a dress/dresses PLEASE check the price tag so your dress(es) is/are within budget.” Because, of course, the bride fell in love for the dress she couldn’t have, & walked out with no dress. Which I don’t think was fair to her—everything seemed to be going well, despite the friend’s smack talking the dresses & Kleinfeld, until the dress the bride loved but couldn’t afford got picked; then it fell apart, or whatever adjectives were used in the show to describe the collapse of the appointment.
  6. I’m pretty sure Hillbilly Hot Dogs is also famous, besides this, for being on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives more than once (Guy visited more than once, once for the initial visit, & I think again for 1 or more special theme shows the restaurant fit in) & they were part of a DDD feature story involving fans of the show who were traveling around the country, visiting (or trying to) every place that had been featured on the show so far, at that point.
  7. Unless they changed it, it’s actually 52 brides/couples—besides the 50 states they’re supposed to be including couples from 2 US territories/possessions (or maybe Washington, DC & a US territory/possession, I’m not positive; I don’t think they’ve specified where the extra 2 couples will be from, other than somewhere that’s considered part of America).

  12. At least they were able to give Junior an excuse for being absent in the plot (his SEAL team was called up for maneuvers or something—I forget exactly what). That’s more than they do for Danny most episodes when he’s gone. And I have no idea why Quinn is suddenly going MIA about every other week. As far as I know Katrina Law was hired for a full time role & she’s not working on other shows (or movies, etc.) at the same time.
  13. Regarding the bolded: The head of the Yakuza is the oyabun; not the obayun. Just a small spelling error.
  14. Regarding the bolded: No they didn’t, which bugs me. But at least every so often they say he’s off doing something with 1 or both of his kids (usually), like scouting colleges with Gracie, which I like. Or if Danny was wounded in the previous ep, they might say he’s off recovering from that. But they still don’t do it every week he’s written out, which I think they should.
  15. Adam wasn’t gone. There was a scene where Tani called him on the phone & talked about him suddenly leaving Five-0 after his current girlfriend, who has ties to the Yakuza, was kidnaped & rescued, & I think her father was killed, & she said she wanted to get together with him to talk about that, & that they’re (him & Five-0) still family, & stuff like that. Then we saw him pick up his passport, open it, & look at an airline boarding pass for a flight between Honolulu & 1 of the airports in Tokyo, it looked like (I’ve traveled a lot so I know a lot of airport codes; I got a better look at the Honolulu code, but it looked like he was supposed to have been flying to Narita International Airport in Tokyo, though they might’ve also doctored the code somewhat, which they didn’t do with Honolulu’s), or somewhere else in Japan. Then he left his house. Danny was gone the first half. I wasn’t sure if it was weird the CIA also detained him in the second half sInce he didn’t work the case, or not. Yes, but it’s still not as long as the Steve/Catherine “Will they?/Won’t they? (get married) has been.
  16. What about Rob Lowe’s & Demi Moore’s characters?
  17. Years long drawn out story? The characters of Tani & Junior were only introduced in Season 8 & this is Season 10–that’s 2 seasons they’ve been on the show. I don’t consider that a really long drawn out story in comparison to some, like maybe Steve & Catherine for example.
  18. Regarding the bolded: I don’t think they’d have ever worked out a new deal with Grace Park. I saw on TV (or maybe read) an interview somewhere, where she finally opened up a little about why she left H50; she used the term “boy’s club” in referring to the atmosphere, I guess you’d say, on the set. That usually doesn’t make a female cast member feel welcome at some point. Another example involving a female lead leaving a TV show, & describing said show using that terminology, involved the actress who played the original female lead on The A-Team. She left that show during its run, was replaced by another actress, then later commented about the set being “a real boy’s club”. When females describe their working conditions in that way, it’s usually not meant positively.
