  1. I think you are right. There are ways now to search that were not available years ago. I have a good handle on my father's family, but I'm stuck on my mother's side. So many church records were lost during WWII. I have had no luck finding anyone so far. I have not heard if my friend's brother has had any luck.
  2. A friend's brother was the genealogist of the family. Hours of research over many years. Then he did the Ancestry test. Turns out he is not biologically related to his family. Both parents are dead, and he has no idea who his birth family is. Unfortunately, he and my friend hardly speak, so he really has no family. It was quite a shock.
  3. I have noticed my computer is much slower on this site. This has been happening for the past couple of days.
  4. I would feel terrible for Tim if Momma wrote and posted it and he had nothing to do with it. I think that is a good possibility. Poor Tim. No education and no future.
  5. I was able to get my first dose yesterday. We have Walgreens pharmacies here, and because I have a loyal card. they sent me an email Tuesday saying that they had limited quantities available. I replied immediately and got a spot for the next morning. I immediately called my friend, but she had trouble logging on. She kept at it, and her husband got an appointment yesterday, also. Turns out they post the schedule in the morning for the following day, and take it down when the slots are full. Another local pharmacy chain is doing the same thing. If it hadn't been for having my loyalty card I may not have known about the availability. Based on my experience, you might what to make sure you have a loyalty card at all the pharmacies near you. You have to act fast! I heard a discussion today about an oral vaccine that looks promising and that may be available in a few months.
  6. I arrange most things by color in my closet. I leaned that tip in a workshop once, and it does make it easier to find what I'm looking for.
  7. I remember Jana was very embarrassed about getting dressed up. But she did as she was forced to do.
  8. Thank you @MargeGunderson. I will check it out.
  9. OK, bread makers. I need your suggestions. I bought a Hamilton Beach bread maker with a gluten-free setting. I followed the recipe that someone here posted. The first time, the bread did not rise and sank in the middle. The I did some research on using the bread maker at high altitude (I'm at 4700 feet). I'm using Bob's Red Mill 1:1 gluten-free flour. I found a chart from Bob's that gives gram weight instead of cup measures, so I know my flour amount is correct. This time I added less 1/2 tsp less yeast, 2 tsp less sugar, 2 TBL less water, and 2 TBL more flour. Those were the suggestions I found on line. The yeast is brand new. The eggs were room temp. I cannot adjust the heat in the bread machine. This time it rose better, but it still sank (but not as much). Anyone have any ideas? I'm trying to load a picture, but it is being stubborn.
  10. If I remember correctly, Jessa got rid of their bed frame and put the mattress on the floor. That looks like a wall that needs painting to me.
  11. I keep a duvet on my down comforter all the time. I have several so there is always a clean one.
  12. I got the next-to-last appointment in 4 counties this morning. I will have an hour's drive, but it is a pretty drive, so I will do it. Here you make an appointment (instructions say don't show up early), and you are automatically scheduled for the 2nd dose. The only appointments available now are for the 2nd dose. So, Wednesday I will take a nice drive and get my first dose.
  13. I quit drinking soda about 6 years ago. Just quit. I use my Soda Stream for carbonated water every single day. It is the one "gadget" that I truly use. I don't use any of the flavors with it. I just like plain, carbonated water (it also is useful for wine spritzers). I highly recommend it if you are trying to stop drinking soda. The cylinders are easy to replace and are available at Bed Bath and Beyond and Target. I also use the exchange program on the Soda Stream website. You receive your order, put your empties in the box, put on the included label and give it to the postman. Easy Peasy. FYI, the machine has a lifetime guarantee. I can't imagine life without my Soda Stream. I drink a lot of water everyday, and using this is a lot cheaper than buying bubbly water--and tastes so good.
  14. Thanks @zoomama. I will check out the book. I wonder if my recipe would work in a bread machine. Now I want to make bread!
  15. Thanks. I have never tried a packaged bread mix. I use a recipe I found on line which uses 3 types of rice flour and tapioca flour. It is easy because you use one bag of white rice flour, one bag of brown rice four, one bag of sweet rice flour, one bag of tapioca flour, and a couple of other ingredients that I don't remember right now. This makes enough mix for several loaves, so I just keep the mix in an air-tight container so it is ready when I want bread. I haven't looked for the ingredients in the store in my new local yet. I need to do that. Store-bought GF bread is not very good. The one brand I do like is not available here.
  16. Some church hired Pecan Thief, so I guess anything is possible. I have always felt that Ben has more on the ball than people think. I do think it is very odd that the church name was not mentioned. In the picture, it did look like an actual building and not a house. I do not see Jessa as a Pastor's wife, however. I think she is too self-centered.
  17. Can you tell me where to find a GF bread recipe that will work in a breadmaker? For some reason I thought it had to have gluten to work in the machine. I mix my dough in the stand mixer and bake it in the oven, but a bread machine would be so much easier.
  18. I just received an email from my cousin in Texas. It is snowing at Lake Buchanan, and he said it is sticking and very pretty.
  19. Why was he riding a bike in the house? I know, silly question since they also roller skate in the house (while carrying glass dishes).
  20. I think Jana was also an accountability partner for JB so he could go to the meetings. No way could he have gone alone.
