My parents always tried to buy a car WITHOUT a radio because they never listened to music--even in the house. They liked music, and liked to dance, but liked quiet in the house and car. The car dealer would explain that he couldn't order a new car without one, but it was aways just the basic radio. My dad made sure the delivery car for his business did not have a radio, however. He didn't want the high school kids who he hired to make deliveries to be driving around with loud music, so he had the radio removed. I, on the other hand, am very thankful for XM radio in my car and my house. When I was a kid and was with my aunts and uncles, we never played the radio in the car. My aunt's car radio was always broken. So we all sang. A lot. For miles. And those car rides are some of my happiest memories.

There could be an interesting discussion on the ingredients of toothpaste. You could invite dental professionals to talk about the correct way to use the product. This would be much more informative--and more helpful--than the Vuolo's book. What can they possible discuss in a book group? Maybe printed sermons from Jer?

Isn't Harold the guy that set an actual date when the world would end (the Second Coming)? I read that there were people who gave all their money and possessions away because they would not need it after X date. He damaged a lot of people.

It looks like it might be a rail road car. Or maybe a dumpster. -
My cat blanket started early today. They aren't too interested in the ball game. I am always amazed at how much cats can sleep.

You might try toothpaste or Dawn Power Scrub.

I visited my mom yesterday in her assisted living home. She has dementia. She was dressed in pants and a blouse, and was wearing her Mary Jane shoes with white ankle socks. The problem was the socks were white with gray heels. She was wearing them upside down with the gray heels on top of her foot. I think she could use Right and Left Socks, but hers would also need to be marked "top" and "bottom"!

That aquarium should not be sitting on a bookcase shelf like that. Water is heavy, and that shelf cannot hold that much weight for very long. That is going to fall and hurt someone---and the fish and snails. Aquariums should be on an aquarium stand that is built for the weight and accessibility. Those shelves appear to be adjustable, which are not for holding that kind of weight.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events

In the county I used to live in in California, a bench warrant was issued if you didn't show up for Jury duty. I was called for Jury Duty, and all the prospective jurors had to wait in the jury room because the Judge was using the courtroom to address all the people they had arrested for Jury Duty no-show. You are given a chance to defer your service to a time that is better for you. You just have to return the summons and tell them what date you want to be called. Really no excuses for not showing up. "I never received the summons" doesn't fly. -
I was in California yesterday and today, and had to stay overnight in Stockton. Anyone living in California knows Stockton's crime reputation, so I decided to stay at the Hilton since it has a guarded parking lot, and security. Last night at 2:00 AM the fire alarm went off, and we had to evacuate. Now, do you take the time to get dressed? What do you take? I was wearing my nightshirt which is a heavy cotton material, but I had no robe. So I put my blouse on over my nightgown, grabbed my purse, my car key, my phone, and my room key. Luckily I was on the 2nd floor, since I have trouble with stairs. Most people seemed to be dressed--or maybe most people sleep in sweats?? One guy brought all his luggage. It was interesting to see how other people reacted. My car was parked close to the building, so I sat in my car and just watched. It turned out there was no fire, and the smoke was from a belt on some compressor (or that was the story given this morning). It is a non-smoking hotel, and it is possible someone was smoking in their room and the smoke went into the vent and set off the alarm. That was the story last night. Anyway, after 30 minutes we were allowed back in to go back to bed. I guess the lesson I learned is to be sure to put my keys, purse and room card in one place, and know where my glasses are. This was excitement I could have easily lived without. Never fear you won't hear a hotel fire alarm. There is NO WAY you can sleep though the alarm and the strobing light in your room!!

My Informed delivery is not very reliable. It will say 0 mail and 0 packages arriving today, but I find 5 pieces of mail and 6 packages. But it is better than not having it, I guess

I avoid Tots at all costs. When I was still teaching, I slipped on a Tater Tot in the school cafeteria. I had two shoulder surgeries. Please be careful if you drop one in your kitchen. They are very slippery.

I'm waiting for the all game to start on TV, and I flipped to the Olympic Channel. I have never seen group rhythmic gymnastics before. It is a really interesting sport. These girls have had such a lot of training. I guess part of my amazement is that I can't walk across a board sitting the ground without teetering, and these routines are so complicated.

Maybe this is a clue to her digestive problems. -

How can you even make salmon look like that? Wrapping salmon in foil and putting it in the oven works well, too, and without having to clean the Instapot. I don't think I've eaten cooked fish that I've had in the refrigerator for more than a couple of days. A week? I don't think so. -
Didn't their fans who preordered have to pay full price?

My brother took my mom to his house for Mother's Day, and then Face Timed with me. She couldn't tell me what she had just eaten for lunch, and could only say it was a nice day. I don't think she knew who I was. I'm going to see her in person later this week, but I'm not holding out much hope that she will know me. I hope I can find her wedding rings. My brother tossed her apartment and didn't find them, but I will look again. I'm afraid she lost them down the sink or in the trash. She doesn't have any idea that they are lost. She was so unsteady yesterday my brother dragged an old walker out of his garage and told her to use it. She won't remember. He is going to have the facility do a mobility evaluation today so we can get her the proper equipment. If she remembers to use it. I'm surprised the care givers haven't done this already, but my mom refuses go to the dining room or to any activities, so I'm sure they don't have a reason to notice. At least she is being compliant. Her feelings of being better than other people is not working well in her old age.

Jill and Derek are probably busy with their own celebration of the graduation. I hope they think that is more important than "thanking" someone who didn't offer protection to you as a child.

Most delivery services have an option for no substitutions. The service I use has a check mark by each item before you check out. You can specify what items not to substitute. I was getting house brands instead of the name brands that I ordered. Some I don't mind, but some I do. So I make sure to check the "do not substitute" box by those items. Often the service will have a place where you can leave a note. That works, too.

I forgot all about Casey's. I've never purchased food at a Casey's, but there is usually a line for food. I'll remember that for the next time I'm in Iowa. The gas station I first mentioned is no where as elaborate as a Casey's. I'm pretty sure it is a one-of. -

If another party (like Anna) knew about this on his computer, could that person also be arrested?
