Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore
CalicoKitty replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
We don't know what Kody's restrictions are. Maybe they are strange and over-the-top, like only one person in each room, or wearing a garbage bag over your clothes when you come inside. I wouldn't put anything past him. He will do anything for attention. -
I still get emails on the doings at the church I attended before I moved. It was an American Anglican Church (I was in charge of all the music). They are starting a new Bible study based on the book of John. The text they are using was written by---John AcArthur. The priest they have now is a former Baptist missionary, so I guess he is familiar with, and likes, McArthur's writing. I'm glad I moved.

Well, the smoke is getting worse. Tahoe was evacuated yesterday, and the evacuation center in Gardnerville is now full. There have been bear and mountain lion sightings around my neighborhood (poor animals). I am usually just fine being alone, and I enjoy spending time reading and watching tv, but I am missing being able to spend ANY time outside. My poor cats sleep in their beds all day because they think it is time to go to bed. Luckily, I have some N95 masks to use if I do have to go outside. There are times the ash it looks like it is snowing outside. Hopefully this will get under control soon.

This is so sad on many levels. Is there any law in Arkansas about using your phone while you drive? Talk about distracted drivers.

Not sure if this is possible for you, but I used to take my dad (and his walker) to the local nail salon to have his nails cut. They would take care of him as soon as we walked in, and charged a nominal fee. I would make an appointment just for a nail cut, and. we would be out of there very quickly. I usually did make an appointment rather than "walk in" because I thought we would do better without having to wait. He could not speak, and was not very steady even with his walker, and the staff was always very nice.

Just a tip with the bottles. Denture tablets work wonders on cleaning the inside of antique bottles and jars.

RE: People vs animal meds. Personally, I don't think an occasion will ever arrive that I will purposely take medicine that is made to treat animals, especially without FDA approval. It makes no sense to me. However, vets can and do prescribe people meds for animals. Over the years, I have taken a prescription from the vet to the pharmacy for "people" antibiotics and pain meds for my cat. "Lily, (feline) was typed on the label. However, it was not covered by my "people" insurance. But she is now on file at the pharmacy. Luckily, she had all of her teeth removed, so she will not need the meds for her teeth again. I'm not sure why the vet didn't give me the meds, but the pharmacist said they fill animal prescriptions somewhat regularly.

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
CalicoKitty replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
Taking my thoughts to the prayer closet. -
They don't fire actual bullets, I don't think. But they are loud. A 21 gun salute is usually 7 men firing 3 shots each, so you hear 7 at once times 3. It is not one guy firing 21 times. The ceremony is very impressive. They fold the flag that has been on the casket with precision, and then present it to the next of kin. At the services that I have been to, they fire the salute while everyone was still inside, but I have never been to an outside burial with the guns.

We are still covered in smoke here. The sun is visible today, but the mountains aren't. I stayed home from church as the AQI was over 300. It just safer to stay inside. The cats are not too happy with the closed windows, but that's the way it has to be right now.

Shoes on her feet (that seem to fit) and no tights. "Steps" in the right direction. -
Robyn Brown: She wanted the family, but got stuck with the man.

Have there been any Robyn sightings lately? I wonder if that huge lump on her neck has resolved, or if she received any medical care. -
This is the sky today. The first picture is the sun this morning. The middle picture is across the street, and the last one is my "mountain view" this afternoon. Really, there are beautiful mountains about 10 miles away. It is so gloomy. Cars need headlights, and I'm glad I can stay inside. I bought a large Conway air purifier when I first moved here, and was starting to doubt my expenditure, but I am so glad I have it now. Another fire has started in N California, and we are getting all the smoke (and bears). This is my usual mountain view. Quite a difference.

Tonight's cat blanket. Lily is using Flora as a pillow tonight. They are hoping that the smoke is better tomorrow so they can sit on the window sill and watch the world. Today the smoke was so bad I couldn't see the mountains. Cars had to have headlights on.

Question: Were they asked to go to Haiti? How are they getting money for "unloading boxes"? Where are they getting the patients to transport? Who gets chosen to be flown out? Are they charging the people they fly somewhere? Just how does their organization work? I guess I have more than one question. I would trust an established organization before some small group of unknowns.

I just can't get over how dangerous that "swimming" in the culvert was. I know they didn't check to find out what was in the water, but did they check to see how long that tunnel was? We have a culvert pipe near me that is used for flood protection, and it goes underground for at least a mile. I actually don't know how long that "tunnel" is, but I have never seen the other end. I would hope Best Mama Ever checked to make sure it was open on the other side. Those poor kids could have been in that pipe for a long time with no way go backwards. Wet heavy clothing and unknown water. Yep, sounds very safe to me. Let's post it and repost it again!

About the post with the picture of Maddie. I really thought the post was a satire written by one of our clever people. Was the actually a real post?? Unbelievable. -

It would have been nice if she had had her hair CUT instead of whatever she did to it. -

I wonder--did he not renew his license, or was it pulled after the law suit? Did we ever hear the outcome of that? -
I wish I had neighbors who had tomatoes. I so miss my aunt's garden in Iowa. There is nothing better than midwest-grown tomatoes. Memories...........
