But he is one of the most educated people in the bunch (scary, I know). He did manage to graduate from college. However, this does not mean he could even begin to teach Kindergarten. It takes a lot more than "book knowledge" and lectures. (Been there, did the job for 38 years.)

Since I can't eat wheat, I appreciate the endless salad. Most people I know opt for other restaurants, however. I only had one friend that always picked OG when we went out to lunch, and other friends asked not to go there. I get the idea that you either like it, or you don't like it, with little middle ground. I would hate to pay the bill for the number of people in this group. Of course, it is usually just the "grown ups". And someone other than Jill pays, so......

The Other Duggars: The Lost Girls and Amy

Interesting. Butter knives and table knives have always meant two completely different types of knives to me. -

Does she mean table knives when she refers to butter knives? I don't know many people that have/use specific butter knives anymore. I have several, but they are sterling and not used every day. Butter knives are much smaller than table knives. Regardless of size, it is not cute to allow you kid to throw any tableware. -
@BetyBee, I hope you are feeling better soon. Back pain is terrible. Thumbs up for the Sleep Number bed. I absolutely love mine (and so do my cats!). It is so nice go be able to adjust how hard or soft it is. And they last so long. I replaced my 20-year-old Sleep Number mattress a couple of years ago, but only because some part was lost in my move. Wishing a good recovery for your cousin.

My tree this year. I always put cat-proof ornaments on the lower 1/4 of the tree, and the top 3/4 is all vintage and antique ornaments. I have a lot of family ornaments that are over 100 years old. So far, my cats have paid no attention to the tree. A quick sniff when I first put the bare tree up, and then no interest at all. I have found that leaving the tree bare for a day satisfies their curiosity. This is a new tree this year, and it can be controlled by voice through Alexa. It is very convenient to be able tell it to turn off or on. It will change colors and light pattens by voice, too.

My silver tabby can match any dog for stealing food. She is obsessed. She will sit next to me at dinner, and if I turn my head something will be missing from my plate. And she steals food very fast. I have to put a picnic net over any food when I leave it on the counter to cool. My other cat doesn't care what food is around, but Flora is as untrustworthy around food as my brother's late Weimaraner. And she would eat anything. My brother lost his Weim last month, and he is getting a Whippet puppy this weekend. The breeder is very particular about how to care for her puppies, and has assigned two books he must read before he can take the puppy home. I have been having fun looking for Whippet clothes, and I did buy a little jacket for her to wear while she is a little puppy. They are so lean, and have so little body fat, that they need to wear a sweater or jacket or coat in cool weather. I am amazed at the wardrobes available especially for Whippets, Greyhounds, and Italian Greyhounds. Who knew??

The Other Duggars: The Lost Girls and Amy

I wonder is she has already contacted Food Network to see when Daxie can be on the kid's baking show. He would have to be out his wagon, however. -
My cat blanket is working very well tonight. They have me covered, and nice and cozy. We may get some snow this week, which they will enjoy watching from the window sill INSIDE.

I've been in the grocery store when the the fire fighters were shopping. They received a call and left their basket in the isle and jumped on the engine parked in front. They waste no time.

I don't understand wanting a fireplace in California. There are so many days that fireplace burning is not allowed it does not seem worth adding that to the wish list anymore.

But she stepped outside of his comfort zone (and control). These fundy husbands take their right of unbrellaship seriously. -
Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events

I wonder what would happen if he "found religion" while inside and came out a Catholic. JB would probably keel over. -
I'm going to guess that J & K are positively thrilled with the space in their house. My parents started married life in a very small "house trailer" with a 3/4 size bed. It was parked in their friend's backyard, and my parents used the bathroom in the basement of their house. They bought an actual house in a couple of years, but just the fact that they had their own "home" was thrilling to them. J & K would have so much more room if they could get rid of all of Jill's junk, but I'm afraid they are stuck with it. I'm happy that they seem so happy.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage

THIS!! I hate this commercial. -
I think Newbie appears to be a cute little baby, and the birthing center sounds like it has actual trained personnel. I do feel sorry for Nemo, however. His attention is now split in half (or less). I hope he is not expected to sit on a blanket most of the time. I hope they grifted a NEW car seat for little Newbie.

After waiting about 4 months, my new sofa arrived this morning. And---it is the wrong sofa. I ordered a smaller sofa (bigger than a love seat) that is a double recliner, and is motorized. It arrived as a manual recline. I like the size, I like the style, I like the leather I ordered. So now I have to wait another 4 months for it to arrive again. The store is letting me keep this one to use until the correct one arrives, which is nice of them, but after all the conversations I had with the custom order guy I am really surprised the order was not correct. So is the order guy. I'm glad I can use this one for the time being since I have already given my old one to a family who wanted it. I'm also glad I purchased from a local store. I think it would have a lot more problem making the correction with an on-line seller. Oh, well. At least people can sit in my living room.

Speaking from experience, you can instruct, remind, and cajole and beg elderly patients over and over and over to call for help to get out of bed, and they still try anyway. Especially someone who has had a stroke or other memory issues. My dad fell so many times that the nursing home finally lowered the bed down to the floor. That way he would just roll onto a mat on the floor rather than falling. Getting up by herself contributed to my mother's death. She fell and hit her head (hard) and died the following week. She couldn't remember to pull the call cord. Jill's Ma probably doesn't have the ability to remember instructions. My question is, why was she alone at night? If she was not at her own home, she should not been alone without help. I'm amazed that no one in her family realized that she was not able to be "obedient" and follow directions. Or did they just put her in strange surroundings and expect her to get herself to the bathroom? Falls happen, but with so many family members around her, why was no one there to help her? (Or was someone there and she fell while being "helped"? That can also happen). I asked why the nursing home did not put the side rails up on my dad's bed, and was told that (in California, at least) side rails constitute "restraint", and --get this--"a patient has the right to fall". He could have only one half-rail up at a time. Go figure.

If Jill really cared about Kaylee, she would have made sure she looked perfect. I can't believe any mother, especially a mother with a beautician's certificate, would not make sure the bride looked as perfect as possible. Kaylee's appearance is rather shocking to me. It's almost like Jill is playing a joke, so they can laugh at the pictures for years to come. (I notice Jill's hair and clothing is not laugh-worthy). And I agree with a comment above. She looks hung over.

One of my uncles was 5'5" tall and of hefty build. When his son was married, he had to wear a white suite. The rental company made sure the suit fit him well. True, the pants legs were folded under up to his knees when hemmed, and the jacket sleeves were turned under several inches, but the suit looked "finished" and he looked great. I can't imagine anyone in the rental business allowing their customers to walk out of their store with an ill-fitting suit. My real puzzlement is that ALL of the grooms look messy. Do they all go to the same tux-rental place??
