I am surprised that Nemo is not sitting quietly in the corner on a blanket by now.

I think it will be worse than Nurie's. I'm sure the "education" dilutes with each generation.

I wonder if they ever had him checked out by a real doctor after the car accident. His dad was cited for Nemo not being in a car seat, if I remember correctly.

The "purchased" items look like things that a mom with other small children would already have. Unless she needs a separate baby cam or breast pump for each kid. I'm not convinced this is real.

I did not realize that they made dolls with prosthetic limbs. What a good idea. They even have Barbie and Ken dolls, and even a Barbie in a wheel chair. In just a quick search I only saw prosthetic legs, no arms. But maybe there are and I just didn't see them. I only checked quickly on Amazon.

The kids were shown skating in the house on the show. The incident I remember with a shudder is Joy skating in the house while carrying a glass casserole dish from the kitchen to the table. They also rode bikes in the house on TV.

I think it would feel kind of strange seeing my lawyer's kissing pictures on social media. Or making snow angels while wearing shorts and flip-flops, for that matter.

Was learning to tell time on an analog clock part of the Duggar home school program? I wonder if all of the kids learned to read a clock growing up. Not that they paid attention to time, according to what was shown on TV. I just wonder if they can teach their children how to tell time.

Well, the wind is howling and it is pouring rain. According to the forecast, we will be getting rain and some snow for the next two weeks. Not only do we have weather warnings, but now flood warnings, too. I hope not too many people will have floods or mud slides. I think my neighborhood should be ok. All this snow and rain after the forest fires the last 2 years is not a good situation, however. I had to run some errands after my dentist appointment this morning, and I arrived home about 10 minutes before the rain started. It is really coming down. Tomorrow is garbage day, and I had to put my can out tonight. I hope it is still there in the morning. I don't want to have to go all over the neighborhood looking for it. The wind is pretty strong. This has been a long, long winter. It seems like I have been stuck in the house forever. I'm glad I don't have any reason to go out, but it would be nice to be in the sunshine sometime. As long as my power stays on, I will be okay. I have plenty of cat food on hand, so no worries.

I'm not sure if Austin works with family or not. I will not be surprised if Giddy ends up working for him, however. Hopefully he will learn basic math and be able to read forms and receipts. I don't know how well Joy can read or what math skills she has. Giddy probably won't learn more than she knows, especially in the 30 minutes a day she says she "has school".

I don't think these parents understand the concept of "potential". The parents get attention for having a baby. Nothing is expected from said child as far as education or career. They just need to learn to instantly obey and quote scripture. They are not to have any curiosity about anything. The boys will have some kind of job working for a relative. The girls will marry and have babies. "What do you want to be when you grow up?" is not a question they are ever asked because there are no choices. So clear speech or being able to control one's behavior in an age-appropriate manner just doesn't matter. So why should the parents take the time for "school" or speech therapy? And so the cycle continues.

In our family, watches were given for special occasions. I still have my aunt's Confirmation watch from the early 1920's. I have my Confirmation watch, but the face is so small I don't wear it. I think it is great that Jill's boys can tell time and like wearing a watch. As mentioned in a post above, maybe they will learn that the world does not exist on Duggar Time.

I saw a very cute commercial yesterday. I think it was a Subaru commercial. A golden retriever was driving the car into the garage, and another dog was guiding him in and telling him when to stop. Then the car's windshield touches the tennis ball that is hanging as a parking guide. The driver dog starts barking at the hanging ball, and getting excited. The dog outside the car gives him a look and goes inside. The actual commercial is much cuter than my description. It made me laugh.

Maybe one of her downline ladies just showed her how to use Facebook. So much for listening to her son-in-law's sermon about social media. Maybe she didn't do a page for Nurie because she knows her husband would not like it. Oh, wait, scratch that idea. I don't think Jill cares about other people's feelings, at all.

The fact that Jill is not a "friend" yet leads me to believe that she is running this Facebook Page and just saying it is Tim's. Why would he be "friends" with a lot of her downline ladies?

I think what is bothering me about this new show is how very rude the staff is. In San Marie they all thought he was a bit strange, but they never were rude to his face. I can't find any redeeming features in any of the people on his staff. Even the neighbor with the chickens was over the top rude. I'm hoping the show improves because I like him as a detective.

Did we ever get real confirmation that he was in trouble and was in solitary? That "news" seemed to disappear quickly.

One thing Jessa posted a while back caught my attention. She said something about getting "baby fever" because babies are so cute. To me, that's like people that adopt puppies for their cuteness and then abandon them when they get too big. She should take whatever training her local hospital has, and go be a "baby holder". Our NICU had people that came in and just sat and held babies for interaction and enrichment while the nurses did their jobs and their parents were at work. Then she could look at all the cute babies without having to worry about their "education". She would actually be providing a service, though, so I guess this is not in her wheelhouse.

I had large area rugs on top of the carpet in the dining room and living room at my old house. But mine were thick, heavy wool rugs that did not wrinkle or turn up at the corners. Actually, I loved the wool rugs, and have them on hard floor now. If my cat had to throw up, I always hoped she would do it on the wool rug. Wool rugs clean up so easily with no staining. Synthetic fiber carpet stains. But this rug that Joy has on carpet is very thin and wrinkled. It is a tripping hazard. (Off topic but related to rugs on carpet. In my old house I had new carpet put in. The carpet guys were not even out of my driveway, and both cats had thrown up on the new carpet. I wish they were on the wool rugs, because I had stains on the brand new carpet that never really came out completely.)

I wish she would fix that corner of the rug before someone trips.

I wonder how much Philip listens to, and pays attention to, what the other students are saying. I wonder if he is learning anything new, or if he is so indoctrinated by his BME that he cannot except any new thoughts.

I would never have thought to wear a shiny "silk" top and a "silk" tie belt with a denim shirt. Maybe she is getting her styling advise from watching QVC. This outfit would fit right in with some of the stuff they sell. (actually it is better than some that they have tried to sell)

California has had years with very little or no rain, and then a winter where there is flooding. Several years of drought has happened several times. Rain during the summer months is almost unheard of. If there should be a slight rain one day in the summer--which may happen every few years--you see people wearing their heavy winter coats because if it raining, it must be winter. I was talking about all the rain there had been in Iowa one summer, and some people were surprised that there were places that it rained in the summer. (Obviously not people who travel much) Years with no rain California is a real thing.

How does she know if these random contacts are the "correct" kind of "Christians"? Or is she also looking for "saving" possibilities. She really is the queen of grift.

Years ago, we had not had rain for about 7 years in CA. I was teaching in a 1st grade classroom when the sky suddenly opened up and we had a downpour. The kids were scared, and I realized that most of them had never actually seen rain. We went out on the covered sidewalk, and it was fun to see their amazement that water was falling from the sky. They were sticking their hands and arms in the rain, and were very excited. In the late 70's we had real snow in the Central Valley. I was teaching Kindergarten, and I let the kids go out on the lawn in front of the school and play in the snow. They had so much fun. It has not snowed in that area since.
