Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
CalicoKitty replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
JB is slipping on his job. At least 2 of the girls are old enough to be courting. Serious question--do you think JB might be having trouble finding husbands for his daughters? I wonder how many people are keeping their distance from this family now. -
Have you ever had a head CT or MRI? I hate to sound scary, but a head CT after a bad session of vertigo is how they discovered my brain tumor. Apparently, lots of people have non-cancerous tumors that grow over many years, and are not discovered until something doesn't feel right and they have a CT scan. See what your doctor thinks. Good luck.

Heidi's mother posted a couple of months ago that they have the dress ordered (apparently from a bridal salon and not a thrift shop or borrowed), the venue is set (apparently a real wedding venue and not crashing the in-law's anniversary dinner (see Nurie), and that the caterer is reserved (so apparently a real wedding reception with food (again see Nurie.) I feel this will be a very nice occasion as opposed to Jessa's melting ice cream in the parking lot. This preparation time may seem long for a typical Fundie wedding, but I think this will be a very nice occasion. I get the feeling that Heidi's family has much higher standards than the Duggars or Tim's family.

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp

Could be. I have always felt sorry for her. Joy was supposed to be her buddy, but Jana got the job because Josie was so ill. How you could pass off a fragile newborn to a daughter to care for, even it is the oldest daughter, is beyond me. -

Josie was a micro premie. She may have some delays. We have seen her act much younger than her age. Being the youngest, I'm sure she has been babied. And I doubt "school" is being taught or of much importance anymore. Education has never been shown to be of much importance in this family. She will be courting in 3 or 4 years, so lack of educational skills won't matter too much. This is just so sad. -
I'm proud of Tim for showing interest and actually going to museums and other places of interest, and asking for other suggestions. And I am quite sure that he and Heidi won't be writing on walls or climbing buildings. I am also quite sure that they are going to these places during viewing times, and not after hours. This is a whole new world for Tim, and I'm happy he is participating and showing enjoyment. There is hope for him yet.

I get the kids confused. Was Gabe the one who did not want to move because he was going to be in a leadership position at school? Football captain, or something like that. Whoever it was, he desperately wanted to stay at his LV high school for this last year, and Janelle finally gave in to Kody because she wanted "the right to raise her son". I remember he was extremely upset, and I felt so bad for him. He had the option to live with a married sibling (Aspyn??), and they would not let him stay. These kids really have had a hard live that was caused by their parents.

I think it is really great that her severely injured shoulder and knee were not an issue on her trip. I wonder when the injuries will be brought up again. They seem to come and go as needed. One of my friends that I'm cruising with has to have a total shoulder replacement when we get back. Now THAT is a severely injured shoulder. Do we even know how Jill's "severely" injured shoulder happened?

I was at a friend's house today, and her KitchenAide, which is the same age as my Whirlpool, is starting to have shreded gaskets, too. There must be something going on with Whirlpool. Ours are both double door bottom freezer models. Maybe that makes a difference.
-
Speaking of refrigerators, has anyone besides me had to replace door gaskets on a newer refrigerator? I have had Whirlpool/KitchenAide appliances for years. I bought a new Whirlpool refrigerator 3 years ago and had to replace the door gaskets last year. I noticed last week that they are starting to shred again. Am I just unlucky, or is this a known problem.

I agree--"Josh and Anna" is fine.

How about "Josh and Anna--there is nothing fun about them" (I'm joking)

I hope this was just a typo. Two kids born a week and a half apart would be unique.- 918 replies

I wonder if Dave and Jill would be allowed to pass out their smilies to people on the sidewalk. Since the ones that are handed out pertain to specific establishments, I would doubt it. But I can see Jill trying. What time of year is the Plexus meeting? If it is in the summer they will almost have to stay inside out of the heat. They would have to hang around inside with all the gambling, and there is really no place to avoid the action. Even to get to the meeting rooms in the hotels you have to walk through the gamblers and drinkers. And I doubt they would appreciate the shows. Maybe she will be happy with qualifying and not attending this one. Las Vegas really is a different type of atmosphere.

I would bet that DW is his spiritual advisor. Maybe Joe is in training since Anna's family has a history of prison ministry. David being there does not surprise me at all. He and Josh appeared to be good friends in the past.

I really like my sheets from the Sleep Number store. They have held up very well, wash well, and are very soft. They have elastic all around, plus additional elastic straps on the corners, so they stay in place very well.

I Just came back from having my taxes done by AARP. In case you are unaware, AARP offers free tax preparation for seniors (I think you have to 50 or 55, I don't remember). You take your tax info and they prepare your taxes while you wait. It is sponsored by AARP, but you do not have to be an AARP member. Your taxes are double checked and they give you the form for your payment or refund. There is a website--AARP Tax services, or something like that, that has locations by state, and then by town. Here they start taking reservations mid January and start tax preps mid February. It is appointment only, and the site has the phone number to call. They have a few restrictions that they will tell you about when you make your appointment. The slots do fill fast, so you have to make a reservation early. I know a lot of people don't know about this service, and I hope it helps someone to get ready for next tax season. There was a lady there this morning that is almost blind, and they were very helpful and kind to her.

Our blizzard has finally past, and it is sunny today. Sunny but very cold. I live at altitude, so it is a very dry cold. I'm going to find out soon how the same temps feel at sea level----on a ship in the North Sea. I'm guessing it will feel much colder. I'm finding it is much, much harder to pack for a vacation in very a cold climate as opposed to a beach vacation. You don't need to figure out how to pack snow boots and a big jacket to go to the beach.

The Other Duggars: The Lost Girls and Amy

This plus his fascination with throwing knives and annoying the cat makes me very worried. -
Thank you. I was hoping someone would know how to do this. At least we know have some documentation that we are willing to try.

I really have no idea. I had never heard of the site until yesterday. I would hope the posts are readable at any time, like this site. But you have a good point, and we need to find out more.
