Reading all these books has done nothing for Teacher Jill's grammar skills. The book Sofia is reading is certainly Kindergarten level. At least she is getting some attention and learning to read at least basic words.

I hope those are battery candles. But there is a good chance they are real.

Is the baby cage still around?

That's a good question. I am very surprised by the main stream, liturgical churches that use McArthur's materials for Bible study classes. Most people have no idea of his background or actual teachings in his daily life.

It depends on your type of allergy. Many people cannot tolerate gluten in the air. I avoid the bread aisle at the grocery store because the gluten in the air affects my breathing. I avoid products that contain gluten. FYI to anyone who eats gluten-free. McDonalds changed their recipe for french fries a couple of years ago. Their fries are now coated in a gluten-containing seasoning that makes them crispier. I found out the hard way the last time I went to McDonalds. I ended up in the Urgent Care needing an albuterol treatment.

That poor baby is terrified.

Just had to get one misplaced comma in. Jill must read here. Only two commas in the whole post. The sentences are shorter, too. Jill must have taken a lot of care when she wrote this one.

My allergist recommends whisky for a cough. Seriously. Whisky and water. Too bad I don't like whisky. For congestion, I do pour some vodka in a mug of boiling water and breath the steam. That really works. I learned that trick from the Respiratory Therapists at the hospital. They carry vodka on their treatment carts.

Giddy can't understand anything that is said to him yet (maybe stay on the blanket), but just being held and hearing his father's voice is really stimulating his brain. We had moms in the hospital who would read magazines, adult level books and the hospital menu to their newborns. I am hopeful that the reading material will get more child-appropriate as he gets older. But then again, these "parents" do not know anything about child development except blanket training. But this does make a good picture for a post.

I think it is sad that these wives keep posting about what great daddies their husbands are. It seems that reading to their child, or providing for their family is not usual behavior for dads. It is really unusual for a Fundy dad to pay attention to his kids? It seems to me that that should be part of the job.

I was going to suggest that Kaylee have someone proof her posts before she hits the "send" button, but then I realize that, being the oldest, she probably received the "best" education in the family. And her "teacher" can not help her out. And she is going to teach her children. This hurts my heart.

Being able to carve is a useful skill. One of my great-great-grandfathers was captured in his first battle in the Civil War. He was sent to Andersonville Prison. We have the spoon he carved while he was there. At least he could eat the little that he was fed. I guess having some skills is important.

Did they have any inspections on this "remodel"? If so, how did this bathroom pass? I would be very surprised if they used GFR plugs. They are more expensive than regular plugs. It appears that child safety is not high on their list.

A kid having his own knife used to be common. When my Dad was a kid, everyone had a knife at school, and they would whittle or play games (Mumbly Peg?) at recess. A knife was a requirement to go to Girl Scout camp when I was a kid. We all had knives. Now kids get suspended from school if they have a pocket knife. We were taught responsibility and the proper use of our knives, but I never, ever heard of some kid hurting anyone--or themselves, for that matter. Times have really changed. I taught with a man who, when he was a boy, would bring his rifle to school every day. It sat in the coat closet during school hours, and then he would hunt rabbits on his way home. I hope Spurge and Henry enjoy learning to use their knives for good purposes and that they get some good instruction on how to use them appropriately. From the little supervision the Howlers had growing up, I'm guessing everyone in that family had knives, too.

OK. What's happened to the site now. I can only get any forum on half the screen. It is unreadable.

I don't know. JB is in a unique situation, having 19 children and insisting that he is in charge of the money. Having "children" over 18 blindly sign contracts when they don't know what they are signing sounds fishy to me. This seems like it is more than just "loopholes". This will be interesting.

I have a large bathroom, and I have a wooden chair in it, but it is not for sitting (or reading or breathing). It is for holding clothes while I am in the shower. And I have plenty of room for it. And I certainly don't have Dollar Store baskets all over. She must have hit a 50 cents sale and stocked up. I really don't understand. That bathroom is pretty useless.

I'm still trying to process all the commas. "When in doubt leave it out" is a rule that they should have been taught. A missing comma is much less egregious than 10 unnecessary commas just thrown into a paragraph.

I really am curious where Kaylee, and Teacher Jill for that matter, learned about commas. Where did they get the idea that they need to use them like salt? Did they just skip the punctuation chapter? Punctuation seems to be a problem for many people. I once complained to the manage in a department store for their big PETITES' sign and pointed out the useless and incorrect apostrophe. The sign was correct after they remodeled. How is anyone who reads their posts taking them seriously as business people?

The misuse of commas gives me a headache. Not ever using a comma would be so much better.

I think when the Duggars were in England JB pointed out a castle and told the kids that that is where King James wrote the KJV. I think a lot of people believe he wrote it all by himself. It kind of goes with him telling his kids that people used to ride dinosaurs. These kids have such an odd "education".

Or that he did not sit down and write it all by himself?
