  1. So how do you feel about the North Pole scenes in Elf, because Peter Billingsley is actually in those.
  2. Of course the old get revenge on a guy 12 years after he dies for something he would have had no awareness of by being mean to his son, who also has no idea why. 😁
  3. I think I am fully on Judd's side on this one. He knew way more about the situation and generally knows way more about the behaviour of fires than Tommy does. When he gave the order if someone else had gone in to try and save her, her actions would be putting them at risk too. As for Tommy she had no plan and no actual way of getting the guy out of the machine. Plus she had no tools or even her personal protective equipment (like the mask and stuff). So if Judd had said she could have stayed what would she have done? Then after at the station, he went to her and said that he had the report he had to fill out and basically asked what she wanted him to write. She probably could have said just write I came out as soon as possible and he probably would have. But giving her a heads up before he writes what actually happened seemed pretty fair. Especially since it wouldn't surprise me to know that all radio talk is recorded somewhere.
  4. That makes a bit more sense. I watched the opening again and the first time I watched it, it sounded like granny said that he was killed and he was a rebel. Which I thought sort of explained why they didn't have much money and why he was kind of an outsider at school. But watching that part again I see she says he was killed and it was a rebel. But at the end isn't Highbottom's whole self loathing speech about how he hates Snow senior for making the hunger games happen and how he got his revenge on him for all the bloodshed. But if daddy snow died 3 years before it happened how is he responsible (for that matter when did he come up with the idea if they were at war)? And if revenge was killing him, what exactly was the revenge for?

    Disney Films

The interesting part of that article is how it talks about how Mickey is still a trademark of Disney (which will never expire). So I imagine a lot of lawyers will make a lot of money over the next few years as Disney files lawsuits and things get figured out over what is and what isn't a trademark violation. Especially since for the last few years Steamboat Willie steering the boat has been used as kind of the logo at the start of Disney animated movies.
  6. I watched the new movie today with my daughter because she loves The Hunger Games. It was pretty good and I appreciate that they didn't try to draw it out into two movies just to make more cash. But one part about the end didn't really make sense to me. At the very end Peter Dinklage says that he and Snow's dad came up with the hunger games as a crazy drunken idea. But Snow senior kind of ran with it and took steps to make it happen. And Dinklage was so horrified that he set Snow senior up as a rebel traitor as revenge for all the bloodshed he caused. But the very first scene of the movie takes place 3 years before the first games and that's where Snow and his cousin and grandma find out that dad was a rebel. But why did Dinklage set him up as revenge for all the bloodshed he caused when it was still 3 years before the games would even happen at that point?
  7. I feel like the only risk with a quick firing would have been public opinion backlash. But that I think would have only happer if Majors was a beloved actor among MCU fans and there was some big evidence reveal at trial proving without a doubt that he did none of the things he was accused of. But it doesn't seem there was that kind of evidence and people don't seem to really love Majors/Kang. And even if it was a totally inconclusive he said/she said Marvel could probably fire him just for making them look bad by association.
  8. That was definitely one of those annoying things where the teaching hospital part of County General was simultaneously a prestigious top tier program while at the same time a terrible program that was stuck taking people like Morris and Malucci and Chen when she came back.
  9. I guess that might be a concern, if you are an actor who might get arrested and then convicted for domestic violence. Otherwise I think most actors probably won't be too wary.
  10. Interesting, I wonder if they will recast Kang/Immortus/He who remains or if they will just rework the overall storyline to write Kang out. It would be hilarious if the next time Kang shows up in a movie he is instantly killed and the camera pans over to reveal it was Vicor von Doom that killed him. Even better if he sets up some time travel blocking technology.
  11. Most of the plot holes I see online are usually things that the movie explains. But yea Kate not waking up is kind of weak. As for everyone else, most of the other people in that house seem like either jerks or the kind of people who would be overly reliant on her. So if they wake up at 6, I bet a lot of them would just think that if they haven't been woken up they don't need to wake up. That would be some combination of luck and playing the odds. Kevin guessed right that Harry and Marv would come to the back door first like Marv did when he scared him off with the movie the day before. He used the pellet gun to get them away from that door and then guessed they would probably try going through another door (either the front or the basement) before trying windows. Well we know the front entrance area was immaculate. All that would mean was cleaning up the micro machines and the pipe, taking the heat thing off the door handle and throwing some salt down on the steps. The only other really time consuming things to clean up would be the feathers, the zip line and the tar (that would be the big one). As for the cops, the wet bandits were arrested at a neighbor's house, and they basically admitted to being the wet bandits when they were arrested. Not sure how many cops would still be there the next morning.
  12. I am kind of surprised that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has any relevance any more. Like with the number of people who have called out how crappy the selection process is including Steve Miller in his induction speech, and then the whole thing with Jann Wenner's comments about his book I am surprised that anyone even cares about it (either fans or artists). But all most people ever care about is if an artist getting in is Rock and Roll or not. It also seems like the Golden Globe awards got way more shit directed at them for being not quite as crappy. So how does the RRHoF keep going?
  13. Most celebrity deaths don't really hit me but Andre Braugher totally did. This past year I rewatched Brooklyn 99 and my kids watched it for the first time. They loved Holt and Cheddar. I also watched all of Homicide sometime around 2005 on DVD, he is an amazing actor. It's also crazy that Braugher and Richard Belzer died the same year. I hope Giancarlo Esposito is taking care of himself.
  14. Now that I think about it I have actually flown on private planes/helicopters as part of my job. But it was to get tona super remote location where the only other option would have been riding on the cargo ship that takes weeks to get there. But even those were cramped and not very comfy. Not some kind of plush Logan Roy style plane where you can get up and walk around with recliner seats and wifi. I also feel like I have seen at least one spy show (Alias or maybe Homeland) where spies are using private jets. Which maybe seems even dumber. Since a great way to draw attention to yourself is when one beautiful white woman gets off a private jet at an airport by herself in some country where she would probably look out of place.
  15. I have never watched Criminal Minds but I definitely feel like I have seen at least one Law Enforcement show where they use private jets. Maybe Bones? That makes sense. Owning the plane is one thing, but having it ready to whenever you want would mean having a whole staff of pilots and in-flight crew on call so that people are always rested and ready whenever you need them. It would also mean all maintenance would be rushed so that the owner is never wait on that kind of stuff. And I would have to imagine that kind of service is like next level expensive.
  16. One thing I have noticed recently is how readily available private jets are for tv people. I was watching Watchmen on DVD last week and 2 FBI agents were flying from Washington to Oklahoma and they were on a US government private jet. I get that from a production standpoint it's probably cheaper since your set can be smaller and you don't need extras. And you can be all dramatic and have face to face conversations. But at the same time is there any reason these people wouldn't fly commercial? I have a family member who used to work for the premier of a Canadian province (basically the equivalent of a governor) and when they were travelling with the premier they almost always flew commercial. The only time they were allowed to take a private plane if the group travelling with the premier was big enough where they coul make a business case that it was more effective to charter one than to book a bunch of full fare refundable business class tickets. And yet I see it on tv all the time, and other than maybe on Succession it doesn't really make sense.
  17. What is really weird was that Carter seemed to use Benton as his role model when it comes to teaching (hard ass figure it out yourself, no praise) when he could have copied more of a Mark or Susan style (which he had been exposed to). The Benton style only worked because Carter was an exceptionally good student who would work hard and figure things out himself, but it also may have contributed to another student killing himself. Lucy seemed like a much more average student (at least for the hands on part of med school training, she could have been really good at the classroom part I can't remember).
  18. Yea you could just say that his magnetic powers slowed down the aging process. Or just not use Magneto as a way to be kind of separate from the original X-men movies. Like how we had 2 MCU Spider man movies before the Green Goblin showed up and even then he was from another timeline.
  19. Yea why would he want to. Thanks to the Marvel movies he has made more money than he could ever hope to spend in 10 lifetimes. Plus he's 58 so why the hell would he want to spend 2+ years shooting and promoting a movie, when the one thing the giant truck load of money he could earn from coming back won't give you is more time with you family and other loved ones.
  20. The only thing I remember about that dumb storyline was how the writers couldn't seem to make up their mind if Dark Willow was something where it was a dependency thing combined with emotional distress where she did hold some kind of responsibility for her actions or if she was possessed and the murders and everything were completely not her fault.
  21. I think that multiverse stories are a lot like time travel stories (or it was all a dream stories) in that they are incredibly hard to do well and most of the time are just sort of a crutch to let writers tell whatever kind of crazy crap story they can think of without having to worry if it makes sense or not. Marvel barely got away with doing a time travel story so I am not sure why they are going so all in with the multiverse story right after that. I watched Loki season 2 and if it wasn't for the strong performances it would have been really bad since all the multiverse/timeline stuff seemed like nonsense.
  22. Why is she even talking about it. I hadn't even thought of that stupid scandal in years and unless someone reminded me I probably would have forgotten she was involved. Plus if you are someone who has all the advantages in the world (tutors, test prep, money for fancy trips, no real restrictions on extra curricular stuff) and you still can't get into the school of your choice there is probably a good reason for it.
  23. I am not an LGBT person so I could be way off here but I feel like her statement is dumber. Because you probably could learn some medical stuff by playing a doctor on TV. But I don't think you can learn what life is like for an actual gay person by making out with Reese Witherspoon on a secured set surrounds by other actors and people who fully understand you are pretending.
  24. That alone is pretty dumb, like Jenna from 30 Rock level actor stupidity. Does she also think she can represent people in court because she once played a lawyer? Because saying that would have been less stupid.
  25. A long term storyline where it shows how Morris is better at hands on learning than classroom learning and slowly picks up things and is influenced by a variety of senior docs (Susan, Carter, Weaver and Luka) or even the nursing staff, The kind of thing where you can see their influences, would have been a great way to handle his character. Because I can totally buy that there are doctors who just learn a ton in their residency and become way better doctors. Unfortunately he got a bunch of stupid comic relief storylines so that a bunch of other characters could have sex with each other and we could get a bunch of other soap opera storylines.
