  1. Most of my knowledge of US immigration laws comes from TV (either fiction or nonfiction shows) but my understanding is that if you are on a work visa it's tied to your job. So even if somehow UK citizen Neela could get a residency spot and a work visa it would be tied to her being a doctor I think. So she couldn't quit being a doctor like she did and just live on Abby's couch without getting deported could she? Is that why they had her marry Gallant to get around those issues?
  2. I can't remember, did they ever give much backstory as to why Neela didn't study medicine in the UK? From what I remember her parents weren't super rich, so I have to imagine that UK med school tuition would have to be cheaper than tuition for an international student in Chicago. Plus they never really explained the whole immigration status thing. Like med school I guess she had a student visa? Then work visa to be a resident. But my understanding is that work visas are typically tied to a specific job, so when she left her residency wouldn't she have to go home, rather than being able to work at a convenience store?
  3. I could be mistaken but I suspect that Seth doesn't know what clip will be used. Just based on his reaction some of the times. It is a really smart way to repackage all the crappy unusable jokes into a really funny bit.
  4. With Stamos it honestly seemed like they wanted their own version of Patrick Dempsey. Oh I also forgot Rob Lowe as an option for that type of actor, but at that point he was coming off West Wing I think and it seems like he took a bunch of failed shows where he was the star. No way he was going to join another show where he was part of an ensemble. Not until a few years later when all his shows failed and he joined Parks and Rec. They also missed the boat with Busy Phillips. I can't believe how little they gave her to do. I saw a quote from her where she basically said she would have stayed on if they made her a regular cast member. But they kept her as like a reoccurring role so she walked. Probably for the best though sinc if she stayed on ER she might not have gotten Cougar Town (last season of ER ended April 2009 and CT started that September) and for awhile that was my favorite show.
  5. That was the weirdest thing for me. If you are able to wield the stones why not use them to dust strange? She is a soldier so killing someone super powered trying to kill you shouldn't be a big deal. Overall I think What If works better as crazy one off stories. The continuing storyline didn't really work for me, plus it was really hard for me to remember what went down last season.
  6. Stamos might not be my most hated character addition but he is easily in the top 5. His joining the show just seemed like they wanted a dark haired 80's heartthrob type of actor to have a bunch of inappropriate sex (wonder where they got that idea). Tom Cruise would never do it, Robert Downey Jr was on the verge of rebuilding his career (Zodiac started filming in 2005 the same year Gates first appeared), and even Charlie Sheen was already on two and a half men at that point so who else was left? Judd Nelson?
  7. It was cool hearing Cate Blanchett as Hela but I didn't really care for that one. I didn't really buy that Hela would turn good. Once she got her crown back I was totally expecting her to be like "nope" and quickly kill Odin. Plus there were a lot of weird little things. Like if Odin could strip Hela of her powers and enchant her crown why didn't he do that in the main timeline to prevent her from coming back? And in the big fight at the end, if Hela was essential mortal, shouldn't a punch to the face from Odin done a ton of damage? Also if she says that Frigga is Odin's girlfriend then who is Hela's mom?
  8. It was cool that almost the whole thing was subtitled, and subtitled in two different languages no less. It reminded me of when I watched Shang Chi and seeing how much of that movie was subtitled and thinking how far Marvel had come that they can basically do whatever they want. Because looking back to phase one, Captain America First Avenger had Nazis talking to each other in private and that movie has them speaking English.
  9. There was some really impressive animation in this one. Peggy fighting Steve on the water tower and Natasha fighting the widows in the shot up room like a silhouette both looked really cool.
  10. I am not sure about that. In between What If season one and this I watched all of Harley Quinn and Lake Bell's Natasha voice doesn't sound very different from her Poison Ivy voice. I guess on the bright side she can maybe say that this was her final MCU project rather than that piece of crap Secret Invasion. The Hulk Hogan thing is extra funny, since when the Hulkster first became famous he was introduced as The Incredible Hulk Hogan. And because of that The WWF had to license the name Hulk from Marvel comics for many years. As for Werner, about 95% of what I know about Werner Herzog comes from Seth Meyers doing impressions of him on Late Night so that was pretty funny.
  11. Are there places where you can just get prime video? I live in Canada and you can get an Amazon Prime membership which comes with video, the basic music streaming, free shipping and photo storage. It's $99 per year. You can't just sign up for the video only membership. In Canada you can sign up for Amazon music unlimited which is actually cheaper if you are a prime member.
  12. If they are trying to make money off the membership/subscription price itself (rather than using it to get people to buy stuff) then I am surprised they didn't make like an ad supported subscription for just Prime video. Then make it so for a bit more you can get full prime with all the benefits and no ads. Because it is all just disposable income. So if I were to spend money on the ad free version odds are I would just buy less stuff from Amazon. Right now I won't be paying. I don't watch too many amazon originals. And if I wanted to watch a classic movie or something I might just check to see if Tubi has it out of spite.
  13. If I remember that storyline Susan was pissed off that Carter took her spot. But the dude made a big enough donation to design and build a huge new hospital building. I imagine even if there weren't any open tenure positions available they would make one for a millionaire doctor who donates that much cash.
  14. It was weird, I liked in the earlier seasons how when they did the outside of county episodes they found different places to go. Some worked and some didn't. Then once they started going to Africa that is all they did and they got super repetitive.
  15. Especially Disney money for under an hour of work that requires no make-up or costume prep or anything like that. Her Nebula voice totally works for that kind of story.
  16. The weird thing about prime doing ads is that it is supposed to be a different business model than all th other streaming services. Like Netflix needs to make money off its subscriptions to pay their expenses and make a profit. But with Amazon, the whole point of it is to get people to sign up for Prime so they will buy more stuff from Amazon (I read something once that the average prime member spends like 4 times as much at amazon.com as the average non-prime member). So all the benefits are supposed to drive that. As for Prime video I would just have a better recommendation system. I don't need you to recommend The Terminator or The Big Lebowski to me since I already told you I like those movies.
  17. The weirdest part is parents who don't believe in Santa (when he is actually real). So where did you think those extra presents you didn't buy came from?
  18. Man that ending was dumb. I am usually ok with some open ended stuff for a season finale when a show is getting renewed but this seemed like a lot. Carlos still has no idea who murdered his dad, and Judd didn't come to any kind of better realization about what to do about his son. Even though being at his house was clearly a terrible idea. The funeral also really bugged me. You would think that the funeral for a highly decorated Texas Ranger would be a huge thing. When the guy presented the flag on behalf of the governor, I was like "where the hell is the governor?".
  19. So how do you feel about the North Pole scenes in Elf, because Peter Billingsley is actually in those.
  20. Of course the old get revenge on a guy 12 years after he dies for something he would have had no awareness of by being mean to his son, who also has no idea why. 😁
  21. I think I am fully on Judd's side on this one. He knew way more about the situation and generally knows way more about the behaviour of fires than Tommy does. When he gave the order if someone else had gone in to try and save her, her actions would be putting them at risk too. As for Tommy she had no plan and no actual way of getting the guy out of the machine. Plus she had no tools or even her personal protective equipment (like the mask and stuff). So if Judd had said she could have stayed what would she have done? Then after at the station, he went to her and said that he had the report he had to fill out and basically asked what she wanted him to write. She probably could have said just write I came out as soon as possible and he probably would have. But giving her a heads up before he writes what actually happened seemed pretty fair. Especially since it wouldn't surprise me to know that all radio talk is recorded somewhere.
  22. That makes a bit more sense. I watched the opening again and the first time I watched it, it sounded like granny said that he was killed and he was a rebel. Which I thought sort of explained why they didn't have much money and why he was kind of an outsider at school. But watching that part again I see she says he was killed and it was a rebel. But at the end isn't Highbottom's whole self loathing speech about how he hates Snow senior for making the hunger games happen and how he got his revenge on him for all the bloodshed. But if daddy snow died 3 years before it happened how is he responsible (for that matter when did he come up with the idea if they were at war)? And if revenge was killing him, what exactly was the revenge for?

    Disney Films

The interesting part of that article is how it talks about how Mickey is still a trademark of Disney (which will never expire). So I imagine a lot of lawyers will make a lot of money over the next few years as Disney files lawsuits and things get figured out over what is and what isn't a trademark violation. Especially since for the last few years Steamboat Willie steering the boat has been used as kind of the logo at the start of Disney animated movies.
  24. I watched the new movie today with my daughter because she loves The Hunger Games. It was pretty good and I appreciate that they didn't try to draw it out into two movies just to make more cash. But one part about the end didn't really make sense to me. At the very end Peter Dinklage says that he and Snow's dad came up with the hunger games as a crazy drunken idea. But Snow senior kind of ran with it and took steps to make it happen. And Dinklage was so horrified that he set Snow senior up as a rebel traitor as revenge for all the bloodshed he caused. But the very first scene of the movie takes place 3 years before the first games and that's where Snow and his cousin and grandma find out that dad was a rebel. But why did Dinklage set him up as revenge for all the bloodshed he caused when it was still 3 years before the games would even happen at that point?
  25. I feel like the only risk with a quick firing would have been public opinion backlash. But that I think would have only happer if Majors was a beloved actor among MCU fans and there was some big evidence reveal at trial proving without a doubt that he did none of the things he was accused of. But it doesn't seem there was that kind of evidence and people don't seem to really love Majors/Kang. And even if it was a totally inconclusive he said/she said Marvel could probably fire him just for making them look bad by association.
