  1. From the biggest March and all-time best WB opening weekend (until the actual numbers, when it finished below Deathly Hallows - Part 2) to being lucky if it will end up outgrossing the R-rated, 2D Deadpool...quite the tailspin for Batman vs. Superman, in a week's time.
  2. Why not red and, IDK, slate, steel, or anything but porpoise? "Ruby & Porpoise" sounds like the title of a children's book.
  3. Didn't some fans of The Good Wife speculate that the business with Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi not filming scenes together for years might have partly been due to Julianna's...feelings about the Alicia/Kalinda shippers in the fandom? Not sure if there's any basis in reality, didn't really watch the show, but practically all of the theories about that drama made Julianna look bad. And I would say actors/writers who try to torpedo non-canon ships that just have an online fandom are worse, because they can actually have a negative impact on the story itself, far more so than a ship with a limited real world following or real-person shipping.
  4. Ah, the SS Terry....the last time I went down that rabbit hole on Tumblr, Tony was still the father of Kerry's child, not her husband, with the marriage being a part of the cover story. Genetics are a funny thing, but you'd think she'd have gone in a...how shall we say, different direction than the husband she picked, for a "pretend" baby daddy... I think co-stars having a real-life romance that spans the duration of filming is not a lot different than tweens/teens falling madly in love at summer camp, regardless of the attachments going on at home. They always say that Hollywood is just high school with money. One person's speculation is another person's over-invested shipping... I've been in different fandoms and the "obsessed" label can get applied very liberally among the different factions. Even so, I don't get the need to make the boyfriend/spouse out to be the devil or some frump in order for the twu wuv of the marriage-breaking real-person ship to be real, but it seems some fans need that level of justification. Much easier to ship star-crossed lovers than heartless cheaters, I guess. I don't mind a degree of real-person shipping in the "They'd be so glamorous and witty!" or "Imagine how cute kids of theirs would be" sense, a passing thing you give a minute or two of thought before moving on with your life. OTOH, the internet helps the more...dedicated of fans fuel their..intensity in a way that's not the most rational. Family/friends of stars can have it rough because they didn't sign on for the spotlight, but get dragged into it anyway. Even before the days of social media I wouldn't have recommended the wife/brother/cousin of some star reading the uncensored fanmail, which is kind of what you get on Twitter, Instagram, etc. Keri Russell also dated Tony Lucca from her Mickey Mouse Club days, so that's at least three co-stars but in 20+ years in the business, spanning most of her adolescence and adulthood so far, I don't think that's a lot.
  5. Chris Darden was interviewed by Entertainment Tonight; they've posted the clips that aired on TV:

  7. Kristen called Rob "the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most" in that desperate, embarrassing public apology she issued after getting caught in a "momentary indiscretion" with the director from Snow White and the Huntsman. My original post was more about how some anti-shippers out there are quick to label the real-person shippers not only 100% wrong, but also crazy and unable to distinguish fiction from reality. And I do think that analyzing every look co-stars exchange in an interview as a sign of their undying love on your ~secret shipper forum~ is excessive, that the people who bug actors about it on Twitter need to stop, and the Robsten shippers who think they're secretly married with children really need to let it go. Sometimes, on-set relationship rumors are played up for publicity, but sometimes actors in a project together end up going out, because co-workers have been known to date each other, in many walks of life. Sometimes co-stars end up being romantically involved, even if they were in other relationships first. With the leads on The Americans, I remember some fans speculating about their chemistry spilling into real life, but others would say no, it's fine to enjoy their acting on the show, but Keri Russell is married! Except now, she's not, and she and Matthew Rhys are having a baby together.
  8. Enjoyed the Beverly Cleary segment yesterday:
  9. On what would have been Robert's birthday this year, various Kardashian/Jenner offspring posted pics of him on social media. Among them was a photo of Robert Kardashian holding Kendall and Kylie as little girls. Judging by the age of Kylie it's probably no later than 1998. By then he'd had a broken engagement (his trial commitments put a strain on the relationship) and married again (and was married another time, shortly before his death). Now, I have my doubts that Robert ever told Kris that he thought OJ was guilty, but I don't have a problem believing they could hug it out, post-divorce. OJ and Nicole were friends of theirs, she was viciously murdered and he stood accused: it's an emotional situation. I mean, it's not like the show showed Robert and Kris having sex or even kissing...they just hugged. That part of it didn't strain any credibility for me.
  10. By the end of the last episode, the Fuhrman tapes had been uncovered. He was brought back on the stand months after Fung's testimony, and I thought one of the jurors in a scene mentioned being sequestered 7-8 months, so I was thinking the episode covered a significant amount of time.
  11. What's the timeline for this episode? When the verdict was announced (October 1995), Kris was very pregnant and given the superfluous Kar-dash-i-an Kid references in earlier episodes, I thought for sure that when we got closer to the end, there'd be all but a glowing arrow pointing to Kendall Nicole Jenner in utero.

Wasn't Michigan State supposedly robbed of a 1-seed? Oops.
  14. Reagan's never going to make the list of presidents with the highest IQs but he was a divorced father of two by the time he started dating Nancy. I think he was smart enough to realize where babies came from and what often happened in 1950s if an unmarried couple found themselves expecting a bundle of joy. Also, if he were a good enough actor to fake being moonily in love with her for decades (despite how she "trapped" him), with photos, videos, accounts from colleagues and friends backing up the version of history where they were utterly besotted, with even their kids spending decades resenting how wrapped up their parents were in each other...well, I think he'd have won more Oscars than Daniel Day-Lewis and not bothered with politics at all. The Reagans are the first First Couple I can remember. You really feel the passage of time, to see figures who were a perpetual part of the news in your childhood, slip away in old age. I remember when I realized that Reagan had been an actor once and they'd made a movie together. IDK, it just seemed wrong to me, like an extreme version of when you're a kid and see your teacher at the mall on the weekend.

My wild guess is that LaRoche figures the girl is supposed to learn her life lessons at home with Mom? Maybe this guy's new gig can be as the spokesperson for attachment parenting.
  16. Of course he does. I guess it will make more money than the Atlas Shrugged trilogy.
  17. Diana wasn't a royal and previous next-in-lines traditionally married other royals: Elizabeth (though Prince Philip renounced his titles before marrying her), Edwardian Edward, Victoria (she was already queen when she married but the same concept), her father, grandfather, and so on. The Queen Mother was "merely" an earl's daughter but Bertie (George VI) wasn't the heir apparent when they married, and it was considered kind of progressive for the time that he was allowed to date/marry a non-royal, even if she did have a title. Would've been interesting to see Carson the mega snob weigh in on the royal wedding of the day (the future Queen sported a dress/veil very much of the era) but I think it happened between seasons.
  18. People Stylewatch interviewed the show's stylist about the final rose dresses and wrote a couple of articles (yes, the show provides them now): The Bachelor Finale: The Surprising Reason Each Contestant Keeps Her Dress and 9 Other Style Secrets From the Show The Dresses Rejected from The Bachelor Finale, Plus 5 More Style Facts From the Big Night (with pics of the alternates)

Wasn't he dating a 17-year-old girl at some point when he was with the Jets? Legal in NY but still frowned upon in many corners. If that's what he likes, better for his image that he stay single.
  20. The pressure for an AFTR wedding was sort of awkward and gross, but I guess you could apply those terms to the whole premise of the show, yet here we are, so... Still, how would it be legal if it were truly a surprise? Unless they just went through with the ceremony and got the license later... I remember Brad pushing for an insta-marriage to Emily but she was still stewing about his closeness to the runner up that season. Eventually, Fleiss and Chris Harrison will probably make it happen.
  21. The Shakira song was "Whenever, Wherever". Ariana's impression seems pretty good to me!
  22. Spectre has been available to stream since January, on DVD/Blu Ray for nearly three weeks, yet this weekend it somehow had a per theater average six times higher than last weekend, and also higher than that of half the movies in the Top 10? Maybe Sony thought that if the movie still missed the $200M mark this weekend, the curious accounting wouldn't stand out too much. The Brothers Grimsby is still a flop, ten or twenty thousand from its total in either direction won't make a difference in how it's viewed. Yummy, sloppy fudge...
