  1. I think he still went farther than the other guy. ETA: Thanks for letting us know how many people make it past Stage 3, NBC.
  2. Yes, it's turned into a really ugly locale what with all the mud and the snags. And there doesn't seem to be any variation in the individual sites. Everyone has about 10 yards of muddy banks and then the thick woods that no one even wants to walk in. That's what I always think when they make fish soup instead of frying it on Alone, but I guess it's most important to capture every possible calorie and nutrient.
  3. I was wondering that, too, but then later he mentioned it was through his great-grandmother. I think. He could've said great-great-grandmother as I'm having a hellava time with the accents and I don't want to turn on the close-captioning because it overlays the tidbits the show puts in there.
  4. So apparently the safety passes are only good for Stage 1 this year, because - have you heard? - in Stage 2 all the runs are races!
  5. Oh, I miss Carnivale. Cancelled too soon. It really needed a 3rd season to tie up loose ends. One of the few shows where I bought the DVDs. That show was why I got into TWoP. And here I am, 20 (!) years later.
  6. You and me both. Plus, Oliver is far too vain to dismiss losing a tooth out of hand just because he's looking forward to "dessert".
  7. To be clear, from what I've read on Reddit, the actual police report is a year old, but Miss Balls (aka She Who Must Not Be Named) did the video recently, so the whole thing is being churned up again. She must be hurting for content.
  8. You and me both. Seeing her do that in the last ep of season 2 was horrible. Cinda's return was actually the highlight of the episode for me.
  9. With or without Alan Cummings?
  10. Presumably these folks have had the benefit of 9 seasons of the US version, right? Although I can see that the casting people went for a more varied demographic than just hard core, off the grid survivalists.
  11. I've never known them to "go off and have a little chat" where they didn't end up pulling that person. They have to err on the side of safety.
  12. If you haven't done so, I encourage everyone to check out a recent magazine article that's linked to in the media thread. It's a very detailed, in-depth look at the show with a lot of behind the scenes details including the increasing amount of aftercare they now provide to the participants.
  13. So, Mikey's going home to find out he has 4 children not named Nikolai.
  14. I think it was a race strategy if you're just looking to get to Vegas and not compete for fastest finish. As long as they finish an obstacle ahead of their competitor they're winning, so why not catch your breath and give yourself an advantage to get past the next obstacle? I agree it doesn't make for exciting TV. Am I nuts or did they change out the course slightly for the Safety Pass race in the previous 2 semi-finals? How can they change the rules mid-stream like that?
  15. That is an excellent article! It goes quite deep into the show. I did not encounter a paywall.
  16. Season finale. Air date: August 17, 2023 Note: This episode will be followed by an episode of Alone - Australia, which has it's own thread in the Other Competitive Reality Shows forum. Next week, Alone - Australia will take over Alone's time slot, but don't assume your DVR will record it automatically.
  17. "Something you can't forgive" sounds like a sex crime IMO.
  18. Air date: August 10, 2023 NOTE: Going to get it right this time. An episode of Alone - Australia follows this episode. Alone - Australia has it's own thread in the Other Competitive Reality Shows forum.
  19. Yeah, now that this dreadful, boring season is over, I guess it's OK to mention here that Tom Brittany (Will) is leaving. I don't know why they ever cast him, the guy has no chemistry with any of the other actors.
  20. It wouldn't be the first time for TAR. Wasn't there a time in the early years when CBS was f*cking around with their time slot (which, TBH, they've never stopped) and there was more than a year between seasons?
  21. Yup, I blew it. It's next week. I'll fix it up top.
  22. That's why I don't get all the Fadi and T hate. Remember what Curtis said about their pull-apart sticky buns? "You could open a shop and just make this and there would be a line around the block." They're good bakers, penis cake notwithstanding.
  23. Air date: August 3, 2023 NOTE: My Comcast listing shows that immediately after this episode it will be showing Episode 1 of Alone-Australia, which has it's own thread elsewhere in this forum. NOTE 2: The extended edition is next week, August 10th, not this week. My bad.
  24. Yeah, I found myself thinking I like the races but I miss ANW.
