  1. Coming out of long term lurking at this news. Jerry verDorn was one of my big long term crushes. I loved him on Guiding Light. I used to rush home from law school to catch it (in the days before recording). Another part of my youth gone. And he seemed like a genuinely nice person. RIP
  2. If anyone wants to know where they got the idea for the story google “murder of April Kauffman ” near Atlantic City New Jersey. She was a local radio personality who supported veterans causes, married to a local doctor, found shot to death in her home. Her husband was (much later) arrested for her murder along with members of a motorcycle gang with whom he had a pill pushing business. One of the chief differences was that according to people I know who know her, his daughter from his first marriage never had any illusions about her father. He “committed suicide” in jail much like Epstein before his trial. Weird 6 degrees of separation for me watching this.
  3. I'm going to have to try to find this episode (I don't have a DVR) since I grew up in Elizabeth Township, which is just up the hill from Versailles (and yes, it's "Versales"). My Dad lived the last 20 years in N. Versailles, just down from the cemetery. I do like the creepy episodes.
  4. @emma675 so very sorry for your loss. And I second and third and fourth the age related complaints. And the DST peeves. Now that it's 5:20 PM and pitch black outside I'm almost ready to go to bed! And speaking of getting old, would it be too much to ask to watch reruns of the Closer on Start TV without interminable commercials for healthcare and adult diapers? I'm not even Medicare eligible yet! At least it's not political commercials.
  5. It's not totally unrealistic, though, for people to revert to past behavior in certain situations. Being left out is one of Amy's biggest fears; it takes her back to a time when she didn't have any friends. Even though she may know logically that she has friends and a husband who love her, well sometimes we can't help how we react when certain buttons are pushed.
  6. I actually know someone who did this. Her house got infested with bedbugs (thanks to her nephew) and it had to be fumigated. To be fair, the lady is 100 years old and it wasn't safe for her to be around those chemicals so she went to stay with her daughter for a few days. To the best of my knowledge though, no hijinks ensued.
  7. If they ask him to turn the music down, they might end up hearing other things they really don't want to hear!
  8. The thing is Leonard wasn't terribly adamant about it. He said he'd always assumed that he would have kids. That's different than kids being a deal breaker. I did think Amy's reaction was funny. Bernadette and Howard sitting on the couch trying not to listen to Stuart's luuuurve music cracked me up.
  9. I wish the Admiral was right and Hetty had parachuted into Mexico to save them. I like Gerald McCraney but I missed Hetty. I assume since Sam killed the general's son that he's going to be after revenge. I can't think of any other reason to make the random assassin his son.
  10. Seriously they killed off Hidoko? And in a horrible way. That's bogus.
  11. Ooh Leverage. That's one of mine too but it's not usually on when I can watch. Also I can watch Stargate -SGI all day long; and NCIS-LA.
  12. British murder mysteries - Midsomer Murders, Vera, Shetland, etc.
  13. I actually had a professor in law school give us that speech. They also told us at orientation that 25% of the class was admitted by accident and shouldn't be there but wouldn't tell us who. I always assumed I was one of the 25%. lol I only watch this show intermittently but I love all of the actors.
  14. A friend of mine texted me last week to google "twinkle, twinkle little dick". I told her no way in h*** was I putting those words through google on my phone. I want to be able to use my phone again. Turns out there's a smoking is bad for you ad that parodies the song "twinkle twinkle little star" to explain what smoking can do to a man's um performance. (It uses stick figures and is actually pretty clever.) I know this because she showed me on her phone. Now she's complaining about the ads she's getting.
  15. @bilgistic I wish I could help you. All I can do is send as many good thoughts as I can your way and offer you the knowledge that there are people who care. You deserve all good things to come your way.
  16. I was glad they gave the woman on the end (whose name I already forget) their/they're. I don't usually notice the judging but it does seem to be particularly wonky that last few days. The BMSes seem to be.. um random because yeah, I don't know what the difference is between saying "Kennedy" and saying "Ritter".
  17. It's split. 2 years med school then Phd then finishing med. PS, congrats on having two very smart kids! I'm sure they get their smarts from their parents.
  18. The daughter of a friend of mine is one of those programs. Not only is tuition free, the school pays her a stipend. They are very difficult programs to get into and they take very few applicants each year. Smart people. I like the beard.
  19. Seriously, people criticize a kidnap victim, a young girl at the time, for not fighting back? FFS it's real life not a Marvel comic movie. The fact that she came out of it alive and able to function in the world is a testament to her strength.
  20. I loved Burt in Evening Shade. An underrated tv show. RIP
  21. I actually had an elderly friend ask me to take a picture of her sister in her casket. Apparently it was a family tradition. It creeped me the hell out but I did it for her. And deleted the pictures from my phone as soon as I printed them out. What made me feel really bad was that she has no other family and had no other pictures of her sister. Taking pictures in caskets was customary in Victorian times also.
  22. I don't have any feelings one way or another on the cousin thing but I loved the theme to Flambards.
  23. @GHScorpiosRule that is excellent news!!! I'm very happy for you!! They're lucky to have you. (I'm a sole practitioner who wishes I could afford someone with your skill set!!)
