The Nightly Show: Season One Talk

Do you think the lack of panelists has to do with budget issues? The show looks cheaper than @Midnight. -

I don't endorse how that lady spoke to the towing company employee, but Advanced Towing has a bad habit of taking both illegally and legally parked cars. it's been a story in the DC area even before the reporter's rant went public. People in my area are VERY angry with Advanced Towing and want them stopped. http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Complaints-Against-Advanced-Towing-Continue-to-Pile-Up-300403301.html -
Going Clear: Scientology And The Prison Of Belief

One of the funniest things I've listened to in the last 12 months. I always knew Andrew Daly was funny, but his L Ron is now legend in my mind. -
I should get a patent for a process to enforce patents. Then I could sue all the patent trolls.

The Nightly Show: Season One Talk

Is anyone feeling like this show is somehow experiencing the paradox of trying too hard while not trying hard enough? -
I'm on board. Here are the things I liked: -Humans have mixed feelings about the alien who saved the earth/destroyed a major city (one rarely gets a second chance at a first impression). -Bruce Wayne doesn't look like the kind of guy who would be Batman (the Keaton factor). -People are kneeling before Superman? I want to know more about this. -Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and Charlie fuckin' Rose. What I did not like: - The CG on the statue looked bad. -Too much of a tease.

Loved the trailer. Still skeptical because of the prequels, but I'm keeping hope alive. Oh, and for the person wondering about Wookies aging, they have a lifespan of 200 years.

Check out George Jacob's book "Mr. S". Jacobs was Frank's valet for many years and had some stuff to say (good and bad). Supposedly his junk was so bulky he needed a special contraption to diminish the bulge. Honestly, that book spent WAY too much time describing Frank's schmeckle.

Does anyone know if Veep borrowed the Oval Office set from House Of Cards? Both productions film close to each other (I believe), so it would make sense.

Also, it's a chaos symbol in disguise. -
Season 1 Discussion: The Devil Of Hell's Kitchen

Many times when there'd be a shot of the Manhattan skyline, I would try to catch a glimpse of Stark Tower. I never could. Was anybody more successful than me in this endeavor? -
If I were in charge of the music I would have gone another way, too. Maybe something more appropriate like the prelude to act I of Lohengrin (an opera about a knight who can not reveal his identity).

On The Radar (Sense): The Speculation Thread

I thought that AKA was "Season 2", and any continuation of the Darwdevil story would be in cameos during the next few seasons and the Defenders. [The next remarks are slightly off topic] So, we're getting a new Spider-Man movie. I can't be the only one who feels a series might be a better way to reinvigorate the character instead of ANOTHER movie, can I? Also, Spidey was a Defender, so adding his story arc wouldn't be a stretch. Who's with me? -

I enjoyed this much more than Agents of Shield, but slightly less than Agent Carter. I just hope we get more Daredevil in Jessica Jones. It'd be a waste to not have that character pop up periodically. Also, I loved Wilson Fisk, can't wait for his inevitable return as Kingpin. My big problem: Charlie Cox's American accent. He needs to buckle down like Idris Elba or Dominic West did. If your character is from New York, I should be able to hear New York and not Ireland. -
Going Clear: Scientology And The Prison Of Belief

Over a decade ago I briefly dated a woman who claimed she had recently escaped from Scientology. She had grown up in the church, was a SeaOrg member and simply walked away one day. Honestly, I didn't ask too many questions, but I do know that our walks around SF became rather meandering because of the large COS presence on the street. Lots of venting on her part about how she was afraid of what would happen if she was found. -
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Frank really is Ronan's father. Even Frank's legitimate kids seem to embrace him as a brother.
-
We don't need to lift Frank up by putting down Elvis. I may not be the biggest fan of Presley, but even I know that he was more than just a "Pop Star." It's true that Frank had a lot more discipline, training, and life experience. He could do justice to songs spanning decades effortlessly. He had a style that embraced adulthood instead of clinging to youth. But dismissing Elvis is the wrong path to go down.

Where can I buy a microphone like the one Jimmy uses for Bingo?

The thing that really bugged me was when they mentioned the album "Watertown" like it was a complete failure artistically and commercially. That record is amazing, and to use it as an example of how out of touch he had become ignores the following that work has now.

OK, that was damn good.

Going Clear: Scientology And The Prison Of Belief
revbfc replied to Janet Snakehole's topic in HBO Documentaries
Scientology is just Satanism for folks who like office politics and team building exercises run amok. After seeing the documentary and reading the OT VIII materials I'm even more convinced of this. Does anyone know if Going Clear was much longer at one point? It felt as if a lot was left out. -
Much like how I feel last week's Scientology doc should have been longer and more in depth, this needs to be AT LEAST eight hours to do justice to Sinatra's immense career.

Wow, I really like Kim, and I love her friendship with Jimmy. Hopefully we'll get at least one Kim-centric episode next season, because that character has a lot going on under the surface. Oh, Chuck! How I agree and dislike you in equal measures. We know "Slippin' Jimmy" is still alive and well in your brother. We know that huckster side has helped fuel his greatest legal accomplishments. We also know that Jimmy is a genuine workhorse. He didn't go UAS because it was easy, he went there because they accepted him. He put in the time, he put in the effort, and he passed the bar. Sorry, Chuck, but your brother is a real lawyer, and since UAS is accredited, he went to a real school. No, you don't have to hire him to your firm, but do rejoice in that your brother has taken it upon himself to be his own man. Use all the tough love and reveal all your ugliness if you must, but NEVER takes sides against the family.

Please forgive me if someone has asked this before: What are the chances that Desi is the father?
