They're little kids, Cathy lives closer, and she is an empty nester. I spent very little time at my grandma's, but she was in a different states. Time and relationships spent with grandparents tend to vary wildly between individuals and families so everyone's MMV.

I don't read a lot into Derrick's prolife posts. I've known quite a few people who talk like that. Also I would imagine the subject might come up both in Central America and at home surrounding the issue of zika. Right now when people mention places like Brazil or El Salvador, zika comes up rather fast.

Well, let's see the last time a Duggar was in People was what less than two months ago when Joy got married. She didn't get the cover or the sidebar. Before that it was her engagement. Before that Jessa had a baby. I think that something always going on in this family makes it seem less exciting, like a Soap Opera. A wedding would still get better press, but yet another baby in family with some many of them (and there will be many more Duggar grandkids). Eventually by the time there are 10 or 11 kids married, there will be at least one Duggar born every three months. It adds up to a lot of coverage to what is really seen by the many people as one group or family.

It's not Zika! They took one photo of the baby. The angle and his being hooked to machines would inhibit how much of his head can be seen. If there were a dozen pictures all at the same angle, I might be concerned or I would think it has something to do with not disturbing the tubes and wires. Other than they went to El Salvador, where there are more cases of zika than Arkansas, there is no reason to think zika.

I'm skeptical that zika is really possible given we've seen the baby. If something's wrong, there are many other possibilities. Let's hope everyone is just too tired for pictures and press, etc.

One of my friends just married a guy she met on-line. Both of their profiles mentioned boardgames, which is why she agreed to start chatting online.

Yes that's exactly what I meant. The Caldwells have as many as the Seewalds, and I see a lot of the same dynamics at play. Thanks @Absolom!
-
The forsyths have as many as the Seewalds and both are about the same age with similiar family dynamics imo.

No one here is blaming all NICU moms. Someone I know is one, and I would be upset if that were the case. I'm not sure who is to blame here if anyone. What people are questioning is if more could be done and whether Jill was really taking care of herself.

Rosemary Kennedy, was as far as I know mentally challenged, and not merely depressed.

I agree the landing the cover would be quite a prize. I'm hoping Beyonce decides to share pictures of the twins and they do a big feature on Bey and Jay-Z etc.

Somehow the person who posted that picture made it more grainy than the original post by the family.

We also have to remember that for a long time most versions of Christianity believed they were the "Only true faith". So less than a hundred years ago the Catholic church was saying "we are the only true faith." and other protestants sects probably said the same thing. ( As a Catholic, I'm more familiar with the history of Catholicism. I also still know Catholics who kind of still believe and not all of them are old). Then there's the fact a lot of people think Christianity or Judeo-Christian beliefs are the "only true faith" or some such. They seem to think anything is usually lesser to that. My point being that this stuff is hardly unique to the Duggars or even others in their culture.)

They need a large size. I doubt any Dillard baby could fit into 0-3 months. My mother taught me as always start as 6 months that way if the baby is bigger there is a better chance of fitting and if not, they can grow into it. Our family tends towards 8 pound babies, but Jill's last baby was 10 pounds.

The fireworks were so loud last night! Our neighbors don't care. Yeah the D's don't care, but that's true all over the place and I'm sure of many Christians all over the country. Sometimesy- Depends on the state. However you can get 'em from other states where it's legal. Ex: Massachusetts residents can get their fireworks in nearby states like New Hampshire or Connecticut.

I got FJ which was also a TS. (Category was Classic Children's literature) Seriously shocked! And it was so easy. I thought they would be looking for the author. (It was the way they phrased the question but then the category would women children's literature authors. )

The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah

The treehouse doesn't look like it was built by amateurs or kids. Many treehouses I've seen don't necessarily have four walls, a door, and a roof. That treehouse is more finished, water-resistant and structurally sound than the place Austin is flipping. -

I disagree. If he had born during the TLC years, then that might be true. But a surgery happening to a baby when that child is no longer a baby and is heathly now is hardly something to be milked. Especially when they weren't famous and there was no filming at that point. -

From Wikipedia: She was 37 when she won and had 15 kids. The award was presented to her by then Governor Mike Huckabee. If you go to Wikipedia (to Duggar family page), you can click the article to read more. -
@Sew Sumi thanks for answering my questions both about the Bates in general and Lawson's special salute to the veterans.

I also don't see Gil and Kelly as that different for the Duggars. Are the kids allowed to get jobs in the secular world? Choose from a few different schools? Change religions? Become atheists? Decide they just want to date for a while? Be a member of the LGBTQ community? Etc.?

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
Kurt is a fictional character. The movie children oldest to youngest were Liesl, Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta, Gretl. The real life Von Trapp children oldest to youngest were Rupert, Agatha, Werner, Maria, Hedwig, Johanna, Martina. Then Maria and the captain had three kids of their own Rosemary, Lorelei, and Johannes. I read at least two of Maria's books she wrote with another writer and they were sort of fundy Catholic. That some of the huge family became even more fundamentalist non Catholic is not surprising.
