Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
Temperance replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
Joy is the youngest of the older girls and will probably have the most. I see Jessa with at least 6, but more likely 10 or 12. I can't tell what Jinger is thinking, but she does seem sad or less than thrilled. I wonder if as she's moving into the mainstream, she realises how young Joy is to be tied down like this. Maybe Jinger is enjoying her life and a little sad for her sister. -

I think she was sitting on his lap while TLC was filming and someone watching made a gif of it from the episode. In other words, I'm not sure she posted the gif up there. -
One of my friends just had a baby (she reminds a little of Jill DD), but her mother posted about it like Michelle. It's grandchild #, (not which number for the parents), but which # for all her grandkids. Then she said a few things about how the baby and birth. And she ended with another amazing blessing!!! Sigh.

Actually not exactly. Johannah is the closest younger sister. Jinger is the closest older sister. She's about 4 years younger than Jinger and 8 years older than Johannah. Jessa is actually closer in age at 5 years older. I think she's closer in age to all of her older sisters than her younger ones. No it's a picture of them kissing Jinger on her wedding day. -

I think it's been so ingrained in her by her family, that when you get married you get pregnant, that she can't conceive (pun intended) that anyone could get married and not be pregnant six months in. Especially one of her siblings and especially one of her sisters. -

She always had a fuller figure than her sisters. (no judgement, because I'm a fuller figure myself.) If you look at her father and Josh, there's a tendency to carry weight in the middle (heck most of humanity has this tendency!). It also may be the position of the baby. One of my friends was teen mom and her kids turned out ok and she really worked hard to make a good life for them. I'm sad at the news. She never really had much of a chance to do anything different. She knows very few people who live differently. She has been told her whole life birth control is a sin. She has been told her parents are holier than others, because of their large family. Her older buddy Jill believes everything their parents told them. She told us herself the courtship was up to Austin and her dad. I don't see anything to envy here, but I'm sure some of their young fans want to be just like her. -

She was married exactly three months ago. I think they all show early. -

Well then maybe they don't have a party. How can they pick up states even if they don't attract new voters? She was dismissive about economics. She was too negative. She wasn't spot-on. But if she's right, there's long furture with republicans in control. -
Bakker is all about politics. If he was around, it would hurt the show and possibly the network.

I found Joy Reid incredibly tone-deaf? or something. The Dems need to find ways to expand the base. they can't win the way without trying to do something new. -

The commercial's for Cici's are on all the time here, but I've never gone. The only one of the seven deadly sins some people (like JB and Michelle) seem to worry about is lust outside of a heterosexual marriage. -
Huh?

yes, clearly a SIGN.

It's hard to say who "we" refers to. It could him and Jinger or him and his flock or him and the whole town of Laredo, because the hurricane isn't predicted to hit them as much. Corpus Christi is clearly a harder area and therefore he mentions those people. Probably if he and Jinger had to evacuate, his flock would have too. Given the limited character space I think tweet is fine.

I 'm not sure. Didn't the local newspaper print something about Joy marrying Austin before it happened that tipped people off about it?
-
No not really. That sounded too low to me for tuition (especially since he's younger than me and the cost is skyrocketing.). Now I don't know what he paid if he had scholarships, or legacy money, but actually it costs a lot more to go to OSU especially if you're not from Oklahoma. If he was from Ok at the time, then maybe. But I thought he grew up in Arkansas.

My christian friends are incredibly judgmental of anything they don't like, but they're less likely to stand up to bigotry, racism, and prejudice. My atheists friends are more tolerant of how people choose to live their lives, but far less tolerant of racism, bigotry, etc. @questionfear it breaks my heart to hear about anti-semitism. My sympathy is with those who are hurting. Strangely enough, a few of my christian friends have a harder time accepting loss. Not sure why. Maybe like the Duggars, they expect God will give them what they want if they pray for it and because they're good people.

It's not necessarily stupidity, more like immaturity. Plenty of kids have come home and said I want to go out and play only to be told by their parents to change out of their "good" clothes before going out. -

Anna seems to be wearing the same dress (in a different size) as Joy is in the motorbike pictures! -

It would look better with leggings. I doubt she owns any non-legging pants. As Arwen said, I like the helmets and I really like that she has knee pads on and proper footwear. (Better seen in the second picture.) Have we seen her wear pants without either a skirt or a dress? I know she prefered skirts and tops, but promised to wear dresses because that's what Austin likes. -
The whole family seems to have gone Gothard-lite. A lot of the old cultural touchstones are gone. They listen to music with a beat. They were dresses and skirts that show the knees. (I remember very well that Jessa had one a knee length skirt at her wedding rehersal.) I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting.
