  1. Yay! A Yorkshire lass playing the Doctor. She's going to be ace.
  2. John Barrowman is in hospital awaiting the removal of his appendix, but he managed to post this hilarious drugged video to Facebook: Watch for the part where he argues with his mother in a Scottish accent! (Eek, apologise for the size - how do I make it smaller? I just posted the Facebook link!?!)
  3. I just hope she doesn't get harrassed by the usual suspects.
  4. Haha yeah, I was seeing British friends saying things like "Oh no, I will have to have tea early" or "I may have to rearrange my trip to the shops" and I'm like dude, for Australians it's the middle of the night. Not that I'll be staying up unless I get a bout of insomnia - I'm not THAT invested. Edit: if it had been a specific time I might have got up - but 'After the men's final' is way too vague to waste hours of sleep.
  5. Best thing about True Blood. Tragic to have lost him so young. Vale.
  6. I would love a female doctor, but since the bro-dudes would launch into their toxic mass destruction over it (see: Ghostbusters), let's have a Romana spin-off instead and give the Doctor a rest for a year or two (yes, I realise they've already committed to a series in 2018).
  7. It looked like they were literally - as well as figuratively - shipping some characters off to parts unknown. The cast has got so big that I lose track - I wonder if next season will see a reduced core cast. TBH I'd be happy if they kept to the ones in the basement plus Maria, Lorna and a couple of others.
  8. I was thinking that last night as I went to bed. It made me have to concentrate on the screen more than I normally would, to read the subtitles, but I liked it. Suzanne off her meds is not something to look forward to, and probably will play some part later on in the season. Overall though, I wasn't a fan of the horror movie trope. I liked the execution, but I hate jump-scare stalker movies so this didn't do anything for me. I'm cheering for Red though. Hope she opens up a can of whoop-ass on that monster.
  9. My favourite line was probably Boo's "Have fun storming the castle!" - love a Princess Bride quote.
  10. I must be really dumb, but the thing that struck me most during this episode was "Isn't Nardole a robot? Why does he need oxygen?". The effects on Bill as she was exposed to vacuum were a little hyperbolic too. In reality (assuming she followed advice and didn't hold her breath), she would just pass out. I handwaved that though, and really enjoyed the rest. Good supporting cast, and I really felt for Bill when she thought she was going to die. Nardole, Bill and the Doctor are working really well together. More of this please!
  11. September seems like a long way away - and that's even before S3 makes its way onto a format that I can get hold of in Australia. Why can't we get simultaneous worldwide releases? Wouldn't Starz rather have the 20-odd dollars I'm going to give to Google?
  12. They drop the F bomb - quite a lot - and there are dismembered bodies. I think the sexy times references are the least of your worries but YMMV.
  13. Sherlock: He stays. Mycroft: This is family only. Sherlock: That's why he's staying.
  14. Oh, is it a character? I thought someone was going to jump over it and thought that was pretty ballsy of the account to include it.
  15. Well if their chapters are important in later books, I should try and at least tolerate them or I might as well not read the books, and I'd miss what happened to Claire, Jamie, Fergus, Jenny, etc.
  16. Thanks for the replies - I'll endeavour to try and like Bree & Roger a bit more. Sigh. Still skipping their sex scenes though, they squick me out completely for some reason.
  17. I finished this book a week or so ago and am half way through The Fiery Cross...and to be honest, some parts are becoming a bit of a chore. Those parts being those featuring Brianna/Roger. Brianna I can endure, she's not really a character in her own right, and the constant descriptions of her are really annoying. Yes, I know she's tall, I know she's got thick eyebrows. And the meeting with Jamie/reunion with Claire scenes mean that she gets a bit of slack. But I really cannot stand Roger, the man from the twentieth century who somehow manages to be much more of a colossal misogynist jerk than the man born in the eighteenth. I found myself hoping he'd drown, then that Jamie did actually kill him, then get gutted by Indians, die of exposure in the wilderness...but he's got more lives than a cat. And now because of Bree's baby I have to endure the pair of them because (for reasons that I'm still not clear on) they can't go back through the stones. Their sex scenes (or thoughts of lust for each other) just seem nauseatingly bad for some reason. It's a shame because I loved the parts about the settlement (hope that Jamie and Claire get rich in their old age so that the privation is worth it). I just wish that the series would get back to what made it so good - Jamie and Claire - and stop giving me Bree and Roger's POV that I'm not interested in. So my question is to my fellow book nerds going forward - will I miss anything important skipping or skimming the Roger/Bree POV chapters? Edit: they do have one benefit. I can now put down the books (well, my tablet) at night. "Roger POV chapter? Oh, look at the time."
  18. Conclusion of the pics of the SPN boys: Jensen Ackles is actually immortal. Doesn't look a day older than he did at the start of the show!
  19. Also re: the bubble butt suit and Hoechin's casting - it is indeed ironic that Mehcad Brooks looks more like Superman than Superman - bar that one thing that would have comic fanboys in a meltdown. Can you imagine what would happen if a black actor was cast as Superman?
  20. ...and just when I was about to start catching up with the show (FFing the LL bits) my enthusiasm has a swimming pool of icy water dumped upon it. This is actually depressing.
  21. Jeez talk about a poisoned chalice! I wonder if she realises. I liked her well enough on Arrow, not so much on True Blood (but the part was thankless).
  22. He did do a lot of campaigning in SE Asia over the break for his charity, didn't he? Might be just tired from all the travelling. He seems to have been pretty quiet on Twitter too lately.
  23. That photo of Stephen jumping the shark dolphin made me spit out my breakfast. Also love JB and EBR snogging in every photo: never stop being yourselves, it's hilarious. Glad the cast look so happy.
  24. That's insane (threatening JB). I'm glad he's taken steps to protect himself (and presumably Scott), knowing how much he loves the whole convention thing it must be pretty serious. Someone with mental issues presumably, who on earth would want to hurt an actor?
