  1. My favorite breed and Gus is a beauty. Gus could absolutely be trained to fetch beers. That would be cute as hell.
  2. I had something similar happen to me at a bar last year. The bartender ignored me and my friends several times. I leaned over and asked him if we were invisible. He was very attentive after that. I was happy that the show addressed being an older woman in our society. It was also nice to see Saint Marjorie with some flaws other than too many cats.
  3. I thought the same thing. Her acting is not good. She seems very stiff.
  4. Yep. He elevates everything. Also, any time they show Ruby blowing up Pops boat is a win. I never get tired of that.
  5. I watched some of the reruns on TV Land last week and was surprised by Roseanne's performances in a couple of episodes: the one where she makes Darlene go off to Chicago for school and the one at her father's funeral. She was better than I remember during the original series run. John Goodman is always great in whatever he does. Sara is good, but Darlene was kind of annoying to me.
  6. I've always gotten the bi-polar vibe from Toby. His over-the-top gestures have a manic edge about them. I'm guessing that's the territory the show is going to explore. I have a couple of very close relatives who are bi-polar and something about Toby rings that bell with me.
  7. I think the scene had something to do with Rebecca. She would be quite old by then. Also, it CANNOT be Beth. I won't allow it.
  8. I'm from Philly and I loved the Eagles stuff at the end. Mike Quick as the assistant coach and Merrell Reese in the broadcast booth. It made my day.
  9. I can't stand mopey Kate. How about honoring the father who loved you so much by doing something with your life. I like the actress, but I can't stand the character. And Toby is no Jack.
  10. I think we tend to idealize our loved ones who have died. I always feel that I am watching the idealized version of Jack and that he is being presented through the eyes of the people he left behind. That seems appropriate to me.
  11. I'm from Philly and an Eagles fan, so I know I won't be able to get through the night without crying because of the game and/or This Is Us. It's going to be a roller coaster ride.
  12. I laughed so hard at the scooter scene. I have a very bad knee and I hate walking around Home Depot. My sister once suggested using a scooter and I almost hit her with my cane. I think it was this episode where Grace asked if Frankie's ears "were strictly ornamental." That was a very funny line and true. I love how this show tackles the little indignities of aging.
  13. I hate that they're making Bow into a ditz. In the earlier seasons, she was always competent and level-head. Now she is sits around drinking wine and puts the child-rearing responsibility onto Junior. The purpose of her staying home was to be involved with her kids. WTF? Free Rainbow! Charlie, as always, for the win.
  14. I hate the way they treat Bow and her career. I thought I was watching a 1950s sitcom. In real life, if you want a successful career as a doctor, you can't be away from your job for long periods of time. Things change quickly in the medical field and it's a constant learning curve. Somewhere, Claire Huxtable is weeping.
  15. I found the way this episode was directed really distracting. Characters were out of frame and the shot would be on back of an empty chair or they were at the bottom of the screen. It looked like it was directed by a kid in film school trying to be "inventive." I'm so glad the finale was filmed with "traditional" direction.
  16. OMG, me too. There are no other Omars before him. That would have made my day! Favorite line of the night: "He bankrupted Burma and had a gentleman's amount of cocaine." Funny, but so sad because the sentencing for white collar crime is lenient.
  17. She asked her sister to "tell her everything." That's why I think the scene with her foot was deliberate on her part.
  18. I'll have to rewatch. I thought I only saw Anna in the sober picture at the end. Thanks.
  19. Wow. That was really terrible. The whole fat suit thing was distracting. Why not just have the character be pregnant? And what happened to the Christie's kids? And shouldn't Anna Faris get equal air time in the opening? That was the worst episode of the show that I can remember.
  20. I wish I had a friend like Randall when I was a trick-or-treating 10 year old. My friends and I were always trying to "optimize" our candy.
  21. I hope that's not the case. I really want the writers to address Toby's control issues. I like Chris Sullivan as an actor and I think he could carry that story line. (He was one of my favorite characters in the Knick.) That scene at the coffee shop was ridiculous. As much as I adore Jack, I think his grand gestures come from his insecurity.
  22. I hope his grand gestures are a set-up for a more interesting, darker story line. I find him creepy and controlling. Kate should get as far away from him as possible. Maybe that is the direction the story is headed: Kate getting away from this controlling man.
  23. I loved this episode. I am Dre when playing Monopoly, so I can relate. I'm not a competitive person in any area of life except board games. I have a bit of a "reputation" within my family. I loved, loved, loved Ruby and Pops. They were the episode standouts. I hope they rekindle their relationship because that would be comedy gold.
  24. I hate Toby. What a controlling d-bag. I wanted to reach through my tv and smack him. He was totally trying to sabotage Kate. I love Beth. My heart broke when Deja cut off her braids. I'm glad they are being realistic about fostering. I was afraid that after one bonding session with Deja everything would be ok. Foster children often times have dealt with a lot of trauma and abuse that isn't easily overcome. I like that they are showing that.
