  1. I believe that was in reference to the former actress (Karen) he had an affair with before he met Caroline. She was from the traveling troop of players that came to Nampara. She stayed behind, married a local miner -- unadvisedly -- and then immediately regretted it, starting up an affair with Dwight.
  2. I didn't get how the Cecily subplot was resolved. Did the Poldarks spirit her away to Jamaica with Kitty? If neither her father nor no one else is going with her, surely she can do whatever she wants once she disembarks ... unless there's going to be someone waiting for her. That was a puzzlement.
  3. He can advertise all he wants. That won't equal votes. I mean, the Morning Joe crew really can't stay on message here. For weeks, all we've talked about is how Biden is the only one who can appeal to the white working class *and* older black voters who are the backbone of the Dem party. But now *Bloomberg* can appeal to them? All the money in the world isn't going to make Bloomberg appealing to black voters, if almost all of the current Dem candidates are having trouble getting their support. Plus, as Elise Jordan said, Bloomberg is known for strict gun control and for a soda tax. THAT is not going to appeal to the white working class in the midwest.
  4. Wow, could these men like Donnie and Issacson be any more sexist: Bloomberg is competent but Elizabeth Warren is not, and he can EXPLAIN to her why her plan for M4A won't work. LOL!
  5. When looking at poll numbers and that kernel of hard support of 35% or so that Trump has no matter what he does, Eddie asks what that says about those people. That Trump didn't create them. Instead, he took advantage and expressed their racist, sexist values. He verbalizes and approves of those feelings they had already. And for some reason, at the end of Eddie's statement, Mika had to respond, "the same thing can be said about Democrats. What does that say about Democrats?" Huh? What same thing can be said? Her bothside-ism here makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. What point did she think she was making, other than the knee jerk, both sides? Nobody *he* knows, so he equates that with everyone.

As someone who grew up in Philly but who has been living in Washington since the early 1990s, I *think* Astros' fans should have nothing to worry about in DC. If they were in Philly? Not so much. (To be honest, I've tried to contribute a little of my Philly 'tude to my Nationals fandom, but Nationals' fans are nice ... except when it comes to criminal politicians.... DESERVEDLY.)
  7. Thank you. But there was every possibility something horrible could've happened to George, his family, and Trenwith, so that was some risky business. You can't always control a mob once you unleash them.
  8. I don't understand. Hansen, the guy who wants his daughter to marry George, paid that girl who works for Demelza to spy on Ned, right? He did not pay her to help destroy Trenwith and possibly kill George, right? What was the plan there? I was making dinner so I must've missed something.
  9. Huh? I've always paid extra for STARZ via Comcast. If this is the case, I'll just drop all of Comcast's premium channels and watch the show via Amazon Prime. (If it's available in the U.S. that way and not just in the U.K.)

Eeeeeee! I was there. It was super stressful! After the first few innings, it almost seemed liked all the Nats pitchers were throwing balls, instead of strikes, and all the Nats hitters were popping flys. Meanwhile, the Card's pitchers seemed to get better as the game wore on. Seriously, we were all on pins and needles in the upper, upper level of section 417, especially loud, obnoxious drunk guy.
  11. The festival buns challenge was strange. Do we have a festival bun in the U.S.? I know we have hamburger and hot dog buns and we have sticky buns but none of them suggest a particular holiday or occasion. When Paul mentioned that Rosie may be in danger of going home after the showstopper, I was scratching my head. Didn't she just win the technical? Does that mean nothing?
  12. It looks like that podcast that Graham and Sam are doing together about Scottish clans and history is turning into a television show. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/4802440/outlander-sam-heughan-graham-mctavish-scottish-clans/
  13. Not sure what this is about: Oh, here's the answer:
  14. 5th season trailer released -- I'm guessing because the Outlander gang was at New York's Comic Con this weekend. Putting it in the spoiler section in case there are people who don't want to know anything.
  15. Alice reminds me of a beauty contestant. More Miss America than Miss Universe. I see her as a Miss Texas or from some other southern state. Oh ... and I was utterly shocked they sent Michelle home. She had been one of their better bakers for weeks now.
  16. Steve Rattner *must* be getting paid by the health insurance industry. He is utterly disdainful of Medicare for All and seems to think Americans are very happy with their employer health insurance, like they have all these other options and have a history of being able to select other options and stay with employee insurance anyway. They have NO choice, Rattner, and in many cases, it's inadequate. I wish we could all live in that rarefied space that Rattner lives in where all your health issues are handled by our pals at CIGNA, AETNA, Humana, and BCBS and it's super affordable. Plus, we can leave our jobs at any time and still be covered.
  17. Maybe I tried to post this back in March above? But in any event, I don't see anything about these two actors who've been cast in Season 5 in feature roles. I'm putting it in the spoilers area since there's speculation on who they play, which obviously reveals some of the plot for the season. http://www.outlanderlocations.com/news/new-cast-member-mark-barrett-joins-outlander/ http://www.outlanderlocations.com/news/leonard-cook-joins-outlander-in-featured-role/
  18. I just returned from Scotland last Friday and I recognize all those castles/palaces posted above. 😉 My cousin and I took the four day Rabbie's Tour. Our tour guide was a handsome 30-something Scotsman in a kilt who was former military. Loved him.
  19. Diana retweeted this. She said she's a Birch. (I'm an Oak.)
  20. I thought the article was saying that Power was its flagship show. Leaving that aside Diana and fans took issue with the "premium female" comment.
  21. For the people doing the Rabbies' four day tour, where did you stay during the tour? We were surprised that accommodations was not included. (Plus, we don't know where to store our extra luggage since they only allow a carry on during the four days.)
  22. Just saw the movie this afternoon and thought it an interesting, fun premise, whatever one might think of the execution. I prefer the idea that Jack (and obviously those other two people) were tossed into an alternate universe rather than that somehow the world changed and only those three -- and potentially more, who knows? -- remained the same. I, too, would have had a problem appropriating the artistry of the Beatles -- even if I had the ability to do so -- or the work of J.K. Rowling. However, I've got to say, I would've been awfully tempted to work on the Coke recipe. It's "pure chemistry," unlike music or writing, and I just wouldn't feel the same sense of guilt over "stealing" that discovery and making a ton of money off of it. 😉
  23. If you pick up the book, you'll find a family tree in the front, which will probably answer some of your questions.
  24. Welcome. If you don't want to risk waiting, maybe season 3 DVDs or Blu-rays should be on your X-mas list. That way you can continue watching without relying on Netflix. Or, you can look to see if your library has them.
  25. Don't they all look angry (or totally bored), no matter how they walk or what their size?
