  1. I thought for sure Hester was going to win. I didn't like her personality and I thought many of her designs were ridiculous, but she produced the kind of show that usually appeals to the people who judge these things. In fact, I also found her collection entertaining. But, I'm glad Sebastian won because he creates fashion that can also be worn which, you know, is kind of important if you want to have a career.
  2. I actually loved Sebastian's dress. It's just my taste and I thought it was beautiful.
  3. And yet they still won't get rid of her. That doesn't mean Jamal wins. There are better designers, but it does eliminate and out and out liar.
  4. Tessa should've been offed because she out and out lied about what her client wanted and then she poorly executed what SHE, Tessa, wanted. She is arrogant and I can't believe anyone would want to work with her to design something since she loves her own opinions more than the person who has to wear her monstrosities.
  5. That's the second time that's happened to her. It seems like she doesn't take this thing seriously.
  6. Totally agree. Bishme's look was ridiculously ugly, while Sonja's looked elegant ... which is what they asked for. So, my feeling was, they combined Sonja's age with the fact that she didn't excite them tonight and decided that she never would excite them. If she were younger, I definitely think they would've kept her because, of course, younger people always have the potential to "break out" while older people are stuck in ruts.... Oh! But who was the person stuck in the rut, but was given chance after chance and pushed out of it? Tonight's young winner, of course! And the ultimate irony was, Brandon (a judge) put Tessa down for being judgmental about a curvy model and not wanting to work with her, while they themselves consistently boot older contestants because of their own ageist views. So, maybe they should take their own advice.
  7. FYI for fans you know who don't have STARZ. https://www.nerdsandbeyond.com/2019/04/22/outlander-seasons-one-and-two-to-arrive-on-netflix-may-27/
  8. I'm so jealous. My cousin and I have discussed doing something similar. May I ask if you're taking a special tour with a particular company? There are a number of them and I've wondered which one fans gravitate to.
  9. If the Congress lets Trump "get away" with this, then we're done because the Russians will be back attacking our voting system -- since Trump won't protect it -- and whose to say they won't be even more successful than 2016? Whose to say they won't be able to change votes in close battleground states, awarding the presidency to Trump again? I really worry about that.
  10. I hated Hester's look and thought it was pure costume. No way was that transitioning to fashion. I was kind of rooting for Tessa's. I could definitely see people wearing that and I thought the message was unique and inspiring. But, instead, the judges went with the kitsch, which is exactly what they said they didn't want, and I can understand Tessa's frustration.
  11. This was unbelievable. He practically sneered when it said it. Yeah, Hillary's not a man who screwed around on his wife -- she was just the victim -- and she's definitely not a white man, so of course Donnie wouldn't find her -- as the first woman to ever win a major party's nomination -- a hero. But, I'm guessing a few women and young girls felt a lot of pride in that milestone. Donnie needs to be off our TV screens yesterday.
  12. I suddenly feel very old and very not street -- although I was raised in the inner city, in the projects -- but many years ago. I had no idea who Dapper Dan was, nor what exactly street wear is supposed to be. I felt sorry for the foreign designers. They had no clue what American street wear was. I understand that a designer should learn about all kinds of fashion. But I kind of felt sorry for them. Anyway, I just didn't really care about this challenge.
  13. And note that the Hidden Figures story could've been told at that time. The facts were there. Women were making major contributions in science, law, politics, culture, but no films were made until now.
  14. There were not a lot of female centric films that was critically acclaimed in the 70s. I lived it. I hated it.
  15. I agree. But there were also a lot of male buddy films in the 70's like The Sting. Women's roles were either sidekicks to men or hookers. I remember Jane Fonda getting the Academy Award playing a hooker and Louise Fletcher getting the same for a role that was barely on the screen. Not a good time for women in film.
  16. How can Walter Isaacson be so intentionally naive as to believe that Bill Barr is sincere? "Can't we just wait and see what he releases?! Maybe he's sincere!" Come on! This has got to be intentional because this viewpoint is definitely not based on facts. Makes me wonder about his books, now.
  17. Why do they have a conservative, Brett Stephens, handicapping the Democratic race? And talk about inside the beltway politics, the immediate discussion afterwards is, how is Biden going to stop Bernie Sanders, dismissing everyone else?! Gah! God, these non-Democrats, leading the most ridiculous discussion about the Democratic primaries and what Democrats want is exasperating.
  18. Well, it didn't help that Nadine (out of the judges' hearing) called them bitches. I'm sure they found out about that. Plus, blaming the model's size sucks to high heaven since 1) it's part of this seasons' challenges, and 2) she wasn't the only one with a full figure model. And, yes, Hester's look gave me a picnic or diner vibe. I thought that the moment she picked up that crap at Mood.
  19. I can't remember the name of the guy who comes on the show with charts -- Steve Ratner? -- but he was on there this morning, and I want him to be forced to explain why he said the Green New Deal and Medicare for All are irresponsible proposals. He just rattled that comment off, when comparing them to the "more responsible" policies proposed by "more moderate" candidates like Amy Klobuchar, Hickenlooper, possibly Bennett, et al.
  20. May be a small role, but this gentleman has confirmed that he has a role in Season 5.
  21. Part of me thinks, the whole idea of having two east coast HQs was a bridge too far. What got me was that guy from AEI, Arthur Brooks? In his interview, he kept saying that Democrats are stoking hatred. Really? Which Democrats are doing that? I'm not surprised Brooks is the president of AEI, with that coming out of his mouth and no naming names or giving examples. When I voiced that observation on twitter, someone responded that Brooks just wrote a book titled, Love Thy Enemy, so he needs to prove we are all haters.
  22. That's what I mean. They can't have too much of that, or it'll look like they don't know what they're doing. (Wow! They keep eliminating the ultimate winner!)
