Can that be an actual cartoon? Please?

Oh totally. I hated how the mother told Toula that her father "just wanted her to be happy." Toula WAS happy, and her father was throwing a tantrum just because her boyfriend wasn't Greek. Got some more: Jennifer Lopez's whole stinking family in Angel Eyes. The father abuses the mother and shuns Jennifer for calling the cops on him, and the rest of the family -- including that pathetic excuse of a mother -- goes along with it because apparently it's better to watch your mother die than rat out your family to the cops. Diane Court's dad in Say Anything. He had a lot of nerve meddling with his daughter's love life while he was stealing money from his own patients. David's parents in Clara's Heart were selfish jerks that were so wrapped up in their marital problems that barely noticed that they had a son. Yes, it's terrible that they lost a baby, but that's no excuse to neglect the child that's still alive! The overbearing parents in Dead Poets Society whose son killed himself and they blamed the teacher instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. Cameron Diaz in My Sister's Keeper. Everyone on TWOP had nothing but contempt for that woman for using her youngest daughter as an endless organ doner for the terminally ill daughter. Again, I get how horrible these situations are, but a line should be drawn. What makes it worse is that it was implied that the sick daughter wouldn't survive a kidney transplant anyway, and yet the mother still wanted to go through with it. So she was basically risking the youngest daughter's life for nothing.

I watched The Lego Movie today...and it's a pity we can't have Will Arnett's Lego Batman instead of Ben Affleck. Hee. Or that. Yeah, I'd definitely go to that. My friend and I were really upset about that wasted opportunity.

Whoa, I forgot about that hyena episode! And yes, this is another example of how whenever Xander screws up everyone instantly forgives and forgets while others don't get the same treatment (especially by Xander). Say what you want about Anya and Cordelia, but at least they held Xander accountable for his own actions. Speaking about this icky subject matter, let's not forget that Xander was all set to slut-shame Buffy when he thought she and Spike had another tryst until he found about that it was an attempted rape. Even if he did apologize for it later, it was still a dick move. I really don't understand why Buffy stayed friends with him for so long.

Bringing back the TWOP thread of worst SVU parents! Here are the ones I hated the most: The cheating parents on "Families" whose children unwittingly slept with each other. The mother was especially horrible: he lets her daughter die in the street, acts like she didn't know anything, and pretends to accuse her own son of raping his sister when the police found evidence of incest. And all to protect the married guy she's sleeping with?! What a piece of work. The judge who was molesting his stepdaughter and the mother who killed her to keep it quiet in "Justice." I really hated how the mother not only claimed her daughter "seduced" him, but basically blamed the whole thing on her for "betraying her." Ugh. And finally, the parents in "Home Invasion." I really didn't blame the daughter for having her parents killed because her dad was raping her and her mom didn't do anything to stop it because she didn't want a scandal. The fact that her mother was also cheating on her husband with another woman and was planning to leave her family once the daughter was grown made it even more despicable. There are other terrible ones, but I'm sure I'll think of them later.

I caught a rerun of "Blood Is Thicker..." the other day -- the one where the wife of a rich family was killed by her psycho husband because she was cheating on him and Stone needed the married doctor she was sleeping with to testify but he was quibbling because he was married. I always get so annoyed with the doctor: he went on about how he would have married the lady if "things had been different" but was terrified of losing his family. Well he should have thought about that before he cheated on her. So glad she filed for divorce at the end because quite frankly he had it coming.

I loathed Walter White, especially in the final couple of seasons, but after watching the cesspool of scum that was Lester in the Fargo TV series, Walt comes off smelling like a rose compared to him. Both were equally despicable people, but at least Walt's evil schemes didn't skate on dumb luck and dumb cops. Plus, Walt's descent into hell was more gradual: he started out just wanting to make illegal money whereas Lester just jumped right into murder. And while nothing Walt did could ever really redeem himself from the countless lives he ruined, he at least was enough of a man to come back and finish what he started by ridding the world of Jack and the Neo Nazis -- and saving Jesse. You gotta give him credit for that much.

Season One: Law & Order Goes Cerebral
Spartan Girl replied to GHScorpiosRule's topic in Law & Order: Criminal Intent
"Crazy" always makes me angry for the reason that the ex-wife who set the whole thing in motion by LYING about her daughter being molested by the murder victim and continuing to lie about when the police questioned her never answers for her crime. I wish we could have had one scene about her son finding out about it and lashing out at her for it. -
Gus took out Malvo -- did NOT see that coming. I was so sure Malvo was going to kill him. And Lester died the way he lived: a selfish coward. But what happened to the brother and his family? I'm sure that the tape was enough to exonerate him, but I would have loved to see the fallout from his wrongful arrest. Personally, I thought Molly's glove story was just a subtle way of telling him that she knew that he was a scumbag and everything he said was bullshit but she wasn't going to dignify saying it out loud. I guess I'm glad Bill didn't die. He was an okay guy, but he was a shitty cop and it was because of his incompetence that Malvo and Lester were able to murder so many people. I did like that even he finally realized Lester's bullshit when he snapped "Just answer the question" in the interrogation. RIP Agents Key and Peele. I liked them. Thank God Molly's family came out in one piece. I was especially happy that Lou made it: I loved the scene of him and Greta sitting on the porch with shotguns.

Somebody made a South Park/Book of Mormon crossover. This is brilliant. I swear to God, if I didn't know better I thought Trey and Matt actually did it. And this is pretty coincidental for me since I saw Book of Mormon last Sunday -- funniest freaking show ever!

I know he's long gone, but I thought I'd restart the Stabler thread. Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I always liked Stabler. Sure he was a hot head and sometimes hard to live with, but at the same time, I completely understood where he was coming from. Can you really blame him for fantasizing about killing pedophiles and rapists? One of my favorite moments with him was in "Justice" when it was uncovered that this judge impregnated his stepdaughter, and when somebody gave the "he's a respected judge" spiel, Eliot said, "Which doesn't mean squat to me if he raped that little girl." And for all his family problems, I never doubted that he loved them (I was one of the few that liked Kathy and was glad that she and him worked things out). And his problems were pretty tame compared to Amaro's. True, it was obvious that the job was getting to him. Having to shoot that girl was definitely the straw that broke the camel's back. I don't know what the situation is with the SVU producers and Christopher Meloni, but I really wish we'd get some closure on Eliot -- at least let us know if he's okay or still alive.

Yes, but then when Buffy showed up, he acted like a snot, saying "looks like your boyfriend isn't as cured as you thought" and "Faith's a big girl, she could figure it out by herself." And this after seconds ago realizing that Angel probably didn't do it. Jerk. Yes. Exactly.

My two cents on Linda: she didn't think Lester had anything to do with the murders, but only covered for him with Molly because she thought it would look bad if he admitted that it was his idea to leave in the middle of the night. She probably thought it was a harmless white lie.

Entertainment Weekly reviewed the finale and gave it a B+ Hope that means it's satisfying.

"A Murderer Among Us" is the one CI episode that always gets to me because that guy was such a bigoted freak. Hope he got the death penalty. That poor wife realizing that her husband was a full blown psychopath/bigot...I totally don't blame her for killing herself and trying to frame him for it. But her poor daughter will probably spend the rest of her life in therapy. Yeesh.

LMAO!: Hilarious Movie Moments
Spartan Girl replied to Shannon L.'s topic in Everything Else About Movies
My ultimate favorite has to be John Belushi's zit impression and subsequent food fight in Animal House. I swear, the first time I saw it I laughed so hard I couldn't breath and it still cracks me up. -
As always in the Whedonverse, there are definitely some characters that we hate, but every time we let out our scorn in threads, it always starts a huge debate over motives and attitudes, etc, because some of the characters we hate are ones other characters absolutely love. Not that there's anything wrong with that: everyone is welcome to their own opinion. But I thought I'd start a thread that allows us to unleash our utmost scorn for Buffy characters we hate, without judgments or debates. Shall we begin? For a warm-up, I never liked Riley. For the only "nice normal" serious boyfriend Buffy ever had, he came off as insecure and aggressive when it came to the fact that Buffy was stronger than him. And when Buffy didn't lean on him or grieve the way he wanted her to, he goes around and cheats on her with vampires. Then he has the nerve to issue the "we work this out or I'm leaving" ultimatum. Real nice. And then there's Xander. There are a million reasons why I can't stand him. His immaturity. His tendency to put Buffy on a pedestal and then verbally eviscerate her when she makes mistakes. Getting Amy to cast the love spell on Cordelia with the sole purpose of just breaking her heart. Him finally noticing Willow only when she was with Oz and cheating on Cordelia with her. Him being judgmental about Buffy with Angel/Spike while he's free to sleep with Anya -- who massacred just as many people as Angel and Spike, soul or no soul. The constant whining about his terrible taste in women when his two failed relationships with Cordy and Anya were his fault. And the fact that whenever HE screws up, everybody automatically forgives him with little or no judgment -- and yet he never really extends the same courtesy...oh I could go on and on... I hope this is a good idea for a thread. Remember, no character is immune!

My favorite Benderism: "I deserve better. I'm Bender, dammit! I'm Bender!"
-
Thought I'd start a thread for the best emotional moments of Futurama. My favorites are: * Seymour *sniffle* * Everything in "The Late Philip J. Fry" * The end of "Fun on A Bun" with Fry and Leela vaguely recognizing each other in their respective amnesiac states, culminating in a passionate kiss that triggers both their memories. That has to be one of the most epic kisses in the history of animated television. * The montage of Fry living on the Amish Planet with Ghost Bender. The sad look on Bender's face when he tries to hug Fry always touches me...one of his few geniunely soft moments on the show. And of course, the series finale.

A Different World - General Discussion
Spartan Girl replied to David T. Cole's topic in A Different World
"I DO!!!!" Lol, sorry I couldn't resist. ;) I also liked this one line Whitley had where she confronts a girl whose boyfriend is beating her up, and the abused girlfriend points out that she doesn't understand because she has someone, and Whitley replies, "Yes, I do, and her name is Whitley!" Love her. -
God, I was so sure he was going to die. I'm glad he didn't, but still it was so intense. I LOVED those FBI guys giving the smackdown to stupid Bill for overlooking the solid evidence that connected to Lester to Malvo. I hope his ass gets fired for his incompetency. Jesus H. Tapdancing Christ, I hate Lester so much that I hope he's the one that winds up in the woodchipper for the finale. That poor wife didn't deserve that. The only thing she was guilty of was being dumb enough to love and trust Lester (and cover for him in the interview with Molly). My friend and I kept saying, "That poor girl" over and over again. His comeuppance is long overdue.

When I first saw Back to the Future as was a kid, I seriously wanted to marry Michael J. Fox. Marty McFly was exactly the kind of boyfriend I thought I'd meet in high school. Sadly, I didn't. But I still love Michael J. Fox, Parkinson's be damned.
