What a weird show. I liked it ok, but not as much as I expected to after reading some of the raves about it.

She seems to be the favorite of a lot of viewers, but Tati was the character I enjoyed least. I've heard that playing dumb characters well can be particularly challenging and I didn't think Ana Fabrega made it work. But I did like the explanation for why she is the way she is and she looked great in that JLo dress. Andrés was my favorite and I was a little sad that he and Juan Carlos split up.

The subplots with the news anchor and Fred Armisen weren't very well integrated, but I loved some of the show's odd touches like the water demon's determination to watch The King's Speech and the owl in a wig as a major tourist attraction. And the friendship between Renaldo, Ursula, and Andrés was genuinely sweet.

Los Espookys is getting a second season. I'm thinking a lot of people saw that coming. Including Tati. She sees time differently than us, you know.

I think it was good as far as Friday Night HBO goes. The shifting subtitles get easier to read, and you get used to the weirdness within the weirdness.

Just binged the show. Started watching the show because of Fred Armisen, kept watching because OMG!!! it's funny. Biggest problem seemed to be that the integration of the different story lines was a bit awkward at times. It did seem like Fred was in a different show half the time. But I'm glad it's getting a second season.

Andres is my favorite, I just want that blue haired little freak to be happy. And while I found Tati kind of annoying, all was forgiven when she showed up in the JLo dress, she even made me like Juan Carlos.

This show is so delightfully bizarre, I loved every second of it. Especially because, while it clearly takes a lot of inspiration from horror movies and tropes, its just doing its own weird little thing in its weird little world of cursed mirrors, Valley Girl Ambassadors, and water demons obsessed with watching Colin Firth films. I assume that next season might clear up some of the other subplots, like with the news anchor, now that they seem interested in Ursula, but who knows with this show?

Tati actually experiences time different than everyone else really does explain a lot.

I am only on episode 2. At one point Tati said something about her accent being unusual or something . . . I don't speak Spanish and I can't tell whether her accent is different from anyone else's. Is it?

Much has changed for Los Espookys: Renaldo is haunted by the ghost of a pageant queen, Andrés has relinquished the title of chocolate empire scion, Tati is married, and Úrsula is plagued by mysterious phone calls. As they take on their newest client - an incompetent groundskeeper hoping to get grieving families off his back - Tico faces a career transition.

I'm so happy this show is back for another season. I never heard anything about it after Season 1 years ago, so I just figured it was over. The premiere was great. I'm glad the diabolical TV people are still after Ursula, I'm glad to see Tati making gazpacho and Andres talking to the Moon, and I'm sorry but intrigued that Renaldo is being haunted by a pageant queen.

I hope there won't be a lot more focus on Tico's daughter. Tico either, actually. And I really, really hope whoever is in charge of HBO leaves this show alone to be its wonderful self.

Me: “Wait, so if Karina didn’t die, how could she pop up in the porn- . . . I should let it go, huh?”

I thought we were going to get a Pulp Fiction gold light out of Tati’s purse.  I’m glad we didn’t.  But can’t believe the season is over already!

Was that a thing before the finale? I can’t remember.

The second season, which launched in September (after considerable pandemic delays), saw the writing growing sharper, the plots wilder and more literary. Which makes the cancelation sting all the more. I was hoping a third season might bring more narrative polish. (I was also hoping to learn what Tati carried around in her mysterious little bag.)

6 episode series that tells the tale of when he lost a little golden oyster. The people he encounters as he searches for it, and the musings he has along the way, become points of departure for introspective, often eerie comedic stories about outsiders navigating an increasingly corporate and rapidly dysfunctional New York City.
