Shannon seemed to want to get ahead of her legal issues. She went to rehab without being told to. She was also very scared of the ring camera videos coming out. She knew what she must have looked like which was probably like Karen only worse since she was mad at her ex boyfriend.
Karens been acting like she was a wronged party. Until I saw the footage of her arrest, I  imagined her to be a drink over the legal limit after having an accident.

Gina probably was just a bit over the limit when she was stopped but did what Shannon did - and what most people do.

They accept the plea and put it behind them with expressions of remorse and culpability.

That Karen could have viewed the tapes and decided to go to trial is where she veered into delusional territory.

And then the audacity of continuing to proclaim that all will reveal that it was a misunderstanding and she wasn’t drunk - let alone completely incapacitated to even walk. 😱🤷‍♀️

Accepting a deal normally reduces some charges, or some are even dropped, if there are multiple ones (just look at the cases of Shannon, and Karen), and sentencing is not as harsh. One of the two Shannon's charges was dropped, the hit and run (she crashed into a house, and fled the scene, but stopped, and parked in the middle of the road neaby, perhaps because she broke her wrist).

PR representation is important. Some celebrities are clueless regarding how to act, and what to say. Karen is an example. The accident happened a few weeks before filming started. She should have received advice before if she wanted to participate.

Shannon and Karen are probably equivalent in terms of finances at this point.

There is nothing indicating that Shannon has money beyond the relatively small settlement from her divorce and whatever she earns through the show and the side gigs and social media

Shannon didn't receive "special treatment" - She didn't have a particularly high powered attorney but she followed the completely standard advice of her attorney which was to accept a plea - do public service - do some kind of court mandated sobriety program.

Karen - for whatever reason - chose to go to trial even after viewing the tapes. Nothing indicates that her attorney provided her with incompetent representation or that she would have received any better result if she had hired Boies or equivalent.

I'm not sure if Shannon Beador had preferential treatment, or not, but the Orange County DA wanted her to serve some prison time- at least 30 days- and the judge didn't agree. One charge, the hit and run was also dropped. Her attorney fought against her going to rehab (this was a major point for her). She completed an outpatient 28-day behavioral wellness program with an alcohol component.

Shannon Beador was forced to attend an outpatient facility program after the agreement with the DA's office. It was not rehab (her attorney managed to achieve this, so I assume he was good, on top of a charge being dropped- the hit and run). She completed a 28-day behavioral wellness program with an alcohol component.

But her attorneys in media statements and in court (she was not present at her sentencing trial) mentioned how sorry, and regretful she was, etc.

Thank you, I forgot the details and also the timing of Shannon’s dui vs Karen’s  as well as their filming were about 4- 6 months apart?  Not that it matters all that much in Shannon’s case. She pretended to want to get sober in outpatient vs pretending to want to get sober and having to stay there.

#Dead .. LOL

I almost spit out my coffee!

I'm watching the video now. Goodness! She is much worse than I thought. She even said, "Do you know who I am" (slurring) to the officer. Yikes. When she's in the police car it looks like her wig is about to fall off.

I can't watch the rest. It's painful.

I guess Gordon isn't too manic at this time.

I am planning on attending The Sentencing of the Grand Dame, it shall hereby be known as TSOTGD.

My son is a terrible enabler...he never watched these HW shows until he met his now wife, now we talk about the shows and plan field trips, I am not sure if I am proud of my son or ashamed, lol.

Mia is like Kim Z from Atlanta, a desperate hustler throwing anything against the wall and hoping something will stick.

The problem comes from:

1. Nobody cares about reality TV when there are so many people on social media airing their dirty laundry every second of the day.

2. When you get the reputation for being a desperate ***, you lose the shock factor.

Kim was able to get her spinoff show but the television landscape has drastically changed since then.

Kim is now on trying not to lose her house and she's not out on the street...yet.

Mia did not crawl out of poverty to go back now that she has three kids.

Gordon has no money and has agreed to be the cuckold so Mia can keep coming with the storylines.

Let's keep this real: Ray is fine now but he is almost 80 and he is going to need caretaking in the future. It could be 5 or 10 years from now but he will need care and Karen doesn't want to sit around with him now and she's not going to want to sit around with him when he needs care.

Karen's parents weren't in their 90s, they were in their early 70s when they died.  Her parents and Ray were the same age, by the way. If her parents were still alive, they would still be in their late 70s. You don't need to be in your 90s to come down with Alzheimers or dementia; both B. Smith and Bruce Willis were diagnosed in their 60s.

We didn't hear about the caretaking of Karen's parents because she wasn't the one caretaking the parents, her sister was.

It's no shade to Karen because most people are not mentally, physically or emotionally equipped to be a caretaker. That's why they leave it up to another family member or a facility.  And the family member who ends up being the caretaker is usually the oldest daughter or the unmarried daughter.  It is what it is.

We don't know what Ray is like behind closed doors but what we do know is when Karen had her crash, he was right there at the scene trying to help her out.

I wonder if the new soap opera "Beyond the Gates" will edit out Karen's cameo appearance?

Kim's house is gone. On the auction block. Not sure if it has sold yet, though we'd likely have heard. One of the girls did a farewell to my childhood home social media post on Christmas.

Mia needs to slow her trashy roll right down because a lot of people are saying she's too low class to be on Potomac--and they're right.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I don't want to say I have missed the HW's shows but last night I had a dream I was at a bar waiting for a bunch of HW's and Karen walked in and sat next to me and there were other HW's from other cities, I decided to do a running jump over a couch because I had to have a schtick to stay on the show so sofa jumping became my thing...I should seek psychological help.

I swear I am not really nuts.

Karen found guilty. Could serve up to 2 years. Why would she opt for a jury trial?

Because some people are delusional and think they can manipulate other people into getting their way. There is a reality show called "Love and Marriage Huntsville" where the husband took a video of his wife giving him fellatio (but his face isn't seen in the video). They are now divorced and he sent her a screenshot of the video to threaten her (he also showed the video to the other cast members on the show and admitted to sending the screenshot to his ex-wife to a YouTube blogger).

The ex-wife went to the police and the the police charged him with domestic violence/harassing communications. He had a judge trial in September and was found guilty but received a suspended sentence.  He is now appealing the sentence and wants a jury trial, which will occur next month.

Sadly for him, one of the cast members confirmed he showed them the video of the ex-wife performing fellatio.

Lots of people are guilty, know they're guilty and other people know they're guilty but they think they can be slick enough to get out of it and Karen is one of those people.

I think the elephant in the room is that Shannon was born into a vast fortune and had the money for top legal representation.

Karen has her Bravo paycheck and whatever Ray has left in his bank account.

I thought this wasn't Karen's first time in court for DUI. It was Shannon's first DUI arrest (boy, she probably was just not caught).

That's the conman/conwomen hustle.

Most fools are not near charismatic enough to get away with it.

Karen was dead wrong and caught red handed unless those videos were created by AI.

Essence Magazine thinks Mia is declassing the show.

Last season, Essence wrote about the colorism going on and the xenophobia of the osu/shrine storyline and BRAVO toasted up the cast and got rid of Nneka* so Mia might be watching Season 10 at home with Gordon, Jacqueline and Inc.

*It's a shame cast & production used Nneka to get rid of Wendy with the osu/shrine storyline because I think Nneka would've fit in great with the new cast changes.

I liked the article better than I thought I would.

I still can't believe a woman who has probably 3 fathers for her children (she does not know at this minute) is calling out Gizzy's girls for allegedly sneaking in boys.

Why is it older women whitewash their pasts but get on young ladies for just enjoying their youth?

I remember when Nene (in Atlanta) implied that Cynthia's lovely daughter, Noelle, might be fast.  Idiot Cynthia got up and cried.

Who is Nene to judge anyone else's parenting?

My guess is that the poor child is Inc's son, but Inc is broke, and while Gordon is also broke, Gordon's family has money.

I am 39 and I hate it when women my age act this way.

Mia, you judging Gizzy's girls is like a turd saying lavender smells bad.

Your desperation is showing and I too (like the Essence writer) liked you in the first season.
