9-1-1: Lone Star Casts Chad Lowe as Real-Life Brother Rob's Estranged Sibling for 'Painful' Family Reunion

Quote

Chad Lowe, the actor’s real-life brother, will play Owen’s estranged sibling in the show’s May 2 episode (9/8c), TVLine has learned exclusively. We can also confirm that Robert Pine (CHiPs) will guest-star as Owen’s father. Per the episode’s official logline, “Owen travels to Los Angeles to confront his estranged father and some painful childhood memories.”

This marks the first time Chad Lowe has appeared on camera for 9-1-1: Lone Star. He previously directed two episodes, Season 2’s “Slow Burn” and Season 3’s “Red vs. Blue.”

I came across an old-ish interview (2019) with Rob Lowe and could not finish. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and erase the bad impression I had, so I started listening to it. But it is not possible. He is one of the most proudly ignorant person when it comes to politics and history. It is like he lives in an alternate reality where facts don't really count when he wants to justify his views. My initial impressions of him were spot on.

My DirecTV listings say it's a repeat. Since the strike started, though, they are listing some things as new that are most definitely repeats. I think it's a desperate plea from the networks to get people to watch during the strike.

My DVR is set to record it as a new episode, but the description definitely sounds like the county fair one.  I'm going to take a chance that it's a rerun, because I want to record two other things that evening and something has to go.  If this show is a rerun, then it's off the DVR.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think if this is the first time an episode of a show is being aired on a particular network, it could be considered new to them even if it was already shown elsewhere. Entire Battlebots seasons have run on other networks than Discovery like SciFi as new and the recording dates in the online guide are the only giveaway.

Why bother?  2 years between new shoes, no 911 lead in and only 12 episodes?  If this isn't intended to be the final.seasom it likely will be anyway.

I think it's because of all the post production they have to do with this show, trying to push for a March airdate is not going to be possible and they don't want the show running into summer, as ratings will be down. So, holding it for Fall because of the strikes is the better bet. And I don't disagree; as much as waiting another 11 months is going to suck, it's better for them to not try to rush and throw something together just to get it out. We already see from this show what happens when they HAVE the time to write and film episodes.

Which is why I suspect the OG 9-1-1, now on ABC, will be pushed to fall as well.

This sounds like it's going to messy final season and an ignominious exit. Not looking forward to how Grace is written out.

She’s one of the best parts of the show. But if negotiations weren’t working for her and if she felt disrespected, I can understand her decision. No doubt the ripples from the strikes are making salary negotiations a likely problem for actors

Welp.  I am out.  I came for a new ensemble and when the show veered into All Rob all the time territory, I hung in because of Grace and Judd.  I just hope they don't kill the character off.  I wouldn't be surprised because they absolutely love heaping trauma after trauma on their cast.

Where did you find out it was Grace that was leaving?  Just curious, I'd like to read the article. Thanks!

ETA: Dummy me! I just realized I could click deadline.com in the Deadline post shown above. Totally non techie here!

Were Grace and Judd in the car under water after an accident at the season finale? Or did that get resolved and I don't remember?

I can't imagine the show without Grace and Judd-- both of them, happily married and alive.

Also, I love how Deadline goes out of its way to say Lowe was willing to continue-- like we all had better not blame Mr. Lowe for this! Of course, they don't say what his terms ouwld have been.

At the same time, they are implying that Sierra McClain wasn't being reasonable, when they say she was offered money. I ask: how much? Was it or was it not comparable to what the other actors, for example the dudes and white folk, were offered? We don't know, and Deadline ain't saying.

That was a season 2 thing. Got resolved and that was when they discovered Grace was pregnant.

Grace and Judd together and individually were marvelous characters and personally they're the reason I watched and enjoyed the show. So, since the damn thing is ending shortly anyway, I'm done, have deleted the show from my DVR list & will find something else to watch

I've been considering losing the cable and streaming only. Presently I can carry 6+ streaming services for less than the current cable bill. And I'm heartily sick of finding  worthwhile things to watch only to have them cancelled after 10 episodes  or, as in the case of Yellowstone, watch them fall apart  due to overstretched creators, or salary , or ego clashes & writers or stars quitting.

I've decided my future is books. Audible & regular. And streaming past shows and the new ones who make it past at least 5  seasons before I check 'em out.

So thanks "Lone Star" - your destruction of Grace & Judd was the straw that ended my tv habit😜
