Yep, I liked The Force Awakens a great deal too.  Trey and Matt are being hypocritical here by knocking The Force Awakens love of nostalgia in an episode where they completely spoof a scene from the original Star Wars with the trolls reporting in like the X-wing pilots do before the attack on the Death Star (though I liked that scene a lot).

I still get a kick out of how big a character Gerald has become this season and I like the troll storyline.  Love the reactions too to Cartman having a girlfriend.

Well Randy didn't say TFA was bad. Just that it wasn't as good as everyone thought. That might be true.

I loved the Garrison storyline this week. When it didn't come up last week I was afraid they weren't going to get into Grab-Gate. But this made up for it. Everything with him was great.  (And a big laugh at Butters saying "bouncy ball?" as he got dragged out.)

By contrast, the kids' story didn't offer much. All that really changed is that Heidi and Cartman are intervening rather than sitting it out. But we don't even know what effect that has yet.

And then the trolls were somewhere in the middle. I think it's clear at this point that "member berry wine" won't be the out, as they had several opportunities to go that way and didn't. But they have separated Gerald from the others as he's literally just doing it for comedy while they seemed to have personal demons.

Gotta love the collective shock from both sides upon seeing Cartman and Heidi. The one girl passing out was the cherry on top. I think that beats Bebe puking at the assembly.

ETA: Does the Danes' song sound like "Ching chong ching," or am I reading too deeply into things?

Am I the only one slightly annoyed that Sheila has been watered down to the "unsuspecting wife" trope?  The Kyle's mom from several seasons back wouldn't have just sat aside and done nothing while girls were being trolled and her own son was joining the "Wieners Out" movement.  Maybe finding out Gerald is the troll will be just the thing to get her bitch back on.

Theory: What if this whole season is one huge troll? Like...this won't have satisfying ending, or the last episode would be another Terrence & Phillip adventure instead. I doubt they'd actually do it, but with this being the 20th season, and the whole theme with trolling, I honestly think anything could happen.

The Presidential election is only two weeks away and Garrison is still hiding out in Colorado.  Everyone freaks out when an entire city in Colorado gets hacked. Gerald faces ruin if his complete history of internet activity becomes public. Memberberries are afraid for their lives and Cartman starts to realize the future is in jeopardy.

You know, I played The Stick of Truth and while I enjoyed the references and the characters, there was very little of the clever parodic plots and dialog that really make the show work. Some bits like the alien ship were funny but for the most part it was bathroom humor and a little sarcasm.

That clip of the new gameplay seems very similar. Wonderful attention to detail, and pausing the combat for a car coming through is really funny. But I need to feel like it's worth going through the whole thing and I'm just not sure I will.

Randy using all sorts of things to destroy the Memberberry was kind of unsettling. It was like if that shoe from Who Framed Roger Rabbit was unable to die. So does this mean they can't be digested? Well, they ARE water soluble, so maybe they can. That whole scene with them in the tiny car just made me laugh.

"Member which way we're going?"
"I member!"

Emoji analysis was pretty damn clever. I don't even use emojis, so I'd be invisible. Maybe It's because I'm older than 18?

The Gerald/Schwaggins dynamic is interesting. Gerald is the bully, while Schwaggins was the bullied and clings to the one friend he thought he made.

Of COURSE Cartman's whole thing stems from hating the new Ghostbusters movie. Really loved Cartman's memory montage. Lot of shots on the toilet. Also, of course he used a flashlight to see Heidi's vagina.

R.I.P MLKKK. Seriously, what the fuck was up with his mouth?

The episode felt all over the place, though I did like it. Gerald goes too far, Cartman shows his familiar colors, and the member berries go on a road trip. For sentient fruit, they're kinda cute.

ETA: So Gerald is basically Randy in the episode where they jerked it in the hot tub. Is that an apt parallel?

If Gerald winds up getting away with everything at the end of this season, I WILL BE PISSED.

LOL at Fort Collins getting hacked and that one troll getting what he deserved.

Why am I not surprised that Cartman's relationship with Heidi is in jeopardy because he bashed the new Ghostbusters online? And he lies to her about it. Well, that's at least more like the Cartman we know.

So we will have to wait until the week of the election to see the next episode. Please God, let this whole fucking nightmare be over by then.

Is it just me or did anyone else notice that the vagina buildings on Cartman's Mars had balls on them?

That's a sentence I never thought I'd type, but here we are.

ETA: This was the last episode before the election. Shit, the power is literally in our hands.

Really good episode.  I'm enjoying this storyline.

"The election.  Who gives a shit about the election."  Preach it, Gerald!  The stuff with him and DS was funny.

I'm glad the old Cartman is coming out now.

The memberberries in the car was pretty damn funny.

With all the talk of Mr. Garrison making a big speech and Kyle's role, I can't help but wonder if the solution to all of this goes back to the beginning of Season 19 and one of the biggest unresolved threads from Season 19--the only person who can get rid of the member berries is Kyle, who can only do so by making a big speech.  it's the fact that Kyle has not stood up and made a speech that has allowed the Member Berries to become powerful.

I kinda wish that it was Randy who was the troll instead of Gerald. I'm sure there's going to be a reason for it, but Gerald is just so bleh and this seems kind of out of character for him. Randy, on the other hand, is usually the guy who goes 150% in on everything he does and this Member Berries plot seems like kind of a waste of his character.

So Member Berries bleed??

My guess is that the reason Gerald acts like this is an outlet for him to deal with his pent up frustration about being henpecked by Sheila. I mean, his screensaver is a photoshopped picture of her with a dick in her mouth. That speaks volumes.

is it too much to hope that the Turd Sandwich is planning to turn him in to the Danes in exchange for them shutting down their tracking website?

That was interesting. I think it opened up more doors than it closed, but in a way that didn't simply feel like stalling.

I am surprised though that this is the last episode before the election. The angle with releasing emails is a whole new direction to go in, but they aren't going to. Then again I never thought Trump's appeal was nostalgia. I liken it more to the Emperor's New Clothes.

I would love this.

Kyle telling Cartman the details about TrollTracker and Cartman immediately lying to his girlfriend was classic them.

Loved the Member Berries this week, they had me rolling. *rimshot*

I'm not surprised Gerald is the troll over Randy, the former has shown his own assholishness and obsessive behavior before (Sexual Harassment Panda & wanting to be a dolphin come to mind).

Yeah, Randy may be stupid and insensitive, but he doesn't strike me as the type to go trolling people on the internet for kicks.  He just uses it for porn.

I laughed at the bathroom scene and the way Cartman walks over and gets the Lysol and casually sprays it while talking.

A little respect please. That's President Elect Turd Sandwich.

I used to have a little stuffed Kyle, Kenny, Stan, and Cartman, and a stuffed Timmy in a wheelchair, but they got ruined in a flood we had.  I still have a motion lamp that has Cartman on his Big Wheel with "RESPECT MY AUTHORITY" on it.  I also have a talking beer stein that says Cartman stuff, a Mr. Hat Puppet, and a bunch of keychains - the ones released within the first season or two.  I have the whole set that was released at that time:  Ike, Kyle, Stan, Kenny, Cartman, Terrence, Phillip, Chef, Mr. Garrison, Wendy, Officer Barbrady, and there might be one or two more.  I had them hanging on two South Park lanyards.  I also have the original South Park PlayStation game, and Chef's Love Shack.  The Love Shack game is fun, but the other game gave me motion sickness, so rarely played it.  I think it's about time to put everything up on eBay.  I have it all in storage - kind-of pointless if someone else could be enjoying it.

Those member berries are catchy and funny.  Damn you JJ Abrams!!

I am wondering if the election next week will be the end of this story in the next few weeks.  Are they waiting for the election to be over and the actual outcome to decide how this ends?  I can't imagine they can make episodes that quick to respond to it, I would then they have to have something in mind no matter if the real giant douche or turd sandwhich wins

They almost always reference it the next night. Usually it's just a line or two and a change of who stands where, not influencing the main plot much. This time it could, but all the odds say it's pretty safe to start animating President Elect Turd Sandwich.

The closest they've done to a full-on results-driven plot was Trapper Keeper in 2000, but that didn't come out until a week later. (And for all the brilliant moments in this show's history, I think "Oh great, Flora's undecided!" may be the biggest laugh I've ever had.

Press release for "The Very First Gentleman." I'm thinking that the guys are banking on Hillary Turd Sandwich winning, though I could totally see them breaking from real life and having Garrison win despite the results. And I'm still banking on a scene where Garrison finds Patrick Duffy in his shower. And Patrick Duffy would still be attached to Scuzzlebutt.

ETA: Also "calling" Gerald and Liane becoming a couple by the start of next season.

Apparently the episode was originally about Bill Clinton visiting the school. Now it's...this.

Shit, "The Force Awakens Was Good" ended up winning. And Hillary is piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised. What's gonna happen in the next 3 episodes? I'm hyped.

I know they had to change this at the last second, but I bet Bill Clinton's Gentleman's Club was in it from the beginning. That was so wrong, but so great. "Pressing Pickle" is gonna go viral, I'm sure of it.

The contents of the briefcases were...a rickroll. Never change, South Park.

I needed a laugh after last night.

Yesssss, totally knew Hillary sold out Gerald and the trolls to the Danes! And getting rickrollled? And it's all part of some plot to get revenge on men for stealing the presidency? Bring it, I say! Gerald has it coming!

LMAO at Bill Clinton and Cosby and their "gentlemen club". So wrong yet so funny.

The member berries are turning everyone into their own personal pod people. Scary...

Note Heidi and Cartman's Beauty and the Beast shirts!

Not cheered up. At least the guys got the tone right. And now I feel like Caitlyn Jenner vomited member berries all over me. And they're. Not. Taking.

Trolls getting Rick-Rolled was funny. So was Butters pressing pickle.

"Daddy called you a pussy".  I wasn't expecting Ike to say that :D

Zombie Randy was creepy and funny.  Can't wait to see how Stan handles his Member Berried family.

The Danish and Hilary are so not done with the Trolls.  Wonder what else Stone and Parker can do to them?

I'm fairly certain that Stone and Parker are also smart enough to know what several of the people who watch their show voted for Trump.  Do you think they're willing to reference that?

Another amusing bit: the number of locks on Butters' door. Even with Gerald going full douchebag, the Stotches still have to be the worst parents in South Park.

Most definitely. Perhaps their next serialized season can have the Stotches finally get what's coming to them.

Really fun episode.  I always enjoy South Park's post-election episode.  This one was different as those episodes were self-contained but I'm still enjoying the season long story arc.

Glad Cartman is returning to his old self.

Still never would have guessed that Gerald would be the main character this season.

The best part for me was that Butters was standing in front of his window "wiener out" despite his grounded status.

Loved Bill Clinton's "She is PIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSESSSSED!"  Died laughing.

Losing Charlotte made Butters snap to the point where his parents' abuse cannot cow him.  Love it!

I liked trying to picture how it would have been different had Hillary won.

  • Garrison gives a concession speech saying "Thank God".
  • Bill Clinton comes to South Park as the "First Gentleman" to get the boys in line since women are in power now.
  • Turd Sandwich's excuse to enlist Gerald is not "rigged election" but rather "national security".

I think those worked better this way, although Mr. Garrison as the President probably isn't a corner they intended to get themselves into.  The only part I don't see is Randy's involvement, since him meeting Caitlyn Jenner and getting zombified wouldn't make sense.
