Did you know no one cares?

I swear to God Joe and Mika fancy themselves as Paul and Linda McCartney. Has Mika been spotted on stage playing a tambourine?

Yes, actually, yes she has. Last year. When she wasn't dancing on banquettes or tables.

Aaaand it's Mueller Friday, bigly. Will we see them guesting on any shows tonight, this weekend? No, they have a Friday night gig. Priorities, LMAO. The biggest news story of the decade, possibly, and they will be MIA.

When is the last time they showed up on any other shows? I'm not being snarky; I just don't recall seeing him on another show in years. I'm not sure I've ever seen her on another show.

And the mention of "dancing on banquettes or tables" reminds me of the old (and not very nice) saying/song: "Get off the table, Mabel. The dollar's for the beer."

I think his last guest appearance was when they were jockeying to take over Meet The Press and Joey blustered and bloviated all over Chuck Todd (?). She deigned to make a couple appearances when they were interviewed and did not participate beyond that aspect. All of which contrasts mightily with how often the MSNBC stable makes cross-appearances, even beyond their comfort zone. For example, very early this morning Natasha Bertrand and Ari Melber were on MJ and I saw both of them again about an hour ago, 12 hours after MJ.

LMAO, "Get off the table, Mabel. The dollar's for the beer."

I think the non-participation goes one way.  What host on what show would need or want her as a guest?  What could she possibly have to offer to any given discussion?  Just about a 100% guarantee that when the producers are scrambling to find guests for their show, Mika's name never crosses their minds for a nanosecond.

I agree. Today, Nicolle Wallace was on when the Mueller news broke at 5, stayed with Chuck Todd for MTP, and they both stayed for Ari Melber’s show. Then Nicolle showed up again on the 11th Hour. In these situations, Nicolle (and the other evening/night time hosts who show up for breaking news) provide smart analysis as well as insights gleaned from their sources or their experiences

Mika is more often than not inarticulate. Joe bloviates - he is incapable of analysis. He only offers opinion. There is no circumstance under which I could see any of the prime time hosts having them on during breaking news. They add nothing to their own show let alone someone else’s.

Same way that Joy Reid is ubiquitous across the network, Ari and Ali frequently guest on other shows, and even blubbering Chris Matthews pops up now and again.  LOD was recently on MJ, which was pretty remarkable in that he had just ended his show 7 hours earlier that night, but dollars to donuts it would never occur to him that Mika and/or Joe could or should reciprocate.

Willie is probably legitimately underused on MSNBC in that he has more to offer, but then he's got his side gig on Sunday Today.

I worked in TV news a couple of decades ago (on a much lower level) and I learned that's how you tell the REAL reporters from the phonies. If journalism is in your blood, you don't go home when a big story breaks. You stay in the newsroom, even if it's not your shift or your story, because there's no place on earth you'd rather be and nothing else that makes you feel more alive. You can see it in Ari Melber and Nicole Wallace. You can see it in Steve Kornacki on election nights. You can see it in Rachel Maddow, who pulled herself out of a trout stream when the news about the Mueller report broke on Friday and did her show Friday night from a makeshift studio in Tennessee. Joe and Mika? They always look like they have one foot out the door at 8:59 every morning.

It's a line from Mean Girls.  The queen meanie, Regina, slaps down one of her sycophants:

They don't even bother showing up to the studios in NY or Washington on a regular basis. I doubt they care what is happening.

I have to give Joe and Mika credit, because they have managed to create their perfect job. I agree, they aren't reporters, they are creatures who live for the beltway/Manhattan cocktail party circuit. They get paid to hobnob with people like Huffington, Noonan, Barnicle and Brokaw and even as they ditch the studio, they get to keep that kind of access in their private lives. They wouldn't be able to do it without the show because they would be totally irrelevant.

They can talk about the virtues of flyover country all they want, but they are the definition of east coast elites.

Holy cow! Joe is working on Sunday! He’s on right now with Katy Tur! I thought it was an ad when I turned to MSNBC, but nope. Joe, live and in person! (Requires exclamation points, I believe!)

I did laugh out loud when Joe likened the president to Mr. Magoo (meaning bumbling from one thing to another yet always coming out ok).  Yikes I thought he was through for the afternoon but Reverend Al brought him back.

Overtime!

I have to say that I mostly agree with his take on the Trump/Russia situation. He said that you look at the entire thing from the perspective that Trump never expected to win and was constantly seeking to enrich himself with Russia’s help, all of the actions, lies, and sneaking around make total sense.

Mika has the opposite of a spray tan this morning. She's done something that makes it appear as if all the blood has been drained from her body. Her skin is nearly the same non-color as her hair. Janet Napolitano could be described as having a porcelain complexion and she is positively ruddy compared to Mika.

Other than the Tower in Moscow, why did he need Russia's help to enrich himself? He was the nominee, that was the key to it.  They could have been conspiring since the primaries started. Everyone is focused on the general as the starting point.  I agree Trump didn't think Russia's tricks would work, but they were funnelling info, and talking to them about it.   The fact that they promised to get rid of sanctions at the RNC convention was conspiracy.  Even if Trump was just making empty promises.

Why do women carry their phones out like that?  What emergency text are you expecting?   Coupon from Bed Bath & Beyond?  Notice that your KYV shaminar is cancelled due to no ticket sales?

I saw Joe for a couple seconds yesterday and it looked like he had colored his eyebrows brown. I don't know if it's that I hadn't seen him for a while and forgot what he looks like (I should be so lucky), or is he coloring his hair?  I thought it was going gray.

I don't understand why he insists on wearing it in that David Byrne-esque pompadour. He looks like an idiot.

It's near the retail stretch of M St. in Georgetown. My guess is that they were shopping. Although they might be popping in to visit one of their inside the beltway buddies. (For example, George Will used to live just off that part of M.)

Well after a brisk stroll around Georgetown (and I agree, gorgeous area) he jumped into the Bunker Machine and was on live with Chris Matthews.  And it was amusing to watch someone that can actually out talk Matthews as Joe just mowed right over him.  There were also many commercials announcing Amy Klobuchar being on MJ today.  They seem to be getting a lot of new promos lately.

It was a meeting of the mouths. I

couldn't decide which one was more annoying.

Neither wanted to let the other one talk. Both kept bringing up unrelated movie references (which the other one didn't understand) and the  whole damn segment was awful. I usually watch Erin Burnett at 7 but will turn into Hardball if she's got a guest I would otherwise mute.

Right? He engages every time, and then spends weeks saying how nothing he says matters to them. It’s like Mika saying the facelift Tweet doesn’t bother her... two years later as she is rereleasing a book to talk about the facelift Tweet.

Because if the President fires back, which he might, it is a ton of free publicity.

Interesting news about a regular Morning Joe guest, Michael Schmidt. he is now dating Nicolle Wallace. This might explain why Mika gave her a strange look when she was on the show recently.

Thanks, oakville. This was my favorite line from the article:

"On Thursday, Trump tweaked his former cheerleaders Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski."

A link within the link brought me here.  Looks like some folks like them fightin' words:

Quote

[Rachel Maddow] hasn’t engaged her critics, but fellow MSNBC personality Joe Scarborough took them on in an angry monologue on Wednesday.

He wondered aloud what journalists were supposed to do for the past two years as stories piled up about Trump and associates misleading Americans about contacts to Russians. He said he wasn’t just unhappy about political critics, but also some in the media who are “hand-wringing” about the amount of coverage.

He criticized unnamed people who had “sold their soul to a personality cult.”

And he promised that MSNBC wouldn’t abandon the story.

“We’re not going to divert our eyes,” he said. “Damn the torpedoes. Full steam ahead. Follow the story where it leads us.”

Well, if true, Mika and Nicolle now have something in common - divorcing their husbands for another man.

I haven’t heard that about her. There is no evidence that this is what happened in Nicolle’s case.

You do have a point, the Page Six article does say “friends say that she has been separated for more than a year”. So it is possible that she and Michael Schmidt did start dating after her marriage was effectively over. But it is also just as possible that the relationship with MS caused the marital rift.
