milkyaqua June 6, 2014 Share June 6, 2014 (edited) From TVLine's Matt's Inside Line: I know it’s early yet, but do you have any scoop on next season of The Good Wife? –Suzanne‘Member the flirty intern who popped her head into Peter’s office toward the end of the season? Well, where’s there’s smoke, there may be fire. “It all comes down to [actor] availability, but yes,” series cocreator Robert King says he aims to pick up that thread in the fall as the show explores the idea of a power couple’s public marriage taking very private detours. “How does that work? Can it work? Is it truly possible that you can have an agreement with your spouse that the sexual relationship is over and the love has to be put on hold, even though we’re going to use each other for what power we can give each other?” King poses. “Chris [Noth] and Jules [Margulies] seem very willing to take us there, so we’re up for it.” Edited June 6, 2014 by milkyaqua Link to comment

milkyaqua June 11, 2014 Author Share June 11, 2014 Casting stuff I usually put in the "Good Wife in the Media" thread since technically it's not a spoiler. From TVLine's Ask Ausiello: Question: Is it too early for intel on Season 6 of The Good Wife? –BaronAusiello: Focus on the pocket watch swinging before your eyes. Now think back to the Season 5 finale and remember how Cary caught a glimpse of Deena Lampard — wife of Neil Gross (the CEO of Florrick/Agos’ biggest client) — on the should’ve-been-shut-off teleconference link from the Lockhart-Gardner conference room. “They have Mrs. Chumhum, and we’re screwed,” fretted Cary. Well, look for that story arc to rear its perilous head when the CBS drama returns in the fall. Megan Ketch, who plays Deena, “is very good, and we’re getting her back early next year,” promises executive producer Robert King. “So, you’re going to find [the fight for Chumhum's business] is a continuing plot line. What Lucky Strike was to Mad Men, Chumhum is to us.” And indeed, King adds, the fallout from Deena’s flirtation with Lockhart-Gardner could potentially mess with Florrick-Agos’ future — and even its desire to bring Diane into the fold. milkyaqua June 18, 2014 Author Share June 18, 2014 (edited) More about Alicia/Peter from TVLine's Ask Ausiello: Question: Any scoop on what is in store for Alicia and Peter on The Good Wife? I love them together. —KikiAusiello: Julianna Margulies is of the opinion that their marriage will continue to be all business and very little pleasure. “”There’s an incredible respect they have for each other, for their minds, and politically, and as lawyers,” she shares. “But I think in the last scene of ‘The Last Call,’ when Alicia closes her eyes, [it’s similar] to when she slaps [Peter's] face in the pilot. It was like a slap for her to wake up. I feel like her closing her eyes was her way of saying, ‘I have wasted my time with this guy, and I’m not going to let that happen again.’ I don’t know how you repair the damage that’s done without it constantly rearing its ugly head. I don’t think you can.” BONUS SCOOP: Elsbeth Tascioni is (probably, most likely) returning! “Right now they are talking to me about coming back for another two episodes,” the character’s Emmy-winning portrayer, Carrie Preston, reports. “I would love to go back. I would love to be there full-time. If it were up to me, I would be.” Chris Noth from an interview with Associated Press: AP: The success of "The Good Wife" seems to grow. Now you're the governor. What's next?Noth: I think they're looking at the relationship between my character and Julianna Margulies' (character). It's exploring what a political marriage might be where it lost its — where the power of the politics takes over the intimacy of the marriage. They're using each other in a way to maybe take advantage of each other, yet the marriage itself, while not quite dead, hmmm, doesn't conform to a traditional marriage ... and exploring what that means. That's all I know. I know the show pretty much resurrected itself this year with everything. I never know what they're going to do, to tell you the truth. I think I'm the governor but I never did have an inauguration. I'm pretty sure I'm the governor. The more politics, the better. That's my love of that part. I love when they get into that. milkyaqua July 17, 2014 Author Share July 17, 2014 From TVLine's Ask Ausiello: Question: I’ll take anything on Season 6 of The Good Wife! —LaurenAusiello: TV’s most stunningly chic ensemble will get a decidedly tattered infusion when a character by the name of Gunter arrives in Episode 2 — strutting around Florrick Agos HQ in a state of undress, sporting a dirty t-shirt and (!) regularly bathing himself in the bathroom sink. Yep, the man (who’s somewhere between 34 and 50) is homeless — and seeing how he’s comfortable enough to mutter complaints to management when the hot water is off, he’s also got potential to become a recurring character. Let’s hope somehow, some way, he crosses paths with David Lee, yes? Link to comment

milkyaqua September 2, 2014 Author Share September 2, 2014 (edited) From TVLine, Ask Ausiello: Question: Any news on Kalinda’s storyline for Season 6 of The Good Wife? —EveAusiello: Archie Panjabi’s alter-ego will have “a stronger through-line” in Season 6, promises creator Robert King, “and after you’ve seen the first episode, I think you’ll understand why.” King is reluctant to spoil too many details, but he admits that the show’s writing staff felt that in Season 5, “we’d lost some of the fun people who we’d built around Kalinda.” To remedy that, King says we’ll be seeing return appearances by Jill Flint (dropping by from NBC’s The Night Shift as enigmatic FBI agent Lana Delaney) and Kelli Giddish (on loan from Law & Order: SVU as Kalinda’s married paramour Sophia Russo). BONUS SCOOP: Seeing how Season 6 picks up right after the events of last May’s finale, Kalinda and Cary will still be dealing with the “bombshell” that went off in their relationship (Cary overhearing Kalinda admit to Diane that she uses him for intel, and the occasional couple’s subsequent — and pretty uncomfortable — sex scene.) “The bottom line is, none of that is forgotten,” teases King. Now the question becomes how/if they’ll recover. Edited September 2, 2014 by milkyaqua Link to comment

milkyaqua September 10, 2014 Author Share September 10, 2014 From TV Guide's Mega Buzz: Is Diane actually going to join Florrick/Agos on The Good Wife? — BrendaAlicia certainly wants her to, but she and Cary may not see eye-to-eye on that topic. milkyaqua September 11, 2014 Author Share September 11, 2014 From TV Line's Ask Ausiello: Question: Any info on how The Good Wife will reintroduce Matthew Goode’s character on the upcoming season? —Lucas Ausiello: Ohhh, Finn Polmar looms large in the Sept. 21 season opener — and in a way that could very well decide if he and Alicia will ever share the kind of closeness she had with Will. Seriously, you’re about to see just how pitbull-like this guy can be.Question: Any scoop on what is to come for Alicia and Peter’s marriage on The Good Wife? –Kiki Ausiello: Eli’s determination to have Alicia run for state’s attorney — and which side of that debate Peter is ultimately on — stands to play at least a small part in the married couple’s future. (A certain someone who doesn’t wear panties also threatens to be a fly in the ointment.)Question: Anything Diane-related for The Good Wife? —Amy Ausiello: With her move to Florrick-Agos’ decidedly downscale digs, Diane might face a few moments of asking herself “What the hell is this place?” previews creator Robert King – especially now that the show has cast Danny Hock (The Knick) to guest-star as a homeless man who frequently uses the fledgling firm’s bathroom “as a poor man’s shower.” (If you’ll allow a moment of self-congratulation, it should be noted that I broke news of that highly unexpected character in this very column back in July.) Nevertheless, Emmy nominee Christine Baranski’s alter-ego will ultimately find herself excited by the question of whether she can help a firm grow from startup to powerhouse — “and whether she can do it better and possibly with more of her ideals in tact,” King adds. alexvillage September 23, 2014 Share September 23, 2014 I am not happy with the Cary story dragging through many episodes. I like the pace of the show as it is, one big case, resolved by the end of the episode. IMO this is the strength of the writing. When shows start going through length stories full of drama, to me this is a sign that the writing is getting tired. I hope I am wrong 1 Link to comment
milkyaqua September 23, 2014 Author Share September 23, 2014 From TVLine's Ask Ausiello: Question: Any details on Connie Nielsen’s recurring gig on The Good Wife?Ausiello: Don’t look for Nielsen’s “smart, beautiful attorney with far-reaching Cook County connections” — a role first reported by TVLine last month — to be Alicia’s new martini buddy. “We’re actually exploring this line between friend and rival,” says executive producer Robert King. “If it were another circumstance, you might say, ‘This would be my best friend in the world, and I would love talking to her,’ but in fact, because of the situation, you’re finding yourself maybe not hating her, but hating the situation.” Could Nielsen’s character somehow stand in opposition to Alicia’s possible run for State’s Attorney? “We’re leaving it vague,” chimes in fellow EP Michelle King. Sounds like a definite maybe (or maybe not) to us! BONUS SCOOP: Robert King adds that the show’s writing staff has read up on its Illinois election rules — and learned that “Saint Alicia” won’t need to quit Florrick-Agos if/when she throws her hat in the ring for her husband’s old job. In other words, Season 6’s “pivot to politics” doesn’t mean Alicia’s case load will be “left in the rear-view mirror,” he promises. Link to comment
milkyaqua September 24, 2014 Author Share September 24, 2014 From TV Guide's Mega Buzz: I still can't believe Cary is in jail on The Good Wife! Will everyone remain loyal to him while he's behind bars? — CaseyAlthough Alicia may have fought hard for Cary in the season premiere, the jury is still out on whether she will continue to do so. "What is especially appetizing about this is how it impacts Alicia," co-creator and executive producer Michelle King tells us. "How does she show her loyalty to him and yet still protect her own interests? After all, she's got a firm to run, she's the wife of the governor and there is a question mark as to whether she should pursue becoming state's attorney." Link to comment

The potentially recurring character, who will turn up in Episode 9, is described as “one part Hollywood, two parts political” — and is known as the king of negative campaigning. milkyaqua October 29, 2014 Author Share October 29, 2014 (edited) From TV Line, Ask Ausiello: Question: Please tell me Cary isn’t going back to jail on The Good Wife. I’m not a fan of prolonged prison storylines, even though I’m sure the Kings would no doubt find a way to make it compelling. —Kim Ausiello: I would tell you that Cary isn’t headed back to the pokey if I could. But I can’t. Partly because I don’t actually know, and also because the show is currently casting a role that leads me to believe a long jail sentence may indeed be in his future. The character is Tim, and he’s a “prison consultant” who is hired to give Cary a day-long session on how to survive in prison (including physical and psychological pointers). Tim’s an ex-convict so he would know. Edited October 29, 2014 by milkyaqua Link to comment
milkyaqua November 12, 2014 Author Share November 12, 2014 (edited) From TV Line's Ask Ausiello: Question: Thanks for the Good Wife scoop on Alicia’s mock debate [posted in the Media Thread], but do you have anything on the actual debate? —KenAusiello: It sounds like Florrick Vs. Prady will escalate the old saying “if you can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen” to new (and possibly hilarious) heights. Slated as Episode 12 of the current sixth season — and penned by showrunners Robert and Michelle King (always an exciting sign, yes?) — the hour will find Alicia and David Hyde Pierce’s Frank starting (or perhaps winding down) their war of words in a hotel kitchen. There, a pair of intelligent, articulate, African-American busboys named Tim and Errol will interject their own views into the scrimmage. The episode will also introduce us to the possibly recurring character of Franny, the “smart, sophisticated” chief of staff for the mayor of Chicago, who’s described as being anywhere from 35 to 60 and wielding a set of “brass knuckles” (psychological, we hope, not literal) with which she intimidates and bullies those who get in her way. She’ll be “doing damage control for the absent mayor” — while opening a window to an aspect of Chicago’s political scene which The Good Wife has rarely visited. Bonus scoop: We’re not 100 percent certain he’ll be moderating, but producers are also casting the guest role of Jackson, a smart but self-righteous “journalist-turned-blogger” who harasses Alicia “about a personal matter” during the televised debate. (Quick! Somebody cover Grace’s eyes and ears!) Heard a rumor that Matthew Goode is going to be on the Christmas episode of Downton Abbey. Is he staying on for Season 6 — and, if so — does that mean he’s leaving The Good Wife?! Say it ain’t so! —EvelynAusiello: While it’s true Goode will appear in Downton‘s annual Xmas episode — aka the Season 5 finale — it’s my understanding that, as of now, it was just a one-off guest stint. But I hear Abbey producers are interested in having him back for Season 6 in some capacity. His Good Wife gig is in first position, which, loosely translated, means if The Good Wife picks up his contract option for Season 7, he pretty much has to return to The Good Wife. (BTW, buzz that he’s playing a love interest for Lady Mary on Downton is apparently true. Girlfriend’s dance card overfloweth!) Edited November 12, 2014 by milkyaqua Link to comment
milkyaqua January 23, 2015 Author Share January 23, 2015 From TV Line's Matt's Inside Line: Is Jill Flint returning to The Good Wife later this season? Lana is so connected to the Bishop/Kalinda story arc. –EveAlthough Flint at this time is not (yet?) scheduled for another visit, she recognizes that Lana could (should?) figure into Archie Panjabi’s exit storyline. “There are a lot of fans who hope that that would happen – which makes me happy,” she shared at TCA, where she was promoting Season 2 of NBC’s The Night Shift – the source of occasional scheduling conflicts. “For a couple of seasons, [The Good Wife has] tried to give me an extensive arc with Archie, but unfortunately… we’re like ships in the night. We’ve never been able to fully realize it,” she noted. For her most recent, fall arc, “What they tried to do is take, like, eight episodes and cram it into three. So when Archie and I are together, we always try to infuse as much of the relationship as possible. Everything between the two characters is always between the lines.” Link to comment

Unhappy with Diane and Cary's work on his defamation case, the businessman goes behind their back to get Alicia's help. But when she refuses, Sweeney goes rogue. Recognizing Alicia is vulnerable in her campaign for State's Attorney, Sweeney threatens to expose an extremely unsavory piece of information about her to the press. What does Sweeney know? milkyaqua March 3, 2015 Author Share March 3, 2015 From TVLine's Ask Ausiello: Question: Will we be seeing more of Chris Noth on The Good Wife this season? —MarilynAusiello: I think Noth’s airtime will increase significantly this spring when, as rumor has it, the show revisits a Peter-centric storyline chad that’s been dangling for more than a year. (Read between the puns, people!)Question: Do you have any scoop on The Good Wife? —ElizabethAusiello: Remember how the Jan. 11 episode ended with an outraged Alicia confronting Diane and Cary about hiring David Lee, without consulting her first? That won’t be the last of the bad vibes percolating at Florrick-Agos-Lockhart in the run-up to Election Day. “There is tension within the firm because Alicia has put everyone in an awkward position by being there and yet not there,” teases showrunner Michelle King. “They’re going to question what her motives are, because she may have other interests she needs to serve, not just the firm’s. That’s going to play out in the second half of the season.” Link to comment
Tetraneutron March 3, 2015 Share March 3, 2015 Does anyone think the tension between Diane/Cary and Alicia is kind of contrived? When Diane was appointed judge that would have also required her to break with a firm she was name partner of (plus she was heavily pressured into trashing Will in public, something Alicia hasn't done) but no one was acting like she betrayed anyone. But thank God they're revisiting (it sounds like) the Peter-stole-the-election subplot. I thought it was so stupid they acted like it would just die with Will. Thanks for these. Link to comment

What gives? —BonnieAusiello: EP Robert King confirms that Diggs’ legal eagle Dean is still employed at Florrick-Agos-Lockhart, although the actor’s starring role on TNT’s Murder in the First has made the character a scarce presence. “It always comes down to their schedules,” laments King. “But we love Taye Diggs.” (In other Good Wife MIA matters, here’s the skinny on where Robyn’s been.)Question: I was happy to read that Gary Cole is headed back to The Good Wife as Diane’s hubby. Any scoop? —TarikAusiello: He returns this Sunday for the first of several episodes, during which the couple will “go on a surprising tangent,” teases Christine Baranski. “We go out hunting together, and I meet up with a Republican billionaire [played by Oliver Platt].” The actress adds that the ideologically opposed duo will once again run up against some conflict. “It’s so great to see that two people can be married and disagree politically,” she says, “and have a political discourse that doesn’t derail the relationship.” Link to comment
milkyaqua March 13, 2015 Author Share March 13, 2015 From TV Line's Matt's Inside Line: Anything on Kalinda’s departure on The Good Wife? –Ricardo?Only that before Archie Panjabi’s character exits stage left, one very loose, dangling thread will be dealt with — the fact that Cary was freed from the clink on evidence forged by his lover. “Certainly, that was a big moment, and it’s going to come back around,” affirms Matt Czuchry, who adds that it’s an especially “complicated thing” seeing as Kalinda didn’t intended for the fudged email to be submitted as evidence. What’s more, if it the hack does get exposed, it’d have significant implications for, at the very least, both her and him. “Oftentimes what happens with a character leaving the show is it’s a ripple effect for all the characters,” Czuchry says, “so that could happen here.” Link to comment

GHScorpiosRule March 16, 2015 Share March 16, 2015 From TV Line: The Good Wife First Look: Diane's Got a Gun! (Plus: Lily Rabe Is Back) But Diane always had a gun! I remember from the first season, when she was in bed reading or something, or maybe holding her little doggie, there was some noise, and she opened her night drawer and pulled out a gun. Or maybe it was her doggie that scared her, and she put the gun back after he or she came into her room and jumped onto her bed with her. Link to comment
Black Knight March 17, 2015 Share March 17, 2015 Diane had just gotten the gun - she was worried about someone being released from jail who might go after her. I think she ended up returning the gun to Kalinda though. 1 Link to comment
Tetraneutron March 26, 2015 Share March 26, 2015 (edited) http://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/1077647/good-wife-spoilers-straight-from-the-paleyfest-red-carpet Spoilers from Paleyfest This is an old article, some of this stuff already happened. These haven't yet: -Kings confirm Kalinda's not dying, as it wouldn't have any dramatic impact since we all know AP is leaving at the end of the season. My vote is still on fleeing the country. - None of her lovers come back, due to conflicts. Whether or not you think the Kings are lying about that, I don't actually mind, since besides Cary, when have any of her lovers been developed beyond, "sexually voracious, emotionally unavailable"? (Plus her ex-husband. But that never happened. It was all a bad dream). -Two more episodes of RD. I hope he becomes a client, for something that has nothing to do with abortion, and that's it. I don't see what else they can do with him. Unless him being a client causes issues for Alicia in some way and she demands the firm drop him? But that's stupid. I don't see how that would work. -More Diane and Kalinda. Which would be a cool way to develop both characters. - Redmayne returns. I figured, because why waste Ed Asner on a nothing role. My guess is Crystal taped her meeting with him and the footage threatens to get out, branding Alicia a bigot. Or Alicia must compromise her ethics to get money from him. Also, Downton is only doing one more season. So that's easy to work around, Matthew-Goode-availabilitywise. He's still said he doesn't want to schlepp his kids back and forth across the Atlantic, but it means he now has far fewer "scheduling conflicts". My guess is he wants to leave this show anyway, as his career's doing really well and so why waste his time on such a thankless role, even if he is earning American Network TV money, but who knows. Ohmo March 30, 2015 Share March 30, 2015 I don't have any new spoilers, but I hate using spoiler tags and I want to talk about what I think is going to happen. Alicia won the election, but I'm now wondering if she will actually take office. We keep hearing that there are six months before she actually does. I agree with those who've said that Geneva Pine is investigating Kalinda, not Bishop. I think that Geneva will discover what Kalinda did, and that Kalinda's "evidence" is what freed Cary. Geneva will go to Alicia before she is sworn in and tell her that she has enough to prosecute Kalinda and re-file charges against Cary. Given the recent publicity over the e-mail hack, it will look very bad if the new SA doesn't file charges against her former investigator who manufactured evidence and her former law partner who was freed due to manyfactured evidence. Since Alicia knows that Geneva has bent a few ethics by sleeping with a witness in one of her trials, Geneva proposes a "solution." Alicia warns Kalinda that she's about to be prosecuted, allowing Kalinda to leave town, and Geneva doesn't go after Cary again. In exchange, Alicia must resign as SA before she's sworn in. Geneva tells Alicia that she's sure that Peter can provide Alicia with political cover as she resigns for "personal reasons," and both she and Geneva can continue to practice law because they could "multually destroy" each other professionally. Next season, Alicia returns to the firm. We keep hearing that Geneva Pine in investigating---not Matan or even a generic "the current SA." Geneva keeps getting mentioned specifically, along with the length of time before Alicia's actually in office. Matt C. did mention in an article that the whole Kalinda/Cary/manufactured e-mail scenario was coming back into play. With Archie's departure, could all of it be connected? Like Peter, Alicia has a political scandal of her own, but it's private instead of public. Like Peter, Alicia also loses the SA's office, but only the audience knows the real reason why. I just have this nagging thought (maybe it's a hope) that Alicia never actually takes office. Link to comment
milkyaqua March 30, 2015 Author Share March 30, 2015 (edited) I agree that your scenario is probably what will happen regarding Kalinda's exit and Alicia not taking office. I was surprised Alicia won but I still have always thought no way she'd actually become the SA. The Kings have said that the email stuff with Kalinda would definitely come back up. They've also said the ballot box snafu involving Peter's Governor race would also rear its head at some point. Based on next week's promo, it's obvious Alicia's and more of the firms emails are goint to come to light including Kalinda's. This belongs in a speculation thread so maybe some kind person with power will make one for this season? Edited March 30, 2015 by milkyaqua Link to comment
milkyaqua April 1, 2015 Author Share April 1, 2015 From TV Line's Ask Ausiello: Question: First and foremost, I love Matthew Goode on The Good Wife. But I also rather enjoyed him in Downton Abbey‘s Christmas special. Could you shed light on the potential of him being on one or both shows? —JessicaAusiello: He will almost certainly be in the final season of Abbey. His future on The Good Wife beyond Season 6 is less certain, although exec producer Michelle King recently hinted to us that Goode might end up juggling the two. “There’s always a dance with scheduling,” she said, “so [we can always] dance around Downton Abbey.”Question: Has it been confirmed that The Good Wife is ending at the conclusion of Season 7? —JasonAusiello: The Kings always viewed Wife as a seven-season saga, but the ultimate decision isn’t up to them, as Robert King reminds us. “It’s a big question mark, because it’s a question that’s beyond us,” he says. “It’s… CBS.” He notes that viewers can probably sense that “we’re counting down” via the episode titles, but adds, “That doesn’t mean an end is an end.” Link to comment
Black Knight April 2, 2015 Share April 2, 2015 *snorts* If Robert King thinks there's even the slightest chance of CBS giving this show an eighth season, he's delusional. The only reason it'll get a seventh season is because everyone knows about the seven-year plan the Kings have and there's just one year left, so CBS won't take a PR hit for canceling the show since it can say that the Kings got to finish their story. 2 Link to comment
Tetraneutron April 2, 2015 Share April 2, 2015 I don't think it's so far-fetched. Critically adored (a rarity for CBS), gets tons of Emmys (ditto) has a wealthy, demographically-desirable viewership. TV shows get renewed for those reasons all the time. Besides, renewing a TV show long past its sell-by date as it gets worse and worse and more and more of the cast and writers leave ,and squeezing every last drop out of it even though the last few seasons suck? Not exactly unheard of for TV networks. I mean this is the same network that wanted to continue HIMYM into a 10th season, when even the 9th was a huge stretch creatively and killed all the goodwill of the previous 8. Link to comment
Irlandesa April 3, 2015 Share April 3, 2015 I mean this is the same network that wanted to continue HIMYM into a 10th season, when even the 9th was a huge stretch creatively and killed all the goodwill of the previous 8. But HIMYM had very good ratings. It made CBS money. The only reason The Good Wife might likely be renewed is because of prestige. A 7th season isn't even guaranteed at this point. Link to comment
