I really think that's all it is. Trust me, I get where you're coming from. But I also know a lot of people watch TV solely for their favorite characters/couples and everything else becomes irrelevant, you know?

I do get it, I think. lol. I watch for my faves too but there used to be a sort of respectable base of writing (and believe me my standards are very low for soaps).

I'm reaching my limit with what I see as the show catering to stupidity ALL THE TIME. I am sure it's going in one direction and it goes the opposite and I just don't get it. It defies logic.

Phyllis was violated show realized after the fact so we erase Jack's experience (and what viewers saw). Sappy dialogue and staged love scenes are "hot" so we erase decades of history to sell ONE contrived affair in a storyline that is eating the show alive. EB is an asshole so the show presents a psychopath as hero.

I just can't take it any more. Snarking isn't even fun.

But I can't quit following and hoping. Even while I've quit actively watching. I think it's the Mal Young addition. I have hope because he comes from a better tradition of soap writing in the UK. And his stuff will slowly start to impact so stupidly I hope.

Billy Munster is going to spend time with his kids today.  He tells Cane no one can say he falls short as a dad.  Ohh-kaaay…..

Drinki reports to Prick that Vic struck out with Phyllis and that Abby is on board, and surely Dick will be too.

Dylan is super-pissed off at Adam and Chelz because he is now complicit in the hacked video footage from the prison.  He leaves, and they fret and Adam decides to take Pricktor’s deal.

Tori doesn’t think she can leave GC, she has responsibilities.  Travis wants them to go on a six month sail, including her kids.

Billy Munster shows up at Grey Gardens with Katie and Johnny. For some reason Cane is lounging around on the floor.  He encourages the kids to help him paint the staircase, and oddly, Billy is amused.

Jack figures he knows what is troubling Phyllis.  Marco, her bond of revenge with Billy, Ian kidnapping her and Prick rescuing her.  She agrees that she is overwhelmed by every aspect of her life.  He says she deserves better, but she says he deserves better than her.  She says she has lost herself and she doesn’t know who she is or what she needs.  She is being pulled in a thousand different directions and needs to find her own way.  Jack realizes she is asking for a break from their marriage.  Jack wants to know if he should move out of the hosue and she says she doesn’t want him to be uprooted because of her mistakes.  Whoops!  But he says she has done nothing wrong.

Adam goes to visit Prick, where he bumps into Drinki who wants his help with the appeal.  He doesn’t say no to her. To Prick he says:  you win.  Prick is kind of vague about how committed he is to exonerating Adam, and tells him to get over it because he has run out of options.  They squabble, and Adam leaves in frustration, but bumps into Vic and tells her he has no choice but to help Prick.  Vic tells Prick he can count on her, but she is not sure if she can count on him.  She wants to know what will happen when he gets released.  He makes it clear that he will take over at Newman and tells her she needs more experience cause she really bungled the whole oil rig fiasco.  She leaves dejected, or maybe offended, but compliant.

Drinki wants to know if Dylan supports her in reconciling with Prick.  Dylan says the only mistake she made is trying to convince herself that she stopped loving Prick! He says he knew Prick would reclaim his throne and the family would support him again.  Really, Dylan?  Dylan gets a call and rushes off; it is a tip on Adam’s case, he tells Chelz.

Vic sees Billy and the kids at Crimson Lights.  He talks about how much he loves being a dad and doesn’t want to miss a thing.  Another look of dejection for Vic.

Adam and Chelz are back at the penthouse and Adam is ranting about Prick.  Chelz thinks the call Dylan got was maybe the lead with evidence to clear Adam.

Now Vic is back at Harry’s Bar where Travis has found the boat he wants to buy and says he has a buyer for the bar.  She confirms that Prick is going to take over Newman.  And that it would be a great experience for her kids to go on the six month sail. But, she says Billy lives for his kids, so she cannot go.  They kiss.  Travis says he loves her but he cannot stay with her and watch what will happen to her life.  He basically dumps her.  Without pool table sex.

Back to Grey Gardens and more Cane, Billy and the kids talking about, but not doing any, painting.

Jack and Phyllis are at the GCAC where Phyllis goes upstairs with her overnight bag.  He bumps into Drinki and tells her things are def not all right.  They sit at the bar drinking sparkling water.  He tells her that Phyllis has moved out temporarily.  He says there has not been a fight or an affair!  He says she is lost.  Jack says he has heard about Drinki and Prick reconciling and then he points out that Prick having Marco rape Phyllis pretty much ruined/changed her life.  Okay, he didn’t say rape, he said, put a stranger in her bed. How euphemistic.  Jack angrily says:  I will never forgive Prick for what he has done to us, never.

Phyllis in the GCAC  guestroom.  She checks her phone and then throws it across the room and breaks down.

Vic shows up at Grey Gardens.  She joins in the painting fun.

Dylan is wearing gloves and opening a locker, where I guess he finds the real JOURNAL pages.  Meanwhile a “nurse” walks into Prick’s room and he says: what the hell are you doing here?

Previews: Sharon to Dylan, What did Kevin say to you? Please forget what he said!  Nat to her computer: Who’s your little buddy Prick, and then she seems to find something and says: Boom.  Chelz to Adam, something about being cleared, and Adams says:  Prick has screwed me over again!

Yes, Buttbiscuit, you live for your kids. Now take this Father of the Year mug and drink a bag of pierced dicks.

You've got plenty of options, Adam, and none of them are submitting to the maggot farm named Victor Newman. If only you weren't such an inept dumbfuck wasting brain cells on conversing with your equally stupid wife.

Victoria, crawling up your father's fetid cornhole only leads to one thing: losing something you love. Get a clue, available free on Ebuy with the purchase of any TWO cosmetics brands, void where prohibited. Or turn into your mother. I honestly don't care.

Phyllis, when you find yourself in a deep hole, keep digging. In fact, here's a shovel. Maybe you'll reach your dignity, compassion for your husband, and sense of personal responsibility. I'm betting you find the earth's core or the ruins of the lost city of Atlantis first, but then I'm a pessimist.

Dylan, who could have forseen that your inexperience in the realm of law enforcement combined with a citizenry with the collective IQ of a bottlecap would lead to such a clusterfuck? A. Everyone B. All people C. Everybody D. All of the above and even Summer.

Jack, I implore you to forgive Victor. Give him a Buttbiscuit bouquet as a peace offering. Buttbiscuit Bouquets are now on sale at STD Floral and feature a lovely sprig of poison oak intermingled with corpse flower, hemlock, foxglove, skunk cabbage and daffodils. STD Floral: When a kick in the nuts is too obvious, say it with flowers!

This has been another installment of Free Advice You Didn't Ask For.

I wonder if Victoria will be the one to go to Jill and ask if she can join her at Chancellor Industries as like COO or something. The two women can run that business together (and then CI can be on screen when Jill is gone) but then Jill could exploit this and have her oversee Brash & Sassy forcing Villy to interact. That is my speculation.

It just seemed that Victoria snapped back to reality about her father. Jill and Travis both reminded her but she was in Nikki's delusional cloud for a moment. After that talk where he basically told her she lacked experience, she knew same old shit was going to happen. Victoria didn't even look upset. She almost looked relieved to be away from the bullshit.

Phyllis not telling Jack is not a surprise. No one thought she would. She did what many suspected she would do -- tell Jack she needed space. Now she is away from her husband and free to work that hotel bed over with Billy. Except maybe not. I think Billy is fed up with everyone at this point. Today seemed liked he needed his kids to relax him and then we had two Villy family scenes. The new little Katie is super cute.

Travis is gone. He clearly will be back at some point but I think its safe to say he is gone for a few weeks. So now we will get Villy back on more friendly terms which I am sure will make Phyllis extra jealous. Also Bethany the waitress is also coming back as the actress filmed yesterday. My guess this is the start of the affair coming out. So depending on where everyone is this can have even bigger blow back.

I will say that for the first time I really felt Phyllis was torn. This episode felt a bit different even if it still was the same old shit.

WTF?  They are going to DIY the mansion?!  (This is worse than Sharon doing her own feather dusting.)  On what do these people spend their money?  It was bad enough that they sent ONE guy to do a job that clearly takes a much larger crew, but Cane? and the kids? oh, jeebus, Vicboria?! AYFKM?

I'm going to take this as the beginning of a logical story start that addresses the behavior of Phyl re: Billy for the last few months.  Maybe Jack and Phyl will wind up with a competent therapist (long overdue) and it will be a story about their pain, suffering and adjustment and Billy can go back to being in a coma (he could trip on a paint can left on the stairs).  Of course, this will only work if Pratt has no hand in presenting the psychiatric professional as a two dimensional, cardboard cutout who is too stupid to live as he has done with all the other (medical, judicial and police) professionals.

I grew up on As the World Turns where Nancy and Chris Hughes sat around the kitchen table and talked about everybody's problems and listened to/advised Bob and John and Lisa on all their problems.  Pretty much every soap had the go-to Voice-of-reason/Oracle to exposit the characters' feelings and actions.  Mrs. C was kind of the Y&R 'vor/o'-but she's gone and ain't nobody taking her place.  I'd like to see a competent shrink/doctor (that doesn't have worse emotional baggage than the patients) be ensconced in GC as the hub of action for these fuck-ups.  Dr. Neville would have been a good choice-he seems able to disassociate himself.

Regarding painting, even I know that a dark color need to have PRIMER applied before a lighter paint!  Show can't even get that right!  Plus, I'm not a parent and even I know you shouldn't put tiny toddlers together with REAL paint.  They will eat it, spill it, or inhale the fumes.  Or has PrattHole inhaled too damn many fumes?

I am at least a little encouraged that something actually happened today.  Chloe was revealed!  Surprise!  Right?  Okay, maybe not.  But here’s the thing, you might flash back to another time when Pricktor used a mentally ill woman to further his nefarious agenda.  Cause that is what gets confirmed today.  And she seems just as dangerous and out of control as Pattycakes was.

Chelz might be getting ahead of herself, but she has a bottle of champagne to celebrate with Adam.  Mikey shows up and hears that Adam made a deal with Pricktor.  He seems okay with it and realizes it is the way to keep Adam out of jail even though Adam is now bound to Prick again.  He leaves and Chelz and Adam have sex on the sofa.

Sharon invites Dylan for a picnic but he says he needs to talk to Kevin about someone lying, and Sharon—I am totally taking my meds—McAvoy freaks out.

Mariah tries to reassure Sharon that everything is okay, and questions her again about whether she is on her meds.

Later, Sharon talks to Sully about how she and Dylan and Faith will stay together even if the truth comes out.  And she sounds like she is off her meds.

Kevin and Nat are trying to figure out who the mystery woman is.  Still.  Dylan shows up and asks for Kevin’s help on the anonymous call Dylan received.  Dylan tells Mikey that there is no new evidence, the envelope was empty.

Chloe, in a bad wig, confronts Pricktor about why he said that Adam is not a murderer in court.  Prick says that Adam did not murder Constance, that she died of natural causes.  Chloe says he is a murderous sac that deserves to rot for killing Delia.  Chloe says they had a deal.  Prick says he gave her the tools she needed.  And she says then he ruined it by saying Adam is not a murderer. Chloe says that now that Prick double-crossed her, she is going to stay in GC. YAY!  Now Pricktor will be revealed to all as the evil, manipulative, mercenary that he truly is.  Oh wait, they already know that, and have forgiven him, are giving him a blowjob and are testifying on his behalf to unleash him on an unsuspecting world once again.  Prick tells Chloe she cannot stay in town, cause everyone thinks she is still in a mental hospital.  Chloe says she is not crazy, and that running down Adam was a rational response and Prick more than anyone understands making others pay.  Prick says, yes, that is why they agreed to work together.  He tells her again to leave town.  Prick says if they frame Adam for murder they would be committing a crime, and what would happen to Chloe’s daughter.  Prick tries to encourage Chloe to go back to her daughter and live her life.  He says he took good care of her daughter while she was in the hospital.   Chloes says:  Little Bella will never know Delia and that is because of Adam.  Prick says his testimony did not clear Adam and that thanks to Chloe the evidence against him is overwhelming.  He tells her not to ruin everything and that she should go live her life with Bella.  Mikey walks in.

Dylan comes home and mentions Kevin and Sharon freaks out.  She smooths it over.  Dylan tells Sharon he is a good cop, cause he can tell when someone is lying to him. And she gets the buggy eyes.  Sharon has a picnic in the living room with Faith and Dylan, and Faith says she sees Sage every day, and so does mommy.  Faith was talking about a picture.

Mariah freaks out because she thinks that Kevin has spilled to Natalie.  But he hasn’t.  They make up.  Meanwhile Nat makes the earth shattering discovery that the mystery woman is wearing a wig.

Adam gets Mikey’s message and realizes that Prick has screwed him over again.

Mikey doesn’t recognize his former sister-in-law. Mikey confronts Prick about the missing JOURNAL pages.  He says that Adam told him about the deal Prick made with him to clear his name if he works with Prick.  Chloe is listening.  Prick says he has no idea what Mikey is talking about.  Mikey asks why he sent Dylan on a wild goose chase.  Why did he set Adam up again?  Prick reveals nothing and Mikey leaves.  Prick asks Chloe: so where are the pages?  Chloe confirms she has the pages and she will let Adam go to jail.  Prick says he gave her back her daughter, and he could just as easily take her away.  She needs to pick between vengeance or a future with her daughter.  Chloe says she doesn’t have to choose, because  she is free and Prick is in prison.  And she has the JOURNAL pages and a book of matches.  And then there will be no proof of their conspiracy.  She goes to leave and he tells her she is playing a very dangerous game.

Mikey goes to the penthouse to tell them that Prick revealed nothing about the missing JOURNAL pages.  Mikey wants Adam to take a plea deal and Adam agrees.

Previews:  Cane and Lily making out.  Ashley asks Stitch to tell her what is going on with him.  Neil tells Jack that Hillary is not pretending, she is not improving.

That's exactly what it is. Especially on soaps. And it's this way because of the above complaints of twisted writing to push certain characters/actors over others. Viewers get to the point that they resent everyone but their favorite character/couple. Airtime and story are always so unbalanced.

Take Jack and PB for example. Yeah, he's getting the shaft in the writer's room in that Billy/Phyllis affair. But he's sure benefitting from being first on the call sheet with devon/BJ and neil/KSJ. Devon and hilary barely shared scenes for months so that jack could have story with her. Devon is getting the shaft to push Hijack much like jack is shafted to push Philly. At least jack was on. Devon wasn't even written into many of those episode where Hijack were bonding. And when he was, he sat their as hilary flirted with Jack in his face while he had NO LINES. Then we have Neil. It was his idea to start that foundation and he and jack are partners. But you wouldn't know it. Jack is the only one working on it and the only one to get story out of it. Jack is first and final say on all things. Neil defers to him. Abbots name is even first on the title.

The agenda giveth and the agenda taketh away. At least it does for Jack.

Bryton James was not getting story long before his character's wife was put in Peter Bergman's orbit.  And Neil's foundation idea was about story for Jack; that was clear from the first time it was mentioned/conceived (i.e. Neil telling Jack). Pratt does not have any interest in writing about the Winters except for Hilary and, to a point, Neil. This has been true long before Jack.

Jack didn't "take" anything from Neil/Devon stories. They had none to speak of, not under Pratt anyways. Hevon was a brief thing with Passanante/Altman but even then they were not remotely front burner unless Neil was involved.

With Philly, JT's Billy was shoved in and Jack (long time front burner character) shoved out -- one replaced the other. Completely different situation.

I think one can say that the Billy character has always gotten plenty feature long before JT was cast as well.  Billy, much to my chagrin, has been leading story for a long time. The entire show revolved around him and vikki for years. And since PB is just as high in airtime and episide counts as he's always been, I don't see how he's suffering on that score. Now Jack's writing is weak and pathetic. But then it's always been as far as I  can remember. He's been stepped on, outsmarted, cheated on, made a fool of time and time again. I recognize that this stuff with Philly is not new for jack even as I hate it.

As for the excuses listed, if you can't see the similarities in what is happening with the agendas for Philly vs Phack and Hijack versus Hevon, then I am not going to try to convince you.

Hillary is in the hospital with Devon, and Neville arrives, and they both lash out at him for Hillary’s predicament.

Jack is at the GCAC with Neil and tells him he wants to get rid of Hillary.  He says she crossed the line with him.  Neil tells Jack that Hillary really is sick and may not survive.  Jack feels bad but Neil says he’d love to get rid of Hillary but it would probably be bad PR.

Ash and Stitch talk about his concerns about Max, and Ash tells him he should be talking to Abby like this.  He scratches his head and then his butt, cause he doesn’t get her point.

Meanwhile Abby is at the GCAC pool lounge telling Sharon and Dylan how shitty things are in her marriage and Dylan encourages her to confide in Stitch—just like he and Sharon, they should have no secrets.  Stitch shows up.  Dylan tells Stitch that Abby really wants to talk to him, while Sharon advises Abby that some things are best left unsaid.

Cane lures Lily to the guest room at the GCAC and they have sex.  Yawn.  I think they did, but maybe they didn’t cause I half-watched it with the mute button on.

Neville wants to treat Hillary to help her but she shrieks at him to get out.  Ash walks in and gets Neville to leave with her and she confronts him and wants to know what is really going on with Hillary.  He cannot explain it, and Ash wonders if he is lying to her.  He swears that he wants to save Hillary and he saw actual improvement.  She gets him to admit that he rushed the study to get FDA approval.  She is pissed because she covered his ass before, and now they are no better off.

Devon tries to be supportive to Hillary but she is pushing him away.

The Rayburns and the McAvoys are yukking it up over drinks and Sharon mentions Sully’s name and everyone acts like she dropped a stinkbomb on the table.  I guess as long as Max is sick no one can talk about their children.  Sharon steps in it some more and Dylan takes her home.

Jack and Ash go into Hillary’s room and Jack apologizes  to her and she said he just believed Neville’s lies.  Devon says he is getting a new doc for Hillary and advises Ash to keep her distance from Neville.

Lily and Cane are told by Neil that they should go to the hospital to support Devon but Lily hates Hillary too much to consider that plus she figures Devon is faking it, but Neil tells her he is not.

Ash finds Neville at the GCAC bar.  He confirms that he screwed up but still wants to help Hillary but Ash tells him that Hil thinks Neville tried to kill her.  Neville is upset  but he is more upset that he has lost Ash’s respect.  She wants him to keep treating Hillary because she thinks he is the only that can save her.

Lily and Cane reminisce about her cancer seven years ago.

Jack tells Devon that Hillary is strong, and  he would like to do whatever he can to help.  Devon tells him to go take care of his own wife.  So Jack goes to the GCAC and is about to knock on Phyllis’ door, but sends her a text instead.

Sharon and Dylan are back home and she is singing his praises.  She asks him to dance and while they are dancing she keeps looking at Sage’s photo on the fireplace.  Hey Sharon, why not go to the bedroom where presumably there is no pic of Sage?  Plus, don’t people just walk into Sharon’s house willy nilly all the time?  They do it on the sofa.

Hillary tells Devon she is glad he is with her.

Abby and Stitch don’t talk about anything and both seem relieved.

Previews:  Chloe to a pic of Delia: It’s a big big day for us Dee.  Dylan to Prick, while Drinki looks on: If you have any desire to save your son, now is the time.  Mikey tells Kev and Nat that Adam is taking a plea, and there is a shot of Adam getting in an elevator with a guard.

After today’s Canadian I am convinced that I am stupid for watching this show.  And recapping.  On that latter point, absence alert!  I will be unable to recap for the rest of July and who knows if I will want to when I return.  It depends what happens.  If Prick gets his comeuppance once again, then maybe I will dive back in.  Till then, here is what happened today in Canadian Genoa City.

_______

The stupidest thing that happened today was Adam accepting a plea bargain through an Alford Plea which netted him a 30-year prison sentence.  I am not an American lawyer IRL and I am nonetheless pretty sure that is not what is intended with the Alford plea.   I assume he could have fared better going to trial.  However, Cricket tells Paul and Mikey that this deal is the best possible scenario for him, and much better than life in prison!

What led to this was a bunch of Dylan and Chelz running around town trying to prove him innocent.  Chelz begs Dylan to help, and thus she has to tell him about the Pricktor deal and the real pages from the JOURNAL. Dylan agrees to help her and goes to see Pricktor who also had Stepford Drinki by his side.  In front of Drinki he tells her son that he knew nothing about the JOURNAL pages, nor the deal with Adam.  Stepford Drinki backs him up and says she most certainly believes Prick.  Prick loves Adam, he would do anything to help him.  Dylan then goes to recruit Kevin, who reveals he knew all about the JOURNAL pages, plus about the mystery woman etc., and Dylan is annoyed and angry to find out that Kevin, who works for the police, not only has kept him in the dark but also hacked the prison security system.  Two seconds later he is okay with it.  When Dylan tells Chelz he has no info to help Adam, she decides to go to the hospital and threaten Pricktor with a scalpel.  That is how the episode ends, and with Adam behind bars.

Kevin and Nat were flirty and kissing and stuff, and it just kind of makes me ill so I paid little attention to their scenes.  I don’t think I missed much, but at the end they say they are going out of town to investigate further.  And Mariah is jealous.  I am not sure where they are going but it has to do with the bus station locker and they need to stay overnight.  Nat sees this as an opportunity to get him away from Mariah.  WHY ISN'T SHOW GOING TO NEWFOUNDLAND???

Speaking of Mariah, she and Sharon have more of the same conversation we have watched for weeks if not months now.  But Sharon now realizes it would be way better if Mariah didn’t live in her house, because every time she looks at Mariah she realizes what a horrible person she is plus she might accidentally kill her next time she beans her.  She not so subtly suggests  that Mariah should move out; Mariah calls Kevin, and he says she can stay with him.

Stepford Drinki spends the episode at Pricktor’s bedside.   She is dressed in bright red and has awful makeup.  She is moving like she has that broom stick up her butt, and she is acting like she is on valium.  But the important thing is that she is madly in love with Pricktor, she regrets ever doubting him, she says he has rescued so many of his family, their family has been through so much, they cannot handle much more, and she is certain that Prick will win his appeal and come home soon.  They will rebuild their lives again together.  He plays along and looks thrilled at her support—and no doubt he is, as it will get him out of jail (WTF?) and then when he is free he can tell her how he set up her whole kidnapping just so he could rescue her and get released.  The only true things he says to her today is:  I will do everything I can to get out of this hellhole.

Chloe is staying at a really crappy motel.  One of those with the ugly bedspread that probably has semen stains on it.  She is looking at a pic of Delia in her Wizard Of Oz witch costume, from the night she died.  And she is holding the pages from the JOURNAL and is about to burn them up but says:  maybe not today.  She puts the pages in the nightstand drawer right beside the Book of Mormon.  Later she shows up outside the courtroom  dressed in a different wig and sucking a lollipop and cackling with glee to herself whilst Chelz fights off the nasty reporters.

Previews:  Vic, at Newman, to Dummer:  so you are with us against Puka, and she says, yeah, Dad told me to keep my ears open and he was right.  Paul walks into Pricktor’s room and Chelz hides the scalpel behind her back.

THIRTY YEARS is better than LIFE IN PRISON? What is a life sentence in the U.S.? In Canada is't 25 years.

And is show fucking kidding? Victor got a measly 10 years in that weird prison that he basically ran and where he got to lay a woman for the heinous shit he pulled but Adam gets a THIRTY YEAR sentence after sparing the state a trial for poisoning a dying woman?

Yup. I'm so there. I can't watch it. I can really only read your recaps. I skim others. It's pure trash and yes it is insulting beyond belief. If Mal Young hadn't taken over I'd be completely done. But I want to see where he goes with it. Still, I'm not sure I can hang on either.

Somebody needs to take the laptop away from Pratt. This shit is simply unbearable. Nikki makes me ill with her glassy-eyed thralldom to a reanimated shit golem who once wished her dead. Chelsea isn't going to carve Victor's ass up like a dessicated holiday turkey, so why is show wasting my time? The legal professionals in GC couldn't locate a clue if it was tattooed on the inside of their eyelids. If Victor loved Adam, he'd admit his own role in the framing, but I notice he's keeping his puckered liver lips sealed tight. And again the ancient fartbag fails to warn anyone that he's turned another unstable person loose on society.

These stories blow.

In America, a life sentence is just that: forever. Whether you go in at 18 or 81, you're there for the rest of your natural life.

however, anything over fifteen years isn't much better. And 30 years?! He'd be better off going to trial. I've never hear of plea bargains that offer anything more than five to ten years.

Wow, bannana! And kudos to you! You were actually able to type these deathless details onto your screen.

Perhaps you recall that I never apply real-world logic to Show [probably 'cause I'm a bit short-changed in that department myself], nor do I follow plot so well. That said, and however, and but... Victor would do anything to save Adam? You're adding this, even spoken by a woman whose neural crenellations are shot to hell? Um, were we supposed to recall yesterday's thrilling interchange with Chloe where His Fecal Majesty resorted to threats and utterance regarding those pages? Does that constitute "doing anything"? Why do I bother?

Obviously the Nikki stuff is a giant set-up, Pratt-style. Or it should be.

And obviously we're slavering in anticipation of whatever last-minute discovery our little hackerz will discover that will alter the course of Wisconsin judicial history. Or maybe it's just a bit of gingivitis.

And perhaps Sharon's missing son, Underwearboy [who has a Mormon background, 'cause I'm an idiot and I retain this kind of factoid] will receive the secret Mormon Underwear Signal that something unholy has been placed near the Book of Moroni and use Chloe's Zippo to set fire to her wigs, and possibly her person. And perhaps Sharon will have a momentary eclaircissement, or maybe just an eclair.

Me, I just liked the props. The Zippo and the ever-so-conveniently left on a cart in the hall scalpel did it for me. Now, with that scalpel Chelsea would be a character I could enjoy. That's more than I can say for this episode.

the case that started this (North Carolina v. Alford) wound up with Alford being sentenced to 30 years for 2nd degree murder instead of 1st degree murder.  I think the MWT finally availed themselves of the internet (this was on Wikipedia) and thought an Alford Plea automatically gets you 30 years.  = idiots =  I doubt the prosecutor offered a plea bargain-Alford pleas are made when the defendant and his lawyer (Adam has a lawyer, right?) see the prosecutor has a slam dunk with the jury and will take the death penalty off the table (WI has the death penalty, right?) to end the trial.  I agree that Adam is an idiot if he thinks/knows there are other journal pages that could exonerate him and he still pleads guilty.  He needs a real [criminal law] lawyer.

Here's a UO for you.

Yesterday's CDN was a better show. Not wonderful, but better. Nikki's scenes with Paul re His Crapulence's innate goodness and la famiglia lining up for him were not completely played straight--and I'm no whiz with inference. You could smell the scepticism there. And Summer pulled the switcheroo on Luca Lucardo, beginning that turnaround, so that was good, too. And, Mariah and Sharon actually had a good scene--as if someone totally new were writing it. Sharon, with no stary eyes, delivered a good speech about Mariah's place in their family--not a stupid, paranoid speech for a change. And Adam showed some smarts for a change, not playing into the old bugger's routine when they met in jail.

I'm leaving out Daisy Dukes here. For a reason. Although the scalpel was still in play.

So reading recaps Jack shares his innermost feelings about Phyllis to Billy, admits he regrets not supporting her with respect to Victor (though who supported Jack I'd like to know), and worries she wants a divorce. Billy in turn tells Jack he should stay away from Phyllis to give her space and then uses this to his advantage and proceeds to go to her suite, demand she pick HIM and they make out

I'm trying to think of a more loathsome human being presented as not a villain in the history of soaps and I can't. What a fucking hateful asshole. And Phyllis a gross pig. She won't give Jack a divorce (though he asks her if this is what she wants) but she sucks face with her brother in law (who is hiding while she's talking to Jack). He tells her he doesn't want to go but he loves her enough to give her the space she needs.

And yet who is it that she can't resist? Yup. Billy.

Watching boycott continues.

  • Love 8

Billy can't get any lower, so I'm over thinking about him as a character, tbh. To me, they've literally made him into a cartoon. He's such an exaggerated version of a cheater at this point. All he does is stand thisclose to Phyllis' face and says generic stalker dialogue. It's beyond being connected to any type of reality. I've seen strangers in real-life cheat with more feelings of remorse and disgust with themselves than this show is presenting.

And Phyllis with her "Will everyone give me space so I can decide who to screw!?" POV is laughable. It's the start of the week, so I expect a new POV by Friday. Although I think it's obvious who she wants to screw and who she doesn't. This has never been a triangle. I don't see a woman in love with two men. I see a woman who doesn't want to deal with her reputation being slammed. And that's just ironic.

  • Love 8

Oh gods, Phyllis. RME. I want to fuck Billy but I want to be Mrs. Jack Abbott and an executive at Jabot and hot shit in GC. What do I do????? "I don't know where home is any more because I was sexually violated. Oh noes. But I'm waaay hot for my brother in law. Woo hoo, baby. I'm broken and violated. Poor meeeeeeeeeee. Why is everyone pressuring meeeeeeeeee? I'm so sad. Oh Billy fuck me."

Someone in the writing room thought this made sense???????? Or thought this wasn't REVOLTING???

I saw pics from this week of Phyllis on the floor of Jack's office weeping yet again. OMG STFU you narcissistic FREAK. Do the writers truly think anyone GIVES A FUCK? She's shagging her brother in law and can't STOP but doesn't have the decency to end her marriage and instead lets her husband constantly tell her how much he loves her while refusing to so much as touch him. Plus she knows Jack is confiding in Billy and that's all really cool with her. This is not a sympathetic character. And she has a history of using sex to get what she wants. So there's that.

The capacity of these writers to destroy characters surprises me. I have to admit it. I'm shocked by this.

The only reason I'm partly not shocked by anything is bc I do think they're also utilizing the classic soap staple of "Let's just show these two characters make out and hope the audience thinks it's hot and forgets everything else."

IMO, the storyline fails bc it isn't that deep. It's not about Billy/Jack, clearly. They refused to show a brotherly bond that would be sad if it was broken when the writers decided to write Billy as a robot. It's not about Phyllis/Jack. All they've done for months is talk about Billy. Where's the relationship to lose? Why would the audience feel anything when they split? It's not even about Phyllis/Billy. The show still hasn't showcased a real connection or bond beyond sex. And, no, a bond of "We both hate Victor" just doesn't work for me.

What can you tease about what's in store for Billy this summer?
Jason: There's a lot going on in this guy's life. It kind of depends on who he's with to a certain extent. He really wants his brother's wife. What can I say, there's no way around it. He's going to be spending time with his kids. He's back in the office, and he's trying to figure out who's the love of his life.

JT's take on what's going on with Billy is telling. From the CBS site.

lol. Yeah. A little Jason slipping in there?

I'd love to hear GT describe Phyllis's state of mind. "Every second Wednesday and on Jewish high holidays Phyllis is consumed with guilt and aches for the stability Jack represents. The remainder of the time she wants to fuck Billy. It's complicated. She's really torn."

Phyllis is still torn over Jack and Billy.

Billy is still a douche who tells Jack to give Phyllis space, and then goes off to the GCAC to stalk her like the fucker he is.

Summer is playing Luca but Luca turns around and confesses to her that he was using her all along which throws Summer off her game. He goes on to tell Summer that while he was originally playing her, he suddenly realized while she was defending him to Vicky that he truly does love her, and he's hoping she'll forgive him. And he doesn't even want a part of Newman Enterprises anymore, that's how real his love is for her.

Victoria is pissed because she learns that Billy sold Brash and Sassy. She goes to Chancellor mansion to confront him and he's just as surprised as she is about this development.

The mansion by the way is still an ugly shade of blue. What happened to the yellow?

Jack learns that Phyllis never used the company jet to go to Montreal. As someone from Montreal, I'm super happy Phyllis never came to my hometown.

Abby and Stench have sex and then she ruins the mood by mentioning that next time, maybe they can not use protection and see what happens. This freaks Stench out and he fakes a meeting at the hospital but is later seen at Crimson Lights drinking coffee.

Previews show Billy punching out Cane in front of Vicky and Cane punching him back. Go Cane!

She did!  Dummer is Dumb.  I found a few minutes to watch today and just wanted to swing by and say that Devon's almost former step mommy's husband is Hillary's new doc!  Where has Dr. Shelby been hiding?

And, Heatlifer and miamama's head's are going to explode because Jack confronted Phyllis about Montreal, she covered and then he went and confided in BILLY! that he doubted her and thought she was having an affair.  And Billy told Jack she would never do that to him.  HAHAHAHA!!!  I don't think the new guy has improved this storyline at all.

JT looks ridiculous with that hair and he is sullen and very unattractive.  I don't remember him being this unappealing on GH, what has happened to him?

thnx Bananna. lol.

Yeah, they can't make Billy worse. They just can't. Nor Phyllis. This is not how real people behave. What they are doing to Jack is horrifically cruel and it is not entertaining. It has nothing to do with them wanting each other. No one wants each other this badly. There has to be an element of getting off on hurting the betrayed person the way they are carrying on. But show won't own it.

I get heavy handed writing on soaps where you show the betrayed person being all trusting and have all this double talk ("we both want the same thing, Billy." "Billy KNOWS Phyllis so well"). But to do that for MONTHS???? And all these moments of Jack confiding in Billy, taking the blame with Phyllis has zero effect on Billy or Phyllis's behaviour? What is the point?

So it doesn't actually upset me any more. It's silly.

  • Love 5

Won't be able to watch until a bit later, but this is what I knew was going to happen. I really didn't want Jack to confide in Billy. Mostly bc it screws with my fantasy of Jack playing with their heads. Welp.

What I don't understand is Billy saying Phyllis would never do that to Jack, though. If Billy wants Phyllis to choose him, Jack would obviously find out. And Billy has already planted seeds in Jack's head about marriage and divorce. So why say that to Jack? What's the purpose? That's odd.

As for JT, I blame the writing and his hair. I get that a lot of people don't like him, and that's fine, but I don't believe any actor could pull this crap off. I just don't.

  • Love 6

I hate JT in this role and I fully agree. NO ACTOR ALIVE COULD MAKE BILLY SYMPATHETIC. It's not possible. The writing is ludicrous.

I don't see why Billy just doesn't trick Jack into finding him and Phyllis. I get he doesn't want to tell Jack because Phyllis made it clear she "needs time" and that would piss her off. But if let's say Jack were to walk in on them. Bethany works at the GCAC -- she could help. It would be freaking easy. Apparently Billy can make Phyllis fall into sex at any time, so he should just arrange to have Jack catch them.

It's stupid. It just drags the story. My sense is they are playing it as Billy protecting Phyllis -- lying FOR HER just as he did about the motorcycle accident. You'd think he might buy a clue that as HOT as they are, she's refusing to end her marriage.

I should probs wait to comment until I watch it, lol, but I don't even see how Billy is protecting Phyllis. Doesn't that make her and him look WORSE once the truth comes out? Like, him saying that makes sense only if he was finally resigned to the fact that she isn't leaving Jack.

yes, right. lol. Although in another recap I read he said "Phyllis would never want to hurt you" to Jack. Which is not the same as saying she is not having an affair.

It's still diabolical because Jack is opening his heart and soul to Billy. It's all about Phyllis and Billy and their needs. The utter and complete lack of concern for Jack (from both of them) is ridiculous.

The only way they could make Philly sympathetic (at least to me) is if the actors and obviously the characters were a lot younger. I mean early twenties. You could understand how being a very young woman married to a much older man would long for some hot young stud. And said hot young stud would get off on being with a sexy, glamorous trophy wife. Of course you would need the circumstances to be A. Not his own brother's wife and B. The wife would have to be an naive socialite, not a scheming pit viper with enough baggage to weigh down a 747.

For sure. Affairs can be written to be absolutely scintillating. And you can sympathize with cheaters. It's been done. But this might be the most unappealing pair of human beings I've ever seen in a "love affair."

They're playing games with Jack, regardless of their "intentions" or "never wanting to hurt him." They, the cheaters, put themselves in power. They decide who they're lying to, what they're going to do next. Jack is just a game piece on their board. He moves when they want him to. He knows what they want him to know and when they want him to know. They're mindfucking him. "No, everything is fine, Jack." "I need space, Jack." "All marriages end in divorce, Jack." "No, I don't have feelings for Billy, Jack." "Phyllis would never hurt you, Jack." It's actually quite sick.

Bravo!!! Very well articulated.

It is sick. But on this show they will never be called out for it. Phyllis will probably have a break down and Jack won't be allowed to feel bad about what he has gone through -- yet again.
