Were they not suspicious about why Oliver and Felicity went off to live in the country? Did she just give birth in the cabin and keep going into the city on her own to do business stuff while leaving Mia at home with Nyssa? I don't understand.

I think it's pretty obvious that Beth had no idea they'd have a season 8 at the time of writing this particular episode and she was still considering ending it at season 7.
