None of them, including Maggie/Glenn, Michonne/Rick, Carol/Zeke or any other couplings here have ever managed to strike a fizzled out, wet spark, IMO. They all seem like neuters, together or apart. Since Kirkman, Gimp, Kang, et al. do not "get" adult passion, arousal or chemistry, I wish they would just stop with the forced pairings. Let them all be celibate. 3 Link to comment

OoohMaggie August 1, 2019 Share August 1, 2019 From AMC, "The Walking Dead is a story that started 10 years ago with one man trying to find his family. That family grew and gradually communities took shape. They fought and survived, thrived and gave birth to a new generation. It is a tale of humankind and there are more stories to tell. It is now Spring, a few months after the end of Season 9, when our group of survivors dared to cross into Whisperer territory during the harsh winter. The collected communities are still dealing with the after effects of Alpha’s horrific display of power, reluctantly respecting the new borderlines being imposed on them, all while organizing themselves into a militia-style fighting force, preparing for a battle that may be unavoidable. But the Whisperers are a threat unlike any they have ever faced. Backed by a massive horde of the dead it is seemingly a fight they cannot win. The question of what to do and the fear it breeds will infect the communities and give rise to paranoia, propaganda, secret agendas, and infighting that will test them as individuals and as a society. The very idea of whether civilization can survive in a world filled with the dead hangs in the balance." Source: AMC 1 Link to comment

I FF frantically over Hardwick who, oddly, looked as though he'd been sucking a cherry popsicle ( I missed the sand and seagulls comments) and then saw the grand preview, which is as you say, except it's not 90 seconds, but 57. "Are you fucking kidding me?" I said out loud in total confusion and irritation. "Where's the preview??" I already forget what they said. At least Carol no longer has that long, gray wig floating around and making her look like some post-apocalyptic Sea Witch. Edited August 13, 2019 by AngelaHunter 2 Link to comment

I nearly snorted up fettuccine when I saw this. It took me a moment to register that you'd tinkered with the image and they weren't introducing some new Whisperers-Furries hybrid group. Because why not at this point? I let the preview special run in the background when I was doing other stuff earlier, and they're apparently under the impression we care way more about Rosita's baby and her "quadrangle" with Saddiq, Gabriel, and Eugene than I think anybody actually does. And Negan's, blech, "redemption arc." I was mostly curious to see if they would be addressing Michonne's impending departure at all after the way they plastered Rick's exit all over everything last season and whether they would acknowledge rumors that Maggie might be returning after Lauren Cohen's other show tanked. That would be an extremely brief yes and then a no, respectively. 1 Link to comment

Well if everyone sends out those positive waves you never know. 🤩 After the last few seasons, where they could barely get two consecutive episodes to be equally enjoyable, I wonder how they are going to fill 90 minutes with enough quality that will entice people to pay cinema prices. You will obviously get the fanatics who will hit the premier, but if they don't manage to absolutely kill it, I can see it being pulled from the cinemas pretty sharpish, which would put the kybosh on any sequel 'The Gimp' had in mind. I really, really do want them to make a great film, it's just that I can't see where the 'great' is going to come from. Unless it's going to be released to Arthouse or specialist theatres, I just can't see the big multiplexes running with it, not unless they can get old 'Dwayne' to make an appearance 😱 1 Link to comment

Gobi September 7, 2019 Share September 7, 2019 I can't see this movie being a success. For a movie version of a TV show to be a success, it has to offer something the TV version cannot. Usually, that means bringing back the original cast from a now cancelled show (think Star Trek). For TWD, most of those characters are dead. The only major characters still alive but off the show are Rick and Maggie. Rick is on board, I don't think Maggie is. One way around this would be to set the movie in the past. This is problematic, as it would mess with the chronology. Offering improved effects and a larger scope would be another draw. Here, numbers come into play. Currently, TWD averages 6 million viewers a week; at its peak, it had 13 million. Using an average ticket price of $10.00, this means that maybe it would earn $60 to $13 million. An effects heavy movie would have a budget of at least $100 million, and the potential numbers just don't justify that. What we are likely to get is the equivalent of two episodes of the show. Who is going to pay to see that when the show itself is still running? Not many people. While Star Trek made the successful transition from TV to movies, most other attempts have failed, either financially, critically, or both. I think that TWD movie will join the failures. 2 Link to comment

nodorothyparker September 14, 2019 Share September 14, 2019 This show's promos always leave me wishing the show was half as well done as they are. I watch them thinking Yes, this looks like a show I want to watch and then I remember what the show generally ends up being. I guess we should be impressed they finally remembered they still had an Oceanside group. Hopefully some better actors have moved into it since last we saw them. It's not like any of us would remember or notice if they subbed in a whole new Oceanside cast. Don't tease me, show, with that "take their fear out on Negan" bit unless you really mean to follow through on it. I'm not interested in round 37 of they remember they're better people than this just in the nick of time to stop themselves from bashing Motormouth's head in and they all learn a valuable lesson about forgiveness. Or remember Rick's legacy. Or something. 6 Link to comment

I don't know who will be the audience for this venture, but I'm not one of them. I agree with all this. Not to mention, these movies have to tie-in to the show. They can't be mostly-separate ventures like the Star Trek after-series movies. You can't produce stand-alone movies - set in the current or future time - about the (I would argue) main character, while the show still lives, but not have any sense of connection to the still on-going series. And, to that end, do they intend to bring Rick G back to TWD, or what will they do to complete the mash-up of series and movies? There has to be a point in the future where what happens with Rick effects the main TWD-verse when it reaches the point of combining - be it a reunion, encountering a 'safe zone' setup (or improved) by RG, or some other manufactured happenstance. Even if they bring AL/Rick back to TWD, after the movies, I don't think it will be enough to bring me back to the show - seeing as how they made it sound that, first, AL was done period. But then, hey, we're making movies. At the moment, I foresee a lot of confusion and misunderstanding, leading to unhappiness and anger of those that have stuck with TWD through everything -- God bless their souls. 4 Link to comment
