calliope1975 January 3, 2016 Share January 3, 2016 I think someone (calliope?) got it right. Not me! :D This blind items seems to be BS and made up. However, in my experience, and this is only my opinion, usually if there are repeated blind items that are clearly about the same person, especially ones about them being difficult to work with, there is usually a grain of truth in there somewhere. 3 Link to comment
quarks January 3, 2016 Share January 3, 2016 MG said that if the Vixen webseries did well, they would explore a liveaction Vixen, which appears to be all that's happening right now - one test episode to see how fans react to the character on screen. If - and I think this is a huge if - Vixen does well in that one guest appearance, then since Megalyn Echikunwoke is young and hot, she could be a potential love interest for any number of characters: Ray, Barry, Captain Cold, Cisco, Sara and yes, Oliver if EBR leaves Arrow. But that's putting the cart so far before the horse that the horse is still sleeping. Or possibly not even born yet. 5 Link to comment
Morrigan2575 January 3, 2016 Share January 3, 2016 It is but, I do think 415 is going to be a soft pilot attempt for Vixen. DC and Berlanti can't seem to help themselves. Spinoffs are like an addiction for these people. LOL 3 Link to comment
Trini January 3, 2016 Share January 3, 2016 (edited) If Vixen/Megalyn does well, I'm hoping it gets TPTB thinking more seriously about a Birds of Prey spin-off. [Heh! jinx!] But I do think it will also depend on how well Legends goes. Edited January 3, 2016 by Trini Link to comment
quarks January 3, 2016 Share January 3, 2016 Oh, I'd agree that this Vixen guest appearance is a soft pilot, and it's possible that Vixen could end up being another mid-season replacement for the CW, or even - if Legends of Tomorrow does ok, but not well enough to justify the expense - a Legends of Tomorrow replacement, since Vixen will presumably be cheaper since it won't feature as many flying characters. Or possibly, Vixen could just pop into all three shows. But all of that is going to depend upon how well fans react to the Vixen guest appearance, and the ratings for Legends of Tomorrow. About all we can say now is that the webseries did well enough to justify paying the actress for a one off appearance, and her schedule was free for at least a few days of filming. 3 Link to comment
kismet January 4, 2016 Share January 4, 2016 I wonder if they will see how Vixen does to perhaps do a more Birds of Prey themed LoT next season. There were the rumours that said the show is going to be anthology, so perhaps they are testing out another character to perhaps bring on for a major part of LoT s2. Perhaps a LoT- BoP edition. My only concern would be that perhaps that means the LL won't die this season of ARROW, which would suck. But if she's off ARROW, will I care if she's dead or alive - I'm not sure. I guess it all depends on how much I get invested in LoT. Right now, it seems to be very intriguing but that is not a guarantee of anything. Link to comment
tv echo January 4, 2016 Share January 4, 2016 I don't think there will be a new spinoff. I think LoT is their placeholder show for new superheroes now (as kismet said above). 1 Link to comment
quarks January 4, 2016 Share January 4, 2016 I think any Birds of Prey is off the table for right now. The soft Birds of Prey pilot on Arrow was followed by a decision to hire Brandon Routh/the Atom and an attempt to launch a vehicle based on him. During development for that, Berlanti had every opportunity to either move Laurel over to Legends of Tomorrow (not done) or hire Rila Fukushima, or hire Jessica De Gouw (who was briefly available). Instead, he went with Hawkgirl, the considerably more expensive CGI intensive flying character. 2 Link to comment
Sakura12 January 4, 2016 Share January 4, 2016 I think if they had any intentions of giving Laurel her own show, she would've moved over to LoT. Instead they twisted everything into a pretzel to bring back a dead character and move her to the spin off. 5 Link to comment
tangerine95 January 4, 2016 Share January 4, 2016 Yeah I don't see BoP happening anytime soon especially with Laurel.I think there's a chance that if Vixen does well on Arrow they give her guest spots on the Flash and LoT. LoT is more likely to make her a regular maybe since they will probably change a lot of their cast in future seasons though imo Sara and Ray will be the permanent ones since they went through all that trouble to get them on the show. wonderwall January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 Sara seems to be having A LOT of fun time travelling :) It's going to be a great balance between her heavier moments like trying to figure out who she really is/her purpose/finding her humanity. I'm really interested in what she's going to do when she goes back in time to change her past. What would she change? Her relationship with Oliver? Not going on the Gambit? Who will be a part of the episode if she wants to change her own past? Will it be Oliver/Laurel/Quentin? Or...? I have so many questions!!! Which is a GREAT thing. 1 Link to comment
Ann Mack January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 (edited) Before the show even premieres you have MG and media outlets already releasing information about a love interest for Sara. That's all well and good but I would really prefer they build the show up and provide some substance to the show and develop the characters before the delve off into hooking the cast up with their significant other. That just turned me off for reasons and because they're not bothering to say who Sara's male counterparts love interest(s) will be. Why do they think their potential audience already cares about who they may hook Sara up with? Didn't mention Hawkgirl cause she's already spoken for. Ann Mack January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 Well, we heard both Snart and Ray would pursue Valentina Vostok when she was cast. I missed that bit of news. But still why do they have to go the way of love interest first instead of building up the story and the characters first (rhetorical)? Link to comment
tarotx January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 That Sara Lance love interest is just the current casting for the episode they are filming now. That's why it's being mentioned. They have 8ish episodes left to film but I actually don't see the Li past a one or 2 episode arc. wonderwall January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 I guess I'm a bit guilty for wanting a little bit of romance in anything I watch :pIf I'm invested in a couple or a few character relationships (which requires me to care about said characters as well), I'm more likely to stick with that show when it goes downhill writing wise. 5 Link to comment
tarotx January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 So Sara is getting a good bye with her sister but not with her dad? Hmmm. I don't know if I should interpret that beyond Canary linking. I always leap a head to see if it could mean anything for Laurel, Lance and even Sara's fate. Sara is getting a lot of the promo& some press even though the premiere is going to be Rip and Hawks centric. It's weird that very little is being said about ATOM. I know very little is known at all but considering I thought Ray was going to be the defacto lead I find it interesting. Right now I think Rip will be the Lead with Sara as the fighter, COld as the snarky oneliner and the Hawks romance being the Romance. So I'm interesting to see what happens Ray and Stein and Stein and Jax. Link to comment
Ann Mack January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 I'm not opposed to love interests. I love Olicity like crazy and think Diggle and Lyla are adorable together. It just seems IMO like talking about love interest(s) took precedence over telling the audience about the basic plot of the story or before developing the characters as a team. Link to comment
GreatAtBoats January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 It took them literally ten months since the announcement of the show to talk about a legitimate love interest for anyone besides the Hawks (Not counting Valentina because it may not involve real feelings on anyone's part). Sara's love interest doesn't appear until halfway through the season. I don't know where you're getting that they're putting romance ahead of character development or plot. 1 Link to comment
tarotx January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 They are filming Episode 8 or 9. The episode is just about a closeted Nurse in the 50's who Sara finds a connection to at a time time she is trapped in the past. Sara is going to be at a place where she wants connection but hasn't been able to really give it. I think I'm looking forward to it(depends on what spoilers come out). Even if Ra's Al Ghul appears as well. Though I actually don't know if they are in the same episode. I'm not opposed to love interests. Did my opinion offend you in some way cause I detect attitude in your response. I'm not marking a calendar tracking how many months it takes them to get to a love interest. I'm referring to a first season with at minimum of 8 characters with time traveling involved and probably a lot of new story and back story needed to be told to build them as a team and I would prefer to hear about that first. I have stated I am not opposed to love interest but its not my primary reason with this show right now. They are filming Episode 8 or 9. GreatAtBoats January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 (edited) LOL, no, your opinion doesn't offend me. You said it seemed like talking about love interests took precedence over character/team development, so I was curious what gave you that impression. They were at the Upfronts, at SDCC, at NYCC, etc., and never talked about potential love interests unless specifically asked. Valentina got a basic casting announcement, and there was a short interview with the showrunner about the nurse to go along with that casting announcement. The importance of Sara's bisexuality should not be discounted, but it's not like it's being given tons of attention by the show or the CW's marketing. Sakura12 January 5, 2016 Share January 5, 2016 (edited) Sara's getting left behind in 1958, she probably thinks she's stuck there and that's why she has time to fall in love with the nurse. I think it will be interesting since Sara's from a time where she can marry a woman and is stuck in a time when you couldn't come out for the fear of what could happen to you if you did. IMO they are not focused on love interests except for the Hawks. They haven't shown any shipper moments in the promos. All this other talk is everyone's personal opinions of which ships they think they will like. Only the Hawks have the destined love, everyone else is single and fair game for shippers for to latch onto. Edited January 5, 2016 by Sakura12 Link to comment
