Jack has always been awkward and it was usually the case of someone not easily being friends with him. I think Isabella was an exception though. The rest of the friends he has now didn't exactly happen overnight from what I recall.

I think JJ/Gabi are rushing this but for a short term thing I'm ok. I'm sure Stefan will return soon.

I like the Jack Xander friendship as well.   I will always have a soft spot for Jack.   He had a real redemption back in the day when things like that would be written over time.   And the actor played it well and he also played the lighthearted funny Jack well.   Xander has some of the same qualities  without the slow redemption arc.

Even if I hadn't heard about the return of the "Fake Rafe" story, I would have been suspicious why all of a sudden there are Rafe mentions - a few of them.

I don't know though. Republicans managed to roll back Roe v. Wade, so I don't think this is that forced or out of time, really. (I really don't want to bring politics in this but this is a political issue.)

I just don't think was necessary at all. I get the vibe he's  trying to recreate Belle and Shawn via the Jan Spears baby plot, but I don't care about Tate and Holly so this is all moot for me.

He has not been like a father to all of Sami's kids. She was with Rafe longer than she was with Lucas when she was raising her younger children and then she was raising them with EJ and then she raised them alone out of Salem while Lucas remained in Salem.

I still annoyed that EJ didn't refuse to save Lucas' life and I would have been spared Lucas annoying presence on this show for the past two decades as he is the only character that I hate more than Nicole. Barely.

I am late to the party on Christmas episodes but I got all misty at the ornament hanging.   I love how they linger over all the ornaments even of people who most viewers don't know.   The Doug and Julie first Christmas was sweet, but what made me laugh a bit was it the point in the story where he was her side piece while she was married to Scott Banning and before he married her mother.  Theirs was a broken road to happily ever after and I never tired of watching them.

I got the exact same vibe - and I hate Jan for being such a gross caricature - so the whole thing is a turnoff.

Plus, have we even had enough time with Holly and Tate to root for them? Are we just supposed to want them together because...they look pretty? I don't get it. We've already seen better storytelling between him and Sophia. Their gradual relationship has felt more rootable. Holly hasn't been a good girlfriend or crush thus far. But now they're using the "keeping the baby to keep the man" trope just to make Sophia look bad.

As written, she seems too smart to not get an abortion. She isn't out of high school. Tate doesn't love her and even said Holly's name during sex. Frankly I'm stunned they didn't use protection (again, Sophia seems too smart not to). I also don't buy her getting bossed around by her mother or anyone for that matter. She's never seemed hugely religious either, so.....??

It's like the Sloan baby snatching all over again. Makes no sense. Plot-driven writing.

Fair. I only meant that between losing Rafe and EJ dying and needing care for something like seven years, Lucas was probably the most reliable Father Figure they had in their lives. He's been Will's Dad consistently, and he went to help Allie through her drinking problems. Until recently he hadn't been in jail. Generally stable.

Oooookaaaay 😄 I used to dislike him too, actually, but Bryan D always brings good energy to the part. I think the writing has largely been to blame. He was insufferable for years in the 90s and that followed him. Being paired with scheming Sami didn't help. They were often unpleasant.

I can't help but think that Sophia will lose the baby, and possibly blame Holly for it. It would be a nice callback to Nicole's previous behavior if only Nicole was still in Salem.

My mind also zipped off in that direction but came to a screeching halt when I realized that even with that scenario, this JPL version of Philip trying to cross swords with Xander would be Philip wielding a butter knife against Xander with the sword.
