Amy & Dillon: Married One Year

Recommended Posts

I actually liked Dillon in this. I find Amy a drama queen and exhausting.

I wonder why they don't use birth control if they both don't want kids for a few years.

Amy's makeup looked horrible in the taking heads. Very thick and cakey.

While I agree that parents divorcing could be stressful, I don't see how it is that devastating. She seemed overly distraught. Weren't her parents on the rocks for years?

Whew.  Watching this was genuinely exhausting.  There was nothing authentic about this "special" at all.  I liked Dillon immediately, but I started to feel sorry for him as the hour passed.  He has a tough road ahead, dealing with Amy's overemotional, melodramatic bullshit.  I had three main takeaways regarding Amy: 1. She is definitely aware of the cameras.  2. Girlfriend needs to step away from the bronzer.  3. I do not have the mental or emotional bandwidth to have her as a friend.  She's the kind of woman who screams and embraces her supposedly beloved "friend" as if she hasn't seen her in ages, but probably doesn't know much about her as a person.  Phoniness personified.  The most hilarious part of the special was when Amy justified her stepping away from her musical pursuits by saying she was focusing on her marriage.  Sure, Jan.  That's why.

TLC, if this is your thinly-veiled attempt to ease Amy Duggar into our living rooms every week, consider me uninterested (and unlikely to tune in).  Yes, I watch the (main) Duggars, but it's too late to quit them now.

OH. MY. GOD. I will forever be upset with myself for actually wasting an hour of my life and watching this. First of all, STAGED AF! I mean, it couldn't get any more staged than this lol. Secondly, Amy, Amy, Amy. She is beyond annoying. She definitely loves those cameras, loves being on camera, and loves being overly obnoxious for said cameras. I mean, this was her *hopefully* one and only time to be the center of attention, and boy did she run with it! I really hope TLC doesn't decide to pick this up as a regular show. I will do everything in my power to nOT WATCH IT. Ugh.

What does she do all day?  How does she contribute to their household?  Is she a stay at home wife, which is fine if that's her choice?  But they didn't address it all other than she doesn't do music and sometime she goes with Dillon to his 2 jobs.  But then she was talking about getting her nails done and came back with a lot of shopping bags.

Ratings:  734K viewers and a .18 rating.  That should be low enough to prevent TLC from trying to turn those two into a series.

That means that 645,000 viewers who watched Counting On switched the channel when they saw Amy's special starting.  No one would have watched that special at all if it hadn't immediately followed a Counting On episode.  I hope that sends a clear message to TLC not to put Amy on TV again.

Well, *I* wanted to watch it (high snark potential) ;-) , so of course, I missed it (and can't find it anywhere.)

I have a pretty high tolerance for ''empty'' reality tv (I wish I didn't, lol). But even I, 2 minutes into this, was already bored - not to mention annoyed by Amy (boy is she obnoxious). I ended up fast-forwarding through most of it, and even the ''highlights'' were boring af.

Amy was the worst, but Dillon got on my nerves as well. He seems like a jackass.

The only thing I actually enjoyed was seeing Amy's black cat, Winston. He's a cutie.

This was just 50 shades of hot mess. I still - all these hours later-am kicking myself for actually thinking this would be something interesting to watch. It was so bad. Just because she was a "Duggar" doesn't mean that we all care about her dumb life lmao. Like, really? The whole damn thing was not convincing at all. Her and her husband are a complete mismatch and every time they were trying to do something romantic, it came off completely phony. As much as the "Duggar family" annoys me, even they are more tolerable. *shudders* and thats saying a lot!

Famy is definitely an idiot.  I didn't really dislike her until this episode.  Everything she did (playing for the cameras) annoyed me.  I do feel sorry for her husband.  She is just a hot mess and thinks she is the next Kim K.  NOT.  Why she thinks her life is so special and gorgeous and TV worthy is beyond me.  For pure torture, I watched on and off for as many minutes as I could.

All I have to say is, she better get a job.  Her reality TV career is OVER!

Oh and the cat thing was awful.  Poor cat!  Being introduced to the family with a room full of people was just horrible. Hopefully she keeps him away from Derrick and sleds.  Doubt it.

I completely agree with you.

As a person with six rescue cats, who were all feral when we got them, thats the last thing you do. First of all, they took the cat downstairs and left it alone in that carrier where it couldn't even come out and have some air. Second of all, real nice just making a big spectacle with everyone all grading around and then that obnoxious idiot screaming and making a big deal? Really? Have some damn compassion. This is why I always prefer animals over everyone lmao.

I don't really like either of them and I'm not convinced they actually like each other. During half of their talking heads I wanted to yell Then. Why. Are. You. Together. It's been a year and Amy's all "Marriage is a slog. Marriage is a trial. Everything about this is hard." Please don't have that attention baby you've been whoring for!

I also didn't enjoy having to listen to them talking with their mouths full of donuts, lobster, cupcakes, bacon, waffles, etc.

Wow, I agree with your posts guys. I actually watched this episode today when I hoped to stay awake in the middle of the afternoon. Well, I fast forwarded through some of it as sheer boredom was setting in. Amy is quite unlikeable; why she' was allowed around her Duggar cousins is beyond me if this is the real her. I kind of liked Dillon, I felt quite sorry for that guy being stuck with a wife like that. Amy is a bitch. She's demanding, childish, an attention seeker and doesn't communicate well with her husband. Yes, Grandma Duggar 'gave' them that great guy of a house. I believe she's letting them live there rent free as they fix it up FOR HER. Mary's no idiot; business first. This show is already a train that has crashed, sorry to say.   I hope Dillon wises up, has straightened out some past issues and dumps Amy. The guy can't please her no matter what.

I think what made Amy endearing when she first started making appearance on the Duggar show was her contrast to the Duggar family---she wears pants, she's outspoken, she doesn't follow the Fundie religion...etc. That made her difference and in a house where everyone is so similar it's down right creepy, she stood out. Annoying, sure---but having her around for 5-10 minutes in an hour long episode every once in a while was no big deal.

That special? Total hot mess and they absolutely will be divorced within the first 8 years I guarantee it. They gave off a Jon and Kate vibe in their talking heads and that is not a good sign. Amy is obviously playing it up for the cameras and Dillion came off relatively normal, but not really likeable either.

TLC may show the rest of whatever they filmed, but I can't imagine this lasting long.

I don't understand why Dillon, who isn't fond of cats around the house, bought Amy another cat for her birthday...isn't that a type of enabling? He will be stressed to have two cats around once the 'birthday novelty' has worn off. It will merely add more strife to their already stressed relationship. Amy is a bitch.

My guess would be, inexperience.  He's hoping to pick up the slack and that by adding in some self-sacrificing masochist points, Amy will forgive him for some sweeping deficit of misbehavior on his part (whether perceived or real).

Not sure why but I watched this boring show last week. I have not disliked Amy as much as most seem to mainly because when she was younger I had hoped she might cause one of the Duggar kids to stray and escape.  Since that never happened I still don't actually dislike her, but find her an annoying attention whore.  I actually like Dillon more than I thought I would.  I thought the fact they had been friends for a long time was interesting and he probably thinks he is lucky she decided to marry him.  It probably explains why he puts up with her whining and demanding attitude.  The show was so boring I was not paying much attention.  Sorry Amy, I do not see a spin off in your future.
