I liked it more than I thought I would! Chris O'Dowd and Sean Bridgers make it--but they're far from the only good things in it. The opening scene looks like it's setting up to be some kind of hybrid of Breaking Bad and Fargo, but then the show goes its own way. Didn't feel like I was watching a retread of anything. I hope Allen Coulter is on board to direct more episodes. He's as good as it gets.

I've now come up against the fact that beyond the first couple episodes, the other ones require getting Epix from your cable or satellite provider. We watched the first 2 via the Epix portal on Apple TV, and hoped to be able to watch all the rest that way, by subscribing to Epix on Apple TV. But such is not possible, unless you also can get the channel from your cable or satellite provider. Since DirecTV doesn't carry Epix, we're out of luck.

I'd buy the episodes from the iTunes store on a per episode or per season basis if that were possible, but it's not. Drat. Hopefully they will become available that way at some point in the future.

I really liking this show.. it can be so funny but also serious the latest episode was good with amara coming to LA and sitting in on the casting of the actress. It made me laugh how she tried to shut down casting her but couldnt because of the studio. My favourite part of the episode was definitely when katie called the golf pro and him getting mad saying he just got his golf game back and snapping at the car honking and just... u know what fuck it.. click.

Ray romano is killing it i keep rooting for him but at the same time i get pissed hes unintentionally messing things up for miles always!

I've really enjoyed this show. I hope it is renewed for another season.

Sounds like the show is done for the season, which gives me hope Season 1 will show up on iTunes, Hulu, Netflix, or someplace else I can watch it. I've noticed that some shows do show up in those places only once a given season has completed.

Following up on my own comment, I see that as of about a week ago, the show has finally showed up at the iTune Store, so I can view it on my Apple TV. Huzzah!

I've now watched through Episode 4. One thing different-feeling about this show is that it plays out terrible things happening to people who don't deserve it. Usually, if awful things happen to "innocent bystanders" in shows like this, it's because they're not really innocent; they're a-holes or something like that. But here, I really like the golf pro. In Episode 1 we're set up not to like him, because we assume the character will be plugged into the model we expect (rival to our hero for the estranged wife's affection, which always means some kind of a-hole). But the more we've come to know him, the more we realize he's really a decent guy. He deserves as much happiness as anyone. So watching him decline into anxiety-attack hell as a result of his beating by Iago is really sad. (As is our finding out that Katy still loves Miles.) The poor guy!

An interesting show, in that the characters who typically would be portrayed sympathetically, and often times are, really do engage in horridly immoral actions, with innocent people as victims. Lou Lou shoots the writer's girlfriend in the head, when she notices her contributions to the script. The writer himself was a casino deadbeat, but Lou Lou killing him  was pretty grim. Miles himself was going to murder the Kiwi actress, for being a roadblock to film production. Elmore Leonard's protagonists were frequently violent criminals, but they usually didn't target the innocent.

I liked this show, and am curious to see how the characters evolve.

Just watch the first episode of this show, and was wildly unimpressed. I love Chris O'Dowd, but 35 minutes in I was checking to see how much time was left. I might be spoiled by watching it so late because It suffers in comparison to Barry, which wasn't a thing when this show debuted. I'll keep going because sometimes the pilot isn't the best example of the show but most of you seem to like it from the beginning so I'm not hopeful

I'm into season 2 and Chris O'Dowd just makes me so happy. It's irrational.

I'm dizzy-in-love with Chris O'Dowd.  This is a great show.  And now I know what Mormons' magic underwear looks like (I already knew about "soaking" from "Alpha House" on Amazon).

I did wonder if that was supposed to be magic Mormon underwear but I didn't know if that was "authentic" or their made up version. I listened to a podcast with Chris O'Dowd over the weekend and now I'm low-key stalking his sister, he mentioned where all of the brothers and sisters live and one sister is here with me. Oh you know I'm listening out for an accent! I will become bff's with her, then he will visit and it's not like I even want to marry him, I want to become his pet. or nanny or personal assistant. I was so unsure of him playing a killer but truly he is still charming and still makes me happy as a killer.

Thoughts on the latest episode? I was happy to see Iago go, personally. No love lost there.

Also, Amara's brief red carpet appearance was hilarious. She is such a ham (character and actress both!).

I adore this woman who plays Amara. I wouldn't count out Yago, we didn't see him die so I bet he'll be back somewhere. I think his new friends will put him on their crew. But no I don't like him and I won't miss him if he doesn't reappear. I really like this show. It is soooooo hard to find. Maybe it'll be on Netflix or Hulu in a few years. I'm also very angry that I won't be getting Juliet, Naked anywhere near me. I hate Ethan Hawke but I love Chris O'Dowd enough to suffer through.

I love how we all keep adding to this thread because none of us can get off our ass and create a Season 2 thread. :)

I was surprised how much the latest episode made me feel for Amara. She really wanted her night to be perfect--and I wanted that for her! Why I would feel that way about a monster is part of what makes this show so great.

And @nachomama, I second your love for the actress. She's able to signal so much with the smallest facial gestures known to man.

I'm convinced this show would be one of the biggest things on TV if it weren't on Epix.

What was the name of the actor who played the HR guy at the production company?  He looks so familiar to me.

Marc Evan Jackson. He's also currently in The Good Place, so maybe that's where you know him. But he's been in a million things in the last few years.

Very interesting show. Acting is wonderful, and the writing isn't perfect, but some really interesting, non typical  choices are made. Season 2 is a definite step up from season 1, and season 1 was good.

I can only hope this gets renewed because I'm invested in seeing what happens to these people.

Me too. They left some good cliffhangers for a new season so they must have been feeling okay about renewal. Apparently Get Shorty been highly successful for Epix.

What's going to happen with Rick and Amara? He's pretty brave to be going to a foreign country to be with her while she's on the lam from the feds. Wonder if the US has an extradition treaty with the country where she is? Probably not since she's usually pretty smart about those things.

Miles has successfully produced a critically-acclaimed movie from behind bars. Those rap guys who make albums while they're locked up ain't got nothing on him. Looks like he's probably put the fear of God into Lawrence Budd too but we'll see if the guy takes the strong hint. (What a great role this has been for Stephen Weber.)

I don't care much about Louis' storyline with the weird marriage. I think Gladys is an idiot for getting mixed up with him and buying his nonsense but I hope things work out okay for the baby's sake.

Again, just some really interesting, nontypical writing choices. Very few shows would have the courage to have their main character spend a season finale in prison, kind of doing the same thing over and over, over the course of a year. I didn't think it worked entirely, but I thought it intriguing. Hope we see season 3.

I loved this season!

The cock in a jar was epic,  staring at it on the bed while wondering what to do with it was hilarious.  So Rick made new friends in jail (What a lovely jail) and can have some money for a new movie but he left to join Amara, Maybe Miles and the gang will make it in...  Nicaragua?  With the FBI filling in of course...

It just ended and I already can't wait for the next season, if there is one that is.

Patience.  These writers always come through.   That little conversation between April and Louis about the weird numbering on the apartments--and how she got lost.  Good thing I paid attention to that conversation.

I just finished the first season which is streaming on netflix, thank God....FANTASTIC.....loved loved loved it, and I am a fan of Amara as well!. This show is something else,  I didn't care for it at first, and then TOTALLY GOT INTO IT......It's so different from the film, which I thought was PERFECT, I bet I have seen it 20 times....this is just as good. Where can I find the second season folks?

I just finished binge watching the first season on Netflix. I thought it was excellent. The first two episodes weren’t as exciting but there was a lot of character development that happened which set the stage for the rest of the season. The writing and acting are both excellent. Chris Dowd and Ray Romano were so great. I started sharing Rick’s stress.

Don’t know how long I would have to wait for Season 2 on Netflix, so hopefully I can find a source to get Season 2.

I think if it does well for them on Netflix Season 2 could show up shorty. Geddit? Shorty. I do wonder how things end up on Epix vs other "original" programming from Hulu, Netflix, Amazon because clearly this wasn't low budget, unknowns, etc.
