Twilight Man August 13, 2017 Share August 13, 2017 Several years ago, they tried the idea of a weekly comedy about making a movie. Hollywood writers can just draw off of real experiences because sometimes every day in Holly -WEIRD can be an adventure. I really enjoyed the Travolta movie and I think that this show could really be awesome. Link to comment
Milburn Stone August 15, 2017 Share August 15, 2017 I liked it more than I thought I would! Chris O'Dowd and Sean Bridgers make it--but they're far from the only good things in it. The opening scene looks like it's setting up to be some kind of hybrid of Breaking Bad and Fargo, but then the show goes its own way. Didn't feel like I was watching a retread of anything. I hope Allen Coulter is on board to direct more episodes. He's as good as it gets. 1 Link to comment

Milburn Stone August 16, 2017 Share August 16, 2017 Have now watched Episode 2. Still on board. Ray Romano is so good--I'm feeling terrible anxiety for his character! (Like it's happening to me.) Link to comment
Igorpudak August 26, 2017 Share August 26, 2017 The show seem to be amalgam of Breaking Bad, Fargo and Episodes. Entertaining show nonetheless. 1 Link to comment
Milburn Stone August 26, 2017 Share August 26, 2017 (edited) I've now come up against the fact that beyond the first couple episodes, the other ones require getting Epix from your cable or satellite provider. We watched the first 2 via the Epix portal on Apple TV, and hoped to be able to watch all the rest that way, by subscribing to Epix on Apple TV. But such is not possible, unless you also can get the channel from your cable or satellite provider. Since DirecTV doesn't carry Epix, we're out of luck. I'd buy the episodes from the iTunes store on a per episode or per season basis if that were possible, but it's not. Drat. Hopefully they will become available that way at some point in the future. Doyounot September 12, 2017 Share September 12, 2017 I really liking this show.. it can be so funny but also serious the latest episode was good with amara coming to LA and sitting in on the casting of the actress. It made me laugh how she tried to shut down casting her but couldnt because of the studio. My favourite part of the episode was definitely when katie called the golf pro and him getting mad saying he just got his golf game back and snapping at the car honking and just... u know what fuck it.. click. Ray romano is killing it i keep rooting for him but at the same time i get pissed hes unintentionally messing things up for miles always! Link to comment
Milburn Stone September 13, 2017 Share September 13, 2017 (edited) Still frustrated that I have no way to watch this (after the first two episodes). If it ever gets onto Hulu, Netflix, or the iTunes Store, I hope someone will post the news. Edited September 13, 2017 by Milburn Stone Link to comment

Sounds like the show is done for the season, which gives me hope Season 1 will show up on iTunes, Hulu, Netflix, or someplace else I can watch it. I've noticed that some shows do show up in those places only once a given season has completed. 1 Link to comment

heisenberg October 15, 2017 Share October 15, 2017 It was quite good. What is settled is that Miles turned from defensive to offensive in that last episode (Don't scare Shorty). I guess that we will see the L.A. gang coming in next season, I can't wait! 1 Link to comment

Milburn Stone November 28, 2017 Share November 28, 2017 (edited) I've now watched through Episode 4. One thing different-feeling about this show is that it plays out terrible things happening to people who don't deserve it. Usually, if awful things happen to "innocent bystanders" in shows like this, it's because they're not really innocent; they're a-holes or something like that. But here, I really like the golf pro. In Episode 1 we're set up not to like him, because we assume the character will be plugged into the model we expect (rival to our hero for the estranged wife's affection, which always means some kind of a-hole). But the more we've come to know him, the more we realize he's really a decent guy. He deserves as much happiness as anyone. So watching him decline into anxiety-attack hell as a result of his beating by Iago is really sad. (As is our finding out that Katy still loves Miles.) The poor guy! Bannon July 30, 2018 Share July 30, 2018 An interesting show, in that the characters who typically would be portrayed sympathetically, and often times are, really do engage in horridly immoral actions, with innocent people as victims. Lou Lou shoots the writer's girlfriend in the head, when she notices her contributions to the script. The writer himself was a casino deadbeat, but Lou Lou killing him was pretty grim. Miles himself was going to murder the Kiwi actress, for being a roadblock to film production. Elmore Leonard's protagonists were frequently violent criminals, but they usually didn't target the innocent. I liked this show, and am curious to see how the characters evolve. 2 Link to comment
HavartiHead42 August 8, 2018 Share August 8, 2018 Just watch the first episode of this show, and was wildly unimpressed. I love Chris O'Dowd, but 35 minutes in I was checking to see how much time was left. I might be spoiled by watching it so late because It suffers in comparison to Barry, which wasn't a thing when this show debuted. I'll keep going because sometimes the pilot isn't the best example of the show but most of you seem to like it from the beginning so I'm not hopeful Link to comment
nachomama August 13, 2018 Share August 13, 2018 I'm into season 2 and Chris O'Dowd just makes me so happy. It's irrational. 3 Link to comment

This is a great show. And now I know what Mormons' magic underwear looks like (I already knew about "soaking" from "Alpha House" on Amazon). 1 Link to comment
nachomama August 14, 2018 Share August 14, 2018 I did wonder if that was supposed to be magic Mormon underwear but I didn't know if that was "authentic" or their made up version. I listened to a podcast with Chris O'Dowd over the weekend and now I'm low-key stalking his sister, he mentioned where all of the brothers and sisters live and one sister is here with me. Oh you know I'm listening out for an accent! I will become bff's with her, then he will visit and it's not like I even want to marry him, I want to become his pet. or nanny or personal assistant. I was so unsure of him playing a killer but truly he is still charming and still makes me happy as a killer. 2 Link to comment
moon August 20, 2018 Share August 20, 2018 Thoughts on the latest episode? I was happy to see Iago go, personally. No love lost there. Also, Amara's brief red carpet appearance was hilarious. She is such a ham (character and actress both!). 1 Link to comment
nachomama August 22, 2018 Share August 22, 2018 I adore this woman who plays Amara. I wouldn't count out Yago, we didn't see him die so I bet he'll be back somewhere. I think his new friends will put him on their crew. But no I don't like him and I won't miss him if he doesn't reappear. I really like this show. It is soooooo hard to find. Maybe it'll be on Netflix or Hulu in a few years. I'm also very angry that I won't be getting Juliet, Naked anywhere near me. I hate Ethan Hawke but I love Chris O'Dowd enough to suffer through. 1 Link to comment
Milburn Stone August 25, 2018 Share August 25, 2018 I love how we all keep adding to this thread because none of us can get off our ass and create a Season 2 thread. :) I was surprised how much the latest episode made me feel for Amara. She really wanted her night to be perfect--and I wanted that for her! Why I would feel that way about a monster is part of what makes this show so great. And @nachomama, I second your love for the actress. She's able to signal so much with the smallest facial gestures known to man. I'm convinced this show would be one of the biggest things on TV if it weren't on Epix. 4 Link to comment

Milburn Stone September 17, 2018 Share September 17, 2018 (edited) Indeed it is. Thank you. Her IMDB bio says that her father was Argentinian and as a result she speaks perfect Spanish. Bannon October 1, 2018 Share October 1, 2018 Very interesting show. Acting is wonderful, and the writing isn't perfect, but some really interesting, non typical choices are made. Season 2 is a definite step up from season 1, and season 1 was good. 2 Link to comment

Joimiaroxeu October 8, 2018 Share October 8, 2018 Quote I can only hope this gets renewed because I'm invested in seeing what happens to these people. Me too. They left some good cliffhangers for a new season so they must have been feeling okay about renewal. Apparently Get Shorty been highly successful for Epix. What's going to happen with Rick and Amara? He's pretty brave to be going to a foreign country to be with her while she's on the lam from the feds. Wonder if the US has an extradition treaty with the country where she is? Probably not since she's usually pretty smart about those things. Miles has successfully produced a critically-acclaimed movie from behind bars. Those rap guys who make albums while they're locked up ain't got nothing on him. Looks like he's probably put the fear of God into Lawrence Budd too but we'll see if the guy takes the strong hint. (What a great role this has been for Stephen Weber.) I don't care much about Louis' storyline with the weird marriage. I think Gladys is an idiot for getting mixed up with him and buying his nonsense but I hope things work out okay for the baby's sake. 4 Link to comment
Bannon October 8, 2018 Share October 8, 2018 Again, just some really interesting, nontypical writing choices. Very few shows would have the courage to have their main character spend a season finale in prison, kind of doing the same thing over and over, over the course of a year. I didn't think it worked entirely, but I thought it intriguing. Hope we see season 3. 2 Link to comment
heisenberg October 9, 2018 Share October 9, 2018 (edited) I loved this season! The cock in a jar was epic, staring at it on the bed while wondering what to do with it was hilarious. So Rick made new friends in jail (What a lovely jail) and can have some money for a new movie but he left to join Amara, Maybe Miles and the gang will make it in... Nicaragua? With the FBI filling in of course... It just ended and I already can't wait for the next season, if there is one that is. Edited October 9, 2018 by heisenberg 2 Link to comment
Milburn Stone October 9, 2018 Share October 9, 2018 I loved this season, I loved this season finale, and I love Epix for bringing it to me. (There, I said it.) If they don't renew it, I might have to ask Miles Daly to have a little talk with them. 4 Link to comment

atlantaloves November 22, 2018 Share November 22, 2018 I just finished the first season which is streaming on netflix, thank God....FANTASTIC.....loved loved loved it, and I am a fan of Amara as well!. This show is something else, I didn't care for it at first, and then TOTALLY GOT INTO IT......It's so different from the film, which I thought was PERFECT, I bet I have seen it 20 times....this is just as good. Where can I find the second season folks? 1 Link to comment
Stats Queen November 27, 2018 Share November 27, 2018 I just finished binge watching the first season on Netflix. I thought it was excellent. The first two episodes weren’t as exciting but there was a lot of character development that happened which set the stage for the rest of the season. The writing and acting are both excellent. Chris Dowd and Ray Romano were so great. I started sharing Rick’s stress. Don’t know how long I would have to wait for Season 2 on Netflix, so hopefully I can find a source to get Season 2. nachomama November 28, 2018 Share November 28, 2018 I think if it does well for them on Netflix Season 2 could show up shorty. Geddit? Shorty. I do wonder how things end up on Epix vs other "original" programming from Hulu, Netflix, Amazon because clearly this wasn't low budget, unknowns, etc. 1 Link to comment

atlantaloves December 7, 2018 Share December 7, 2018 Why hello Miss Former Nun from the view site, I adore this show just finished off season two last night this is the funnest sickest show outside of Barry. My God, they really left us hanging and man, we have gotta have a season three immediately. Oh and I love Amera or however you spell her name, just looking for love in all the wrong places....Damn, you can not kill that porkie bitch can ya? She is knocking it out of the park, pure evil. And so here we are rooting for real killers again, LOVE IT. Link to comment
