I mean, it's great game play if you can convince them all that it works for three random weeks, like he gets a pass if he wins HoH or something. I doubt Big Brother would announce it. It's riding the line of "using production as strategy" and yet not? This is why I don't like Paul. Solid game play choices like that (if it works) but he just annoys me so much that I don't want it to work.

He's popular because he's entertaining. He brought the funny last season that James never could. The problem is that when Paul isn't playing up the actual funny entertainment (such as the bodyguard gag last season which was actually hilarious, or even some of his other antics with Pablo), he's not really that good. He hasn't brought the funny this season, because he's a vet, which means he doesn't feel like he can just sit back, not play the game for entertainment, and be chill. He has to be on, he has to be thinking game, and he has to be playing. He's just playing too hard, too fast, and too aggressively. Telling people what to do, threatening them, blackmailing them, and bullying them (yes, he is absolutely verging into bullying territory with Ramses) is not fun. The problem is that his minions are either ignoring this side of him and wanting to do what he wants, or they know that he's safe for another week and a half so they have to just pretend to go along with everything he's doing. Honestly, I have to see where the true loyalties lie once his safety's up. It's hard to tell right now because his alliance is very loyal to him, and I can't tell if they're going to stay loyal past week 3 or if they'll turn on him. I'd like to think it's the latter, but we've seen stupid houseguests stay loyal to vets before.

Paul's loyalty is to a fault with him. I think Christmas is the closest to his ride or die, since he's been ferociously protecting her and talking game, but he has nobody to reel him in and calm him down like Victor did. I think once Victor came back into the house, he helped with Paul (not completely, but him being there helped). Without Victor, Paul played exactly how he is now. He doesn't have that person this season, and I don't see anyone being that person for him because many of them are enabling him (Matt, Christmas, Mark) or they're on the other side of the house so Paul doesn't have complete trust in them to be his loyal ally (Alex, Kevin, Jason).

Good points. I guess it's these posts dismissing him as "moronic" and "idiotic" just don't fly with me. He's actually very bright. Last season I loved hearing his story of how he spent time in London as an intern at the Houses of Parliament. He's obviously bright and has a relatively good way of adjusting to his surroundings. What were the chances an Armenian-American kid from southern California would end up learning the ropes of the UK parliamentary process? I wonder if he went back to London to visit since BB 18.

I still think he should link up with Alex as a ride or die. I doubt Kevin will learn to strategically maneuver his way around the house quickly enough for Paul to be interested in him.

That kinda thing has nothing to do with whether or not you're a stupid BB player though. To me Paul's OK. He's nothing special, strategist wise. His social game is apparently good because it's worked well for him so far, but it wouldn't work on me personally so I don't know.

ETA: Like an hour ago Paul (with an assist from Mark) was interrogating Jason and forcing him to agree to not talk to Jessica/Cody and yet right now there's Jason, out in the pool with Jessica/Cody. Dammit Jason, I can't bring myself to hate you even though you're kind of terrible both as a person and a player!

Jason: A long time ago when I tried out for Amazing Race and American Idol ...
Jessica: Can you sing?
Jason: No.

LMAO! Dammit, why am I enjoying this convo with these 3? And why am I finding Cody attractive right now? Someone please send help!

Was someone speaking ill of my 32nd cousin twice removed via that great uncle that no one speaks about and we all pretend never existed?*

Oh, wait. It was probably me. Never mind.

Just like I said about BMC, in a hypothetical situation, if I ever ran into Paul at a bar and he was alone, I'd for sure buy him a beer - or drink of his choosing - and just sit there for hours listening to all of his stories if he kept telling them. But when it comes to the game? Just not a fan.

*Last season, Paul said enough about his family up in my neck of the woods in The Canada that made me think there was a possibility that he could be an offshoot of a branch of a branch of my family tree. Just one of those weird "huh... I wonder..." type moments.

I think it does, my point being he went into the house last year knowing practically nothing about the game but learned how to get as far as he did. He apparently did well in an alien environment like the Houses of Parliament and he's done relatively well in the alien environment of the house. He does possess that skill. I do think you could make that connection.

I have a very nice white coat for you to try on. It has really loooong sleeves that wrap around your entire body and all the buckles make little jangly noises when you move. I'm sure you'll look lovely in it.

OK wait, the way Paul and co. are talking now Paul's temptation is to be safe 3 random weeks? I thought he was just safe for the first 3 weeks. What the fuck this is ridiculous. ETA: Or at least they seem to be under the impression that because he won HOH he still has 2 weeks after this one of safety. They better be wrong about this.

How can it be 3 random weeks? It makes no sense.  It is contradictory. He cannot stall it waiting to be nominated so he can use it. That would almost take him to the end if he is not nominated because when he eventually is, he will use it.

He won HOH and that invalidated his second week's safety. He has one more time to use it... unless him winning this week's HOH gives him two more in a consecutive progression.

Or it indicates that if he does not win HOH after the next HOH for which he cannot play, it gives him safety and safety again after that if he again does not win HOH. That would carry him almost to August.

Kevin's up in HOH talking to Paul.  He told Paul that he trusts Mark more than Matt and wants to know what Paul thinks.  Paul doesn't really give him an answer.

Kevin's telling Paul that Alex said if she wins HOH she wants to put up Jessica and Ramses.  He says she is with Paul and that she is really one of the top 3 competitors in the house.

Josh doing his daily soliloquy. I actually like this guy. And NO !!! I am not his Mom. LOL. I think he has a game plan and is biding his time. He knows he has messed up, but he is working his way back. Knows he is coming across as weak and a baby ( says that is true) but he is getting it together. Has plans. Would like to play out with Xmas and Paul. See Kevin Jason and Marlena in the end.

Talking about his houseguest and saying nice things about almost all of them. This guy has a big heart and is learning a lot about himself .

I really want to see him get the Hex of Halting Temptation. Put some power in his hands.  I guess I have some campaigning to do !

Same I want him to get it as well. I haven't voted for anything BB for years, but I will vote this week!

Paul did not mince words and told Kevin that Jason is a fucking idiot.

He is that, too!

Paul asked Kevin who Kevin would put up if won HOH and Kevin told him that he'd put up whoever Paul wants.

That is the smart answer when talking to Paul.  It does not mean he is under his spell or a minion.  We will see what Kevin is made of when Paul leaves.  I am curious.

Jason better learn to love slop because earlier Paul revealed that his plan is to weaken Jason physically by making him a have not every week from here on out (assuming Paul or one of his minions is in power).

It is just hot cereal (steel cut oatmeal).  Many before them have created savory meals, baked goods and nifty breakfast items.  Raven should NOT try this.

Doss Paul think he'll decide who is Have Not every week?

of course he does

I find myself defending Paul.  He doing what he can to engage everyone so when his safety is up he has made in roads.  Sure he can be tedious to watch and he is full of himself but it is working.  That is what this game is about; using everything you can find to stay.  I appreciate HGs who play hard and he is.  Sure he has taken advantage of his vet status and knowing more about the game than anyone else there.  Why is that a detriment?   Not his fault they cast a bunch of HGs who are not quick. *

* Thank you Kevin for giving me a term that works for me better than stupid, dumb and moron.

Paul is bitching to Mark and Elena about how earlier Christmas was insisting that she talk to Ramses to try to repair her relationship with him.

Yes, because apparently, not wanting to ostracize someone who's being hated by literally everyone in the house, some for the wrong reasons unbenownst to them, is such a bad idea.

Again, points to Christmas because she doesn't just completely follow Paul blindly and say "Yes, Paul, whatever you say. I will ignore Ramses."

Honestly, I might have been happy to get an Alex/Christmas alliance. Throw in Kevin, Dom and Mark, and I'd be fairly happy. Too bad it has a zero percent chance of happening. Again, not that these five don't bug me many times, but I'm more than neutral on them and I don't outright hate them like I do with others.

Yeah, I like this. When Paul is free game we are going to see some good action, or I hope so.  Not the first time I have projected a scenario that suits me and failed.

No, drugs, drink, etc. I just have a little soft spot for him. My reasons for not voting him for it are that Paul would use it for him.

Well considering everyone is just doing what he tells them to do and up his ass, it's not a far stretch.

Again I say, they are not up his ass.  They are smart to let him do their agenda.  They all want Cody out and he is the guy that is doing just that.  I don't see a problem here.

Kind of like Alex but she is Catholic , never good for the atheist that is me.  I hate the religion pushed in your face talk.  Paul is playing a good game. I dislike Raven (illness drama)  Dom and Mark= oh good god, NO.   Elena has that Bible is truth thing going on, too, so no fucking way.  She believes Noah's arc story  is true,  That is it for me.

Who all knows about Christmas having surgery tomorrow? Just Paul? Won't everyone wonder why she's been gone an entire day just to have a cast put on?

And I guess Christmas will be missing from the veto ceremony. I'll never forget when Jocasta missed a veto ceremony and some people online lost it saying it was so unfair she didn't have to attend or some shit. LOL.

Dom and Paul know.  Arthroscopic surgery is fast.  They move em in and move em out quickly.  She is having pins inserted.  She was told she would she would be back in the house by 2pm.

So, the Hex Temptation voting goes all the way until the 19th. I guess there won't be a Temptation next week. Also, I bet the curse for the Hex Temptation will be unleashing the Battle Back.

ETA: Someone elsewhere suggested that they should still go through the motions of the Den of Temptation next week even though there won't be a Temptation. I would lol.

Edited by peachmangosteen

I could see them using battle back as a curse since they know everyone will take the Temptation. And if by some off chance they don't, they can just do the battle back anyway and just say it's another twist.

I don't see any scenario where the Temptation doesn't go to Alex or Kevin. They're the next most popular HGs.

Matt tried to drink diet coke and Alex had to tell him he can't. He then proceeded to look at the list and see that diet coke wasn't on there and yet he continued to drink it. And now he's trying to use ranch and Alex's trying to tell him he's not allowed. He said, "I'm not trying to hide it. If I can't do it they can tell me," and then the feeds cut away. Like Matt just read the instructions you were given, bud.

ETA: Apparently he's been drinking diet coke all day. I'm gonna need BB to punish him tbh. Matt you're not above having to follow the rules of HNs.

Matt got such attitude with Alex for trying to help him. What an ass, BB better punish him. According to him being a HN means just not eating calories? WTF.

Then why are Cody and Jason making slop cookies and muffins? They could eat fat free stuff. Either Matt's an idiot or he thinks rules don't apply to him.

I missed this conversation.  What happened?
