I'm not sure if anyone else is watching this show, but I was intrigued because of Shawn Doyle and the fact that Globe(?) tv critic John Doyle actually gave this show a good rating after seeing the first three episodes.

I was prepared to have to power through Anna Paquin's scenes but I like her in this. I love that CBC lets the odd "fuck" happen on the mothership after 9pm.

Starting to get annoyed that Annie can't see what a dick move it is to play along with the potentially crazy secret killer person.

Also wondering how Shawn Doyle found time to film this and The Expanse at roughly the same time.

I am enjoying this series.  I think it was well cast.  The location is also very interesting.

There was definitely more "f" words thrown around in this episode.  Probably because of the hockey coach.  That scene in the woods with him and the teammates was just crazy.

Every episode I find myself yelling at Anna's character for running alone in the woods or at night.  I still haven't forgiven her for leaving her daughter alone in the car with the killer running around in an earlier episode.

I also enjoy that Tom Branson from Downton Abbey is her ex.

Well, we're no further ahead with the case - actually further behind because they have the wrong guy. I have really enjoyed how the show has had different people in the town react in different ways to the LGBTQ issues in the show. It's like a microcosm of life but doesn't feel forced. It was nice when Jed reflexively referred to Jesse as "she". I'd make a terrible detective, sucked in by the nice drug dealer...

I don't understand Eddie and Annie's relationship - it seems like they don't, either. Maybe Eddie is just trying to untangle himself from it by beginning something with another woman, but this is the man who sleeps in his truck outside Annie's house.

Chief Welland seems like a decent guy as well, I can't see him being the murderer in either case so what is the Riddler trying to say about him? I'm horribly biased in favour of Shawn Doyle at all times, though. Loved him busting in that house wearing shades!

OMG, that's who he is!  I've been trying and trying to figure out why he looked so familiar!  I do like his and Annie's relationship,  there's something comforting about it.

Was it Peter burning that building?  I was hoping he would turn out to be a good guy but now it looks like he might be the crazy.

I can't believe I failed to make the connection who Alan Leech is and Downton Abbey.  He just looked super familiar.

Shawn Doyle will always be Balagan to this household fro his role in  Endgame.

I'm sad to be chatting by myself about this show!

I choked up a bit during the funeral, but of course it all went sideways, as it does.

Although I am a shameless fan of Shawn Doyle, I just can't see Peter being the baddie in this. Obviously the mayor is super sketchy - she must have bullied her way into office - but I think she's too obviously sketchy for this all to tie in with her.

Anne and Eddie are massively dysfunctional, I hope their daughter is able to rise above that scene.

I did not see that developing for Peter. Were they at it the WHOLE TIME since Sandy Driver's death? So uncomfortable, poor Annie.

Eddie is doing his best to untangle from Annie but theirs is a loooong standing dysfunction. Poor Daisy - I think I said that about last week's episode. She really is seeing her mother through different lenses.

I forgot the blonde lady was Tom's wife and for some reason thought it was Virginia's wife, which made the whole interaction at the rave bust really bizarre.

Excellent cliffhanger but how the fuck does that happen? How does NO ONE KNOW who Adam is? Also, are we closer to solving either murder with two episodes left in the season?

We really saw the bad side of a lot of the main characters this week.  I am glad we are finding out more about the Sandy Driver case.  I almost find that more interesting than Jesse's murder.

Just caught up on the first five episodes.  I enjoyed the first one but it's been downhill since then and I'll admit I only half watch except for Eddie's scenes.  I don't recall ever seeing Anna Paquin in anything since the Piano and I'm not impressed with her in this.  When she's on I'm so distracted by the dirty hair and the dull delivery of her lines.  I can't believe it took Allen Leech a year to find an acting job since Downton and this is what he came up with - doesn't bode well for a future career.

Her "acting" has pretty much ruined the show for me. I agree that her hair bugs, but how her character is styled probably wasn't her decision so I grudgingly give her a pass.

I really liked the scene at the end of Jesse's mom and his boyfriend sharing memories of him.

Does anyone know if this show has been renewed for another season?  With Annie heading out of town but still deeply upset and Peter's confession, it seems like they were setting up a second season.

Speaking of which, I'm very grateful we the audience got to know what Peter thought he should say to Annie but she wouldn't let him say it.  I would have been wondering and wondering what it was.

They are, but they have also found a way to support each other and it's rather interesting.  But I think they both need to move on.

I think this was the episode with the shot of the geese rising up from the pond and taking flight. I wondered if it was put in there deliberately as a nod to Paquin's earlier film, Fly Away Home.

Wow - I really liked this ending. Yes, I still had to power through Anna Paquin a bit, but overall I thought she and the rest of the cast were great. The triangle of Eddie, Annie, and Peter was really well done this episode. I have heard rumblings about a second season but I'm not sure where it would go - I guess that's why there are writers and viewers and I'm one of the latter.

I also really liked Jesse's mom and bf watching the phone. I can see those two establishing a relationship going forward. She will be looking for a surrogate son, and I think he could use a little mothering. I choose to believe they have a happily-ever-after story (with the usual life bumps, of course).

I read a postmortem with the creators (Bellevue: Adrienne Mitchell and Jane Maggs Talk “You Don’t Understand Me At All”)and they mentioned that Peter hadn't thought of the angle Adam pointed out - he didn't realise how his love was manifesting itself. They commented on how this was a show about different kinds of love, which I thought was pretty damned true. I laughed out loud when Annie asked Peter if what he had to say would fuck her up more, and he was like "It might..." The part I wasn't sure about was, does Annie know what he's going to say to her?

If there is a second season I will watch the hell out of it.

Re different kinds of love -- I wholeheartedly agreed with Eddie that Annie's obsessive feelings drag him down, so was kind of sorry to see them take off together. I was also sorry every time he put up with her neuroses (although, okay, some of that may be my dislike for Paquin in the role).

I thought it was pretty lousy show.  I was looking forward to it for Allen Leech but even he couldn't hold my interest, in fact I so lost interest that I didn't even watch the last two episodes.  Anna Paquin was like sleepwalking through the whole thing - can't believe how bad her acting was.  And every time I saw her I thought couldn't the make up department afford to wash your hair?  It will be interesting to see how it does on WGN.

Well poop, if they don't solve the murder in the first season, somebody let me know will ya, cause I just started watching this today in the USA.  Thanks.

They do solve it ;)

The only thing I really liked were the mystery messages from the dead father.  But then she immediately chose to conceal that business resurfacing during the current case.  Way to handicap the investigation, Detective!

And a police officer who tries to question a missing child's mother, gets blown off, and later apologizes for "pushing"?  What world is that?

I guess I'm just not up for eight hours of a flawed protagonist, haunted by her past,  tormented by an urgent case with suggestions of torture porn, distracted by doubts over her angsty child, and betrayed--I assume--by those she trusts.

That, and I found Paquin's acting to be shockingly bad. I liked the mystery well enough and wanted to find out what happened, so I watched, but wasn't happy.

Me too, was she always this awful? I did watch True Blood, maybe I blocked out how bad she was.

I was a little creeped out during the scene with her daughter in the car and the guy jumping on it. I kept screaming "go back to your kid!!!" I'll watch the next episode

i stopped watching but what is the connection between anna pacquins character and the police chief, whatever he is? the guy who knows so much about her , even from when she was a child. i thought it may have been a relative but don't think so.

From CBC.ca:

"Peter Welland is the Chief of Police in Bellevue. He used to be the junior partner to Annie’s father, Clarence Ryder. When Clarence dies, Peter tries to look out for Annie and oversee her life. When she begins to act out and gets into trouble, he redirects her energy and helps her become a police officer. But Peter, while competent, strong and authoritative, is also deeply conflicted with events in the past."
