Wild hogs are an absolute nuisance. Additionally, killing wild hogs isn’t gonna make country fans not vote for him. Nice try, PETA. Eat some bacon and cheer up.

I have no doubt wild hogs are a huge nuisance, but shooting them would be more humane than having your pack of dogs chew them up alive.

Eh, I’d need more context. Did he shoot and miss? If the hog had the chance, it would happily kill the four dogs. I’m good with removing wild hogs by any means necessary.

It's funny how a viewership of 4.6 million is an improvement and it's sort of an average rating for a primetime network show when the Clay/Ruben finale in 2003 brought in nearly 40 million viewers.  The streaming outlets have killed network TV.

Katy Perry chose “You Will Be Found” from Dear Evan Hansen for KAYKO (TIME TO BE MAD ALL OVER AGAIN!)
...
Kayko posted an intimate performance of the song Katy Perry picked for him to sing. “You Will Be Found” from the Broadway musical, Dear Evan Hansen. He filmed an intimate rendition of the song for social media, and it’s beautiful! If he had the opportunity to sing it, hopefully the band wouldn’t have drowned him out. His phrasing is so poignant and emotional in this acoustic version of the song.

Mia Matthews sang Wynona Judd’s “No One Else on Earth” as her Judges Song Contest pick.
...
Mia posted a clip of her rehearsal for Top 8 night. She revealed that she picked “No One Else on Earth” by Wynona Judd, but didn’t say which judge chose it for her. In a comment, Mia explained how and why rehearsals are filmed, “This was filmed on a monitor behind the band…” Mia wrote, “The actual purpose of the video was for me to see when and where the cameras cut to me, so during my actual performance, I could look at them to play with the audience at home.”

I think the finale is actually three hours?  The onscreen guide lists it airing at both 5 to 8 PM and 8 to 11 PM on our ABC affiliate.

3 New Singles and Videos From the Top 3 ‘American Idol’ Season 22 Finalists
BY TINA BENITEZ-EVES   MAY 19, 2024

As American Idol winds down toward its finale on Sunday, May 19, the top three finalists, Abi Carter, Will Moseley, and Jack Blocker, have released new original singles and videos that may help them land the coveted crown as the winner of season 22.

The three-hour finale will feature performances by Idol judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, along with top three mentor, Jon Bon Jovi. Wynonna Judd, Seal, New Kids on the Block, Jason Mraz, Hootie & the Blowfish, CeCe Winans, Cody Johnson, Bishop Briggs, James Bay, and Season 14 winner Nick Fradiani will also perform.
*  *  *
1. “This Isn’t Over,” Abi Carter

Abi Carter has come a long way since her February 25 audition performance of Billie Eilish‘s “What Was I Made For?” and describes the type of resilience she needed to get to where she is now in “This Isn’t Over.” Co-written by Carter and Samuel Michael Shrieve, “This Isn’t Over” is a song of perseverance and the perfect anthem to help send the 21-year-old Indio, California native off—or to the top as the winner.
*  *  *
2. “All of Yours (To Give All of Mine),” Jack Blocker

This self-penned tender ballad was written by Jack Blocker as a tribute to his wife Georgia, who he credits with encouraging him to keep pursuing a career in music.

3. “Good Book Bad,” Will Moseley

In “Good Book Bad,” Will Moseley advises looking to the Bible for guidance. The 23-year-old Georgia native and former college football player delivers a soulful touch to the song, written by Jordan Walker, Lalo Guzman, and Thomas Archer.

Most country music loving folks also love inspirational/religious songs, so I'm thinking Will's got this locked up.  At this point, I don't care who wins.  I wish them all luck.

This would make the judging panel two-thirds country and tilt the balance of contestants even more in that direction.

That was my first thought.  I don't dislike Carrie, but I think the third judge should be pop-oriented.  I know Lionel is pop, but he's more old-school, so a current pop singer or even a music producer would work out well.  But I figured they'd go for a huge name to potentially bring in viewers.  I wonder if Carrie will bring in more than Katy Perry's 3 million viewers per week.

Will Carrie Underwood Be a Tough American Idol Judge? ‘I Do Have a Big Problem: I Can’t Lie’
By Matt Webb Mitovich   August 2, 2024
https://tvline.com/interviews/carrie-underwood-american-idol-judge-type-season-23-1235310948/

Underwood is joining American Idol for Season 23, filling the seat left vacant by Katy Perry. Underwood will be joined by returning judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, as well as longtime host Ryan Seacrest.

The news was formally announced Thursday, accompanied by an emotional look back how the country superstar got her start in the music business when she became Idol‘s fourth-ever winner in 2005.

Appearing on ABC’s Good Morning America on Friday, Underwood was asked if, when it comes to judging, she will be “tough” or “very soft”?

“Well, I do have a big ‘problem’ — I can’t lie, I just can’t,” she shared, suggesting that she’ll offer up candid critiques to Idol hopefuls.

Very happy about Carrie being the new judge (especially considering I had been lectured earlier in the thread about how she supposedly had no interest, lol). I was hoping it woul be one of her, Jordin, or Fantasia. Plus, I think this works well with Katy's comments about keeping the chair warm; Carrie may only be interested in a season or two anyway.

I also thought about it making the panel 2/3rd country, but I was sort of assuming a country contestant might be who they'll be looking for next season's winner to be anyway. Perhaps they could look for a country girl to win with Carrie being there and all, since she's the only country woman ever to win the show so far. It would be perfect timing.

I meant to post this a few weeks ago and forgot.  Clay and his family (including his son who made his TV debut) participated on Celebrity Family Feud and won.  They played against David Foster's family.  There were Fosters on both teams because Clay's son Parker is David Foster's nephew, i.e. Parker's mom is David's sister, so David was playing against his sister and his nephew.
