Gemma Violet May 1 Share May 1 It's funny how a viewership of 4.6 million is an improvement and it's sort of an average rating for a primetime network show when the Clay/Ruben finale in 2003 brought in nearly 40 million viewers. The streaming outlets have killed network TV. 2 Link to comment

Kayko posted an intimate performance of the song Katy Perry picked for him to sing. “You Will Be Found” from the Broadway musical, Dear Evan Hansen. He filmed an intimate rendition of the song for social media, and it’s beautiful! If he had the opportunity to sing it, hopefully the band wouldn’t have drowned him out. His phrasing is so poignant and emotional in this acoustic version of the song. * * * Mia Matthews sang Wynona Judd’s “No One Else on Earth” as her Judges Song Contest pick. ... Mia posted a clip of her rehearsal for Top 8 night. She revealed that she picked “No One Else on Earth” by Wynona Judd, but didn’t say which judge chose it for her. In a comment, Mia explained how and why rehearsals are filmed, “This was filmed on a monitor behind the band…” Mia wrote, “The actual purpose of the video was for me to see when and where the cameras cut to me, so during my actual performance, I could look at them to play with the audience at home.” Edited May 4 by tv echo 2 Link to comment

Vermicious Knid August 1 Share August 1 Uuugghhh. This would make the judging panel two-thirds country and tilt the balance of contestants even more in that direction. Also she's a wet fish with almost no personality. 5 1 Link to comment
Gemma Violet August 1 Share August 1 1 hour ago, Vermicious Knid said: This would make the judging panel two-thirds country and tilt the balance of contestants even more in that direction. That was my first thought. I don't dislike Carrie, but I think the third judge should be pop-oriented. I know Lionel is pop, but he's more old-school, so a current pop singer or even a music producer would work out well. But I figured they'd go for a huge name to potentially bring in viewers. I wonder if Carrie will bring in more than Katy Perry's 3 million viewers per week. 3 Link to comment

Underwood will be joined by returning judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, as well as longtime host Ryan Seacrest. The news was formally announced Thursday, accompanied by an emotional look back how the country superstar got her start in the music business when she became Idol‘s fourth-ever winner in 2005. Appearing on ABC’s Good Morning America on Friday, Underwood was asked if, when it comes to judging, she will be “tough” or “very soft”? “Well, I do have a big ‘problem’ — I can’t lie, I just can’t,” she shared, suggesting that she’ll offer up candid critiques to Idol hopefuls. TheGreenKnight September 15 Share September 15 Very happy about Carrie being the new judge (especially considering I had been lectured earlier in the thread about how she supposedly had no interest, lol). I was hoping it woul be one of her, Jordin, or Fantasia. Plus, I think this works well with Katy's comments about keeping the chair warm; Carrie may only be interested in a season or two anyway. I also thought about it making the panel 2/3rd country, but I was sort of assuming a country contestant might be who they'll be looking for next season's winner to be anyway. Perhaps they could look for a country girl to win with Carrie being there and all, since she's the only country woman ever to win the show so far. It would be perfect timing. 1 Link to comment
Gemma Violet September 15 Share September 15 I meant to post this a few weeks ago and forgot. Clay and his family (including his son who made his TV debut) participated on Celebrity Family Feud and won. They played against David Foster's family. There were Fosters on both teams because Clay's son Parker is David Foster's nephew, i.e. Parker's mom is David's sister, so David was playing against his sister and his nephew. 3 Link to comment
