Davos, you didn't pay attention last year when Stannis schooled you on the difference between between/among. I know planning a war is time consuming so I'll overlook it this time.  And please find out what Melisanre did to Shireen and go postal on her.

Davos: Lady Mormont, we need your men to recapture Winterfell so there will be less Boltons to worry about when the Dead arrive....

Lady Mormont: Fewer

Davos: Begging your forgiveness milady, I'm a smuggler, not a dictionary. And I just learned to read last year.

Jon seems to have adjusted to rising from the dead pretty well.  He doesn't seem to be having any problems being alive after being stabbed, and his memory is intact.  He also isn't having any of his usual emo moments about it.  Nor does it appear to have given him any special super powers.  I'd expect something would change after resurrection, but it's like he never died in the first place.

He got a sense of humour and a smaller pecker....and a Mel makeover. Since he didn't see any afterlife, there was no epiphany or enlightenment or supernatural contact with Ned or Robb. So there was no catalyst for significant change. Also, Beric returns from the dead with essentially the same personality, albeit "slightly diminshed".

I will take Jon Snow's fairly straight forward resurrection over what other shows might inflict upon us. If, say, Joss Whedon were in charge, Jon would be working as Hot Pie's assistant and using his breaktime to have dumpster sex with Melisandre while she screamed about him knowing nothing. It might even be a musical. And I, for one, do not want to see a Jon Snow musical. Now, a Mace Tyrell musical... sure. But he's been practicing for it, while everybody else was busy with their actual story arcs...

Except Hot Pie and Mel would be recast...maybe Adam Baldwin & Alyson Hannigan...

The whole family? I'm referring to the bloodline. Since the official line is Tommen is a Baratheon, son of Robert, nephew of Renly's and Stannis, any succession would likely be traced back through their family.

Yes. They're dead.

About the Hound - someone had asked why didn't he hear the massacre.  Well one ear is severely burned and the other is the one Brienne bit off - so hearing would not be his best sense.

Given that the Hound is a twist on the fabled gallant knight, I wonder how he will treat women now.  He was almost killed by one, and the girl he had been protecting for quite a few months left him to die without putting him out of his misery, even though he pleaded for mercy.

That was quite a wack with the axe when he told Ray that it was a woman that tried to take him down.

I thought he did hear the massacre, he was just too far away to get there in time.  I clearly remember him hearing screams in the distance and then going to check out the problem.

A bit of a better episode but still mostly set up stuff though.

It's nice that it seems like Margaery is actually playing the long game now. I was worried there. Olenna is sensible to get out of King's Landing but I took delight in her reminding Cersei that she's an idiot though.

Jamie and Bronn just work brilliantly together as a character. The stuff with Edmure and the Blackfish was done pretty well in this episode.

I sense some conflict with Sansa and Jon. Both of them got schooled by Lyanna and only Davos was able to get through to her. Davos is a useful ally.

Arya needs to kill the Waif and get the hell out of Braavos and fast now.

Yara is gay. I have to admit, I didn't see that coming but I did like her speech to Theon though.

The Hound got a good return episode and Ian McShane's character was pretty great until he was hanged, 7/10

I don't think he can do this if she is still alive.

People keep saying this, but we've seen her face on the wall, and we've even seen someone wearing it once before. So, either Arya did die at one point already, and just doesn't know it, or, more likely, an ancestor whose face was nearly identical to Arya's was in the FM before, and that face is already in circulation among the FM. That would explain why the poisoned FM wore Arya's face briefly, and what it was doing on the wall, and how Jaquen could be running around the city wearing Arya's face. I'm sure he's got blocks of wood around his waist or something--sand, perhaps--with blood bags secreted in them. The real Arya is probably hanging out backstage, and we'll probably see her and the actors on a ship next.

I found the brothel scenes to be disgusting.  It's no longer enough for GOT to show tits, tits and more tits, but now they are progressing to showing us people licking and sucking tits?  It was really porny and gross.  It distracted me from the episode and not in a good way.

While a lot of it is unnecessary, I found it added a lot re: Yara's character.  Personally I have less issue with seeing tits on the screen than a head being squeezed and exploding, or someone's guts falling out of their body.

I approved Yara's lusty behavior and didn't find it gratuitous at all.  She probably wouldn't enjoy the same full measure of respect she's earned from the crew by being a badass on the water but going all demure at the afterparty.

With regards to Arya, I am dubious it was her.  I've never seen Arya walk with her hands behind her back, nor have I seen her so direct and aggressive with a flat tone.  That's more Jaqen to me.  The height is different, but the walk, the direct and somewhat flat expression (with the exception of that one glint/eyebrown lift and smirk) all said "not Arya" to me.  Personally, I think he of no name could see the envy and ego of the Waif and is setting her up.  I don't think he cares about WHO it is that's killed, just that another face is needed.  And I think the Waif is being tested just as much, if not more, than Arya.  She's had a bug up her ass since Arya arrived, and everything she's done (the fighting with Arya without being directed to do so, the petulance, etc) would seem to me to speak of HER not being ready to serve the many faced god.

Lady Olenna - how I love thee.  Let me count the ways!  Giving it so directly and succinctly to Cersi was just effing beautiful.  I hope it didn't give Cersi the idea to have her thrown in the stockades before she's able to leave (which I fear she might now that she has some kind of possible retribution for having the mic dropped down her on face) and that Olenna is able to get out to work with Margery.

With Margery, I could tell between her discussion with Loras and her shift in demeanor with the Sparrow King that she's playing the long game.  And I agree with the person who'd posted that they suspect HS is attracted to her and she's playing it.  When she sat down after having read from the Book of the Mother, she laid her hand palm up and slightly open... I took it as a subtle invite to the HS.  I don't know if he's aware of the game she's playing and has no interest in her, but is feigning to get more control of her, but I am personally thinking he has something for her.

I also agree with the posted who'd noted the Hound's 'inner boy' coming out at times.  I noticed his awkwardness clumsiness in brushing off the Septum's hand poking at where his leg had been broken.  I thought he must have accepted and started to trust Ian's character because he wasn't afraid of him, was kind and encouraging, and would even laugh at the Hound.  Sad we only got Ian for one episode.

I am hoping we have movement soon.  And that we get to see Tyrion and Varys again.  Did anyone else get the feeling that Dany is becoming more like the Mad King with her speeches?

You have some persuasive arguments.  My theory was just a writers' contrivance to draw out the Arya Delayed storyline and keep her lingering in Braavos with the theatre troupe and the many-faced threats, but yours is better.  I'll miss the payoff if Arya doesn't get to take down her bitter kitten rival, but Jaqen posing as Arya would be a neat twist.  We could all go back to being pro-Jaqen if he's ultimately taking care of young Lady Stark and feels disposed to let his little academy drop-out go deal with her Stark business.

If that really is Arya bleeding her way down Main Street, I'm not surprised no one helps her.  One coin was a ticket for assistance from "any man from Braavos" so the citizenry must be pretty tuned in to the HoBW.  Paging Lady Crane to the set, please.  She'll be the outsider to nurse Arya and they can be in danger together.

Ian McShane probably only wanted to do a one-off episode, a couple of days shooting and no more. Just having fun.

I can't wait to see him in American Gods!

Because I am late to the party, we saw him in American Gods first. I didn't expect him to show up in GOT.

Spoiler because it relates to American Gods:

Spoiler

I told my husband when he started talking about the Gods: "He should know. He is one!"

Yara and Theon were in Volantis, btw. That was the same beautiful bridge from last year, though they looked to be in a different brothel than the one where Jorah kidnapped Tyrion.

No doubt someone has already written fanfic featuring her meeting up with the Daenerys lookalike.
