A full uniform would be too time consuming along with not being practical as they're custom made, but just a pair of boots would be good! Even if they just had their picture taken in the boots it would surely make things more simple and not drag someone through half of training camp for no reason?

Are the TCCs/DCCs allowed to post pics from cameos?  Or is that considered a no-no?  Was hoping we'd see some sneak peeks at cameos today!

It would be too unsanitary to have that many girls try on various boot sizes.  Can you imagine how many sweaty feet would be going in to the same pair of boots? Who know what bacteria/fungus is lurking on their feet.  I know, gross, but I'm a nurse so I can't help but think of the potential issue there.

Hmmm that's true. But I guess it's no different to trying on a pair of shoes in a shop.. You get those special socks, right? Because I didn't mean dance in the boots, just try them on for the picture the girls always have taken at the end anyway, for the fan vote cover.

But either way, there has to be a better way of doing it than dragging someone through training camp then cutting them just because their legs are too short. Must suck

I've seen so little of Amy T I have no idea what her dancing is like. I'm guessing Kelli etc. love her because she has a fuller figure than just about any other DCC I've seen  (not fat, just much curvier) yet it hasn't bothered then one bit. She really seems to be the photographers favourite too.

Angela was curvy and to me Jen K does not have the typical DCC body either. I love them all. I believe it takes all types to make the world go round. lolol

I understand that K&J are trying to appeal to the audience but every person does not like the typical stick figure, blonde haired, blue eyed barbie. Mix it up pleeaassee!!

Shoot me down if I'm wrong, right, but I have a feeling the "Morgan" of this season might just be Kelsey.. Like be on the bubble for almost everything but scrape through based on other factors like personality and cameos.

I'll be soooo surprised if she didn't look amazing in her cameo today, the girl is gorgeous!

So most of us are pretty sure auto amy could be in trouble.. Any speculation as to who else may be in a bit of trouble?

Do they all have to try out show group? Do they also have to have a "talent"? I am pretty new at this.

They all have to participate in auditions but they can select not to be considered for SG  (i.e. like Carisa Rose in season 7; she chose not to be considered because she felt she needed to use extra time to work and support herself)

  • Love 1

Are we sure they're all required to participate in show group auditions? When has that ever been stated? It seems strange that they would want girls to audition who don't want to be considered for the group. What if one of them was really dynamite but she was off limits to put on show group? That would suck!

(edited)

I don't think they said anything about it being required last year when Loren did those awkward leaps. I think most of the girls audition though so it makes it seem like they all do.

Also Lauren's national anthem didn't sound great, but she did sing on show group. In particular I remember a trio with her, Cassie, and another girl that was posted years ago. Lauren was definitely a long time show group member so her singing audition wouldn't really indicate whether or not it's required.

No worse than bowling shoes too - make them wear socks, have a variety of sizes - snap a pic, next...

Right! I mean I'm a clean freak and a germaphobe but I could slip my feet into some boots real quick if it would save my time.

that is exactly what happened with Carisa though...remember when they met with her after one of the practices and she cried about family stuff and kelly said, 'is that why you didn't want to be considered for show group?'

Maybe they wanted all the girls to try out so they have something to film for the show. I know they have shown show group auditions before, but I do not remember anyone saying it was required.

I think it's more along this line, or at least to give the experience of auditioning.  And maybe if they don't want to be considered they only have to do the routine they learned and not across the floor, singing, etc. A current TCC told me that they are all to participate in SG auditions but can mark that they do not want to be considered for it this season. I did not ask for more details than that...

She has a good voice, but I would not call that an outstanding talent.

haha fair enough.  I honestly can't think of any super outstanding singers they've had though...well, Jordan could really belt it! Jasmine was pretty good too.  Did they even have anyone last year???

I remember that and Kelly was very surprised.  I do recall Kelly saying that episode they all had to audition.

Was that Lauren? One year it was Cassie, Britney and Sunni, and then they rotated in blond Jordan the sportscaster and Jasmine. Sarah Gurleyvwas in there ar one point prior. I don't think they've had a trio for a year or two.

It probably has changed on and off over the years.  All I know is that this year they are all supposed to participate but they can ask to not be considered for SG.

Sunni can sing well. Cassie could care a tune. Britney was good. Jasmjne could emote and make it look like she could sing.

I saw the video where Cassie sang Titanium while Megan McVay danced (USO) and I was shocked at how great Cassie sounded! It was just very pretty, right on pitch.  I was impressed!

I thought Jasmine really was pretty good...at least the clip they showed that one year (season 8?)

Right, so how does that mean she auditioned? Asking her about not wanting to be considered doesn't necessarily mean she auditioned. Obviously they observe the girls and start making notes on their technique before the SG auditions, and Carissa clearly had technique. I dunno, I'm just not convinced that they make everyone audition, especially since Kitty says they're not required to.

Yes. It wasn't the National Anthem. I wish I could find the video, but it's been years. It was Cassie and Lauren W and another blonde -- I want to say Brittany Shramm.

Cassie does have a decent voice, especially for harmony. She could sing a little, tumble a little, dance a little, etc. maybe more than a little lol. J get why she made show group.

meant to add both Britney's sang at some point - Evans (of course she could sing, she used to work for Disney and 'face' characters have to do it all) and Schramm.

I think I would want the training camp experience even if I was a long shot, correct leg length or no. If it's indeed a paying gig, you have three months of an intense dance job that gives great experience even if you don't make the team, plus some extra exposure from CMT.  I can see advantages from this little bit. That said, I think the boot try on isn't a bad idea. The show wouldn't be as interesting without cuts, though, and we do get to know some of the girls well in the storyline even if they're cut for drumstick thighs and lackluster dancing. I love the dance, but it's a tv show in the end.

I go back and forth with Belk. It's a major department store in the south, and I even did a little modeling for them waaaay back in the day (junior high, first bit of high school.) It's newer to the Dallas market, though, with their first store opening in McKinney (far north suburb) and then they took over the Saks spot at the Galleria when Saks left Dallas.  I like their tie in with the DCC and think it makes sense from a promotional point of view.

I also think their style sensibility makes sense for the south and is fairly true to what I see in junior league, church, sorority functions, etc  Southern women do tend to have a more mature sense of style, even at a young age, and particularly so at more society functions.

I started my career in the buying offices at Neiman Marcus and learned a lot about this in store allocations - David Yurman jewelry is a great example of youth and localization. It's a rite of passage to get a piece for your sweet 16 or high school graduation, but it's a more mature look and the average customer age goes way up in other parts of the country.  Seeing a 16 year old wearing two pieces of Yurman and a high neck, knee length, bright print on a teenager or your Floridian grandma sounds about right to me.

I had a grand time explaining all this to the Nordstrom buyers when I moved there for three years - we like our grandma fashion, okay? Light and bright!!

Me too for sure!  Can you imagine how it feels to see yourself in that uniform? The whole DCC makeover, uniform fitting and My goodness the Cameo gets my heart pumping for these girls!!! So few get that chance. I hope they take time time to "smell the roses" and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience ????

I'm a huge fan of Auto Amy and the rest of the girls who have been working year after year to reach their dream. With that being said, if they're being cut for legs that are too short or any other reason that cannot be changed, isn't that rather unfair to keep bringing them to TC and expecting a different result? Just seems kind of like beating a dead horse.

Does anyone else think they should make trying on a uniform part of the finals, making it part of their overall score?

Absolutely.

And no, I don't think the uniform should be a part of finals.

DCCs maybe..TCC (RC's) absolutely not.

That's exactly what it is. Solely for harmony. But her voice is cute.

When did getting David Yurman for your sweet 16 become a rite of passage???? I grew up upper middle class and my mom would've laughed her ass off at me if I'd asked for a piece of David  Yurman for my sweet 16. Perhaps for rich families, that's a thing. I'm not that old either... Out of high school less than 20 years.

I think your take on southern style is right... Although girls here (down 45 S from Dallas) tend to be a little edgier in their style in their 20s. I think it's because Houston and Austin are more diverse than Dallas.

I can't imagine wearing anything from Belk in my 20s. I was more of a Club Monaco/ Armani girl. But I do love my Lilly....

  • Love 1

I was in the galleria once and ran into belk looking for a dress last minute. I'm a tried and true southern girl and it look me FOREVER to find something I liked. I picked a cute Jessica Simpson summer dress. Orange and eyelet fabric. But I swear it was like finding a needle in a haystack. Everything was pricey considering somewhat out of style or too old lady-ish.

again, I'm in my twenties and friends with a few TCCs. We don't always wear lilly or something from our grandmas time respun for today. I think it definitely depends on the event. But yes I tend to be "preppier". But also when I go to uptown I'm not afraid not to wear a LBD bodycon.

  • Love 2

I definitely am not from the south, cause I had no idea what Belk was until I watched this show. Here in the north, I wear either yoga pants/capris/jean shorts/jeans after work or wear my nice Banana Republic/Ann Taylor outlet tops and NY&Co work pants for work. These girls have to dress so fashionable to ride an airplane and I'm just like...I'll be over here in my yoga pants and sweatshirt in the terminal.
