I am sorry, but we will agree to disagree. We need more men AND women who can act like the professionals they are paid lots of money to be. Not the boys and girls club that it has turned into with the hosts and regulars trading their inside jokes. Pee Wee’s Club House. Other guests be damned.

What I can give her no leeway on is how freaking close she sits to Joe, and how she mugs constantly.  Their physical proximity and the faces she makes are bizarre.

tbh I think when they do this it is nice and calm and normal, or at least better than when they are openly fighting, which is really really stressful and uncomfortable at 6 am 🥴

is anyone else traumatized by the fact that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BABY CARROTS

our whole lives have been a lie!!

*small voice* I also kinda a cried at the Kennedy thing. Because with the former guy there were things you could dismiss as anomaly, or insanity and there was this thought that at least it was all transcient and temporary...it's the normalization of cruelty by people who are fully conscious of what they are doing that is new and dark and weird and scary af. So yeah I teared up along with Mika on that one.

Friday mini recap with Cheetos.

Mika & Joe are in Washington.

Joe woke up at midnight & checked Twitter to see if he got any new followers. He saw that Kevin McCarthy was trending.

Joe couldn't believe that McCarthy was talking for so many hours.

Joe said Pelosi will pass the bill.

Adrienne Elrod was on set ! Mika doesn't believe the GOP has a future. Joe reminded Mika that Youngkin got elected in Virginia.

Stuff like this is the reason I stopped watching this show about a month ago. Haven't missed it at all. Chris Christie's rehab tour is nauseating. And of course, Joe and Mika love this guy and don't question him or push back at all when he says stuff that is just political word salad. I guess he's looking to run for President again ...even after he came in 6th in the first primary the last time and was rated the worst Governor ever of New Jersey.

Longtime viewers of Morning Joe remember when Mika & Joe were BFF's of Chris Christie.

Mika told viewers that she called Christie on the night before he decided not to run for president in 2012 . She urged him to run against Romney, but he wanted to remain Governor of NJ.

Mika & Joe defended him during the Bridgegate scandal in 2013.

I also remember when Mika organized a 5k run in Washington & tried to get Christie to run, but he wasn't in shape to do that & told her he couldn't do it because of his wife's birthday.

Recap continued.

Joe supports the SALT deduction for high income earners in NJ & NY.

Joe supports lower insulin prices & rebates on hearing aids. Joe said he need a new hearing aid.

Joe complained about Democrats repeating Trump's name to win votes.

Doesn't Morning Joe still talk about Trump on every show ?

Adrienne said The White House will address inflation. The cost of turkeys went up.

Eugene wants some oil released from the SPR. Joe wants lower gas taxes.

Mika poked Joe and wanted to discuss Greene getting her committee assignment backed.

Joe talked about being on committees when he was in Congress.

Joe used an old Southern accent to impersonate Congressman Floyd Spence . He lived on a plantation. He worked with other people in Congress even if they were from an other party.

Joe said McCarthy will never be Speaker of the House because Trump hates him.

The panel discussed the trials of Rittenhouse & Aubry.

They were not optimistic that Rittenhoue would be convicted.

Joe & Willie were supportive of Rev Sharpton bringing 300 pastors to the courthoue in Georgia to support the family. The judge said Sharpton couldn't be in the courthouse.

Eugene was upset that Aubry was killed for jogging in a neighborhood.

Joe is upset that there is only one black juror.

Mika held her Morning Joe mug with both hands.

Mika said she would watch Politics Nation this weekend.

Joe invited his nemesis Sean Patrick Maloney to the table panel. He told a joke about not wanting to spend the night with McCarthy. Mika started cackling & they witched to talking to Heilman.

This is exactly why I don't see her as "a fresh perspective". She's been under Mika's wing for so long I don't expect anything new or profound that goes against the established "You're absolutely right, Mika" meme. It would be a positive though, if they use her as sub/replacement for Mika...though given Joe's dalliances, I don't know if Mika would stand for it. Maybe they'll bring her on for awhile and then move her to Mika's Peacock thing...given Mika's weaknesses as a host, Daniela may be good support.

You nailed it.  Maybe Daniela is good, she could be, but just because Mika is going on about her makes me side-eye the whole operation. I feel like if I were her mother (I’m only 43), I’d feel annoyed and bothered. But maybe Daniela’s mom hasn’t been up watching Morning Joe at random 3ams for the past 14 years 😖 like me. Ha.

Neona, I tried to introduce a RL friend to Morning Joe a few years ago, and it ended when she saw Mika on the table! The posing on the table.  My friend wouldn’t watch these two!

I keep writing Minka instead of Mika because that’s my cat’s name.

I’m sorry. I just said I was 43? According to wiki Adrienne Elrod is 45. That cannot be right.  Right??

ETA: IMHO I think it’s awesome to own your age. Chris Jansing is 64!

agggh. ok, yes, I didn't watch from the beginning by reason of being a teenager then and also not here, but even so, part of the reason I love this show is, I've seen tons and tons of clips on teh youtube, and this show used to be fun, weird, badass, irreverent and a totally unusual thing 🥴 and there are sometimes still glimpses of it and I'll never understand why they decided to become this wholly different sad depressing other thing. That is all.

Sorry, my third post. Neona, did you ever see the clip where they were replaying a David Letterman clip, which instead of the Mary Tyler Moore show they made it about Dick Cheney?  Mika laughed so hard she laughed right to the commercial break, and on the other side of the commercial break she was still laughing!  Oh it was funny…I was laughing because she was so relevant…where even if something is not that funny you cannot stop laughing?

Mika recently made a comment that Liz Cheney wasn’t impressed with something in the past and I’m going to guess this was it!  Sorry not sorry, it was hilarious 🤣

Anyone remember, way back, when they did the bit on The Furries? Both Twins completely lost it, especially Mika. The laughing was infectious and was out of control. In a really fun way.

Yes I remember that too!  That time Mika just ran out right out of the room.

ETA: I’m so curious now but I’d guess that was more recent, and now I want to find out. I think that was maybe like 2015-ish, when the Dick Cheney thing must’ve been 2009 or so. I remember I showed my grandma the Dick Cheney/MTM clip because she would remember the show and my grandma was just like “I really like that woman!” about Mika.

They were huddling around a mother and tiny baby, to keep them warm.   Several people also gave them jackets, and blankets to keep warm.

Mika's reaction when the one or both of the men explained what a furry is, is so good.    I'm assuming she finally was dragged back to the set.

I always like to hear if someone got married or had a baby, but that’s the really extent I want to hear about everyone’s personal lives. I don’t need or want to hear about what people are doing for Thanksgiving, it’s weird and awkward, not to mention boring and all a variation of the same thing so who cares?

Joe/Mika and co. convey the news, they aren’t the news themselves. Sheesh! Over it.

ETA: so the ending was cute when Joe was like “it’s our anniversary so I’m going to let Mika go to Chick-Fil-A and introduce her to [some kind of betting game]”.  It’s about them but it was a joke…so that was nice to see.  I like happy Joe and Mika!

I’m Cdn as well but not near Oakville.  Our thanksgiving is like the second Monday in October and it’s not even close to a big deal here.  We do nothing for Thanksgiving. American Thanksgiving seems bigger than Christmas!

I like Kurt Andersen as a guest, but this conversation about interaction across our real or perceived borders seems a little...condescending? Kind of like MJ's positioning after the Rittenhouse verdict. And Joe's ability to see the good in all is easier to adopt when you can choose to move out of your hometown and into three of the wealthiest counties in America.

Also - frequenting Paris over Staten Island is not elitism, it's simply common sense.

It manages to be both condescending and infuriating. First of all, don’t position the people of Appalachia as zoo animals that need to be interacted with in their “natural habitat.” I don’t agree with them politically, but, sheesh!

Secondly, why is the onus always on progressives to do this sort of outreach? Why are we always forced to listen to MSM reporters on the scene at a West Virginia diner? When is Tucker Carlson going to visit a hipster coffee bar in Seattle or Portland and report on HIS epiphanies?

Edit: I love the Mika/furries clip because it makes them all seem endearing and human. Sadly, my phone started auto playing it at full volume while I am sitting in the waiting room at my car dealership and I couldn’t turn it down in time….

Got some odd looks to say the least!

I haven't watched the show in a few days.

What did Joe say about the Rittenhouse verdict ?

I know that Joe called him a thug while the trial was going on. He also had to issue a retraction on air & twitter when he said that Kyle's gun was able to fire 60 rounds of ammunition per minute which is wrong.

Rittenhouse's lawyer also complained about Joe's other inaccurate statements about the trial.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10228387/Rittenhouse-lawyer-slams-CNN-MSNBC-botching-basic-facts-case.html

It's a shame because Joe did consider himself to be one of America's top criminal defense lawyers before he ran for Congress.

On one show, Joe told Mika that he used to watch Matlock when he was in law school. His professors at the University of Alabama were amazed at how successful Joe was in mock trials .

Joe used an exaggerated Southern accent to convince the juries that his clients were innocent.

Joe & company basically wagged a collective finger at their audience, saying we need to accept the jury's verdict; this has since been followed with a 'if you dont like things, change the law' roll for the past few days.

What aggravated me about this attitude is that MJ has covered how the Rittenhouse trial was a fiasco from the start. And I dont believe MJ ever mentioned that the judge banned MSNBC from the courtroom.

Happy Thanksgiving !

Mika started off the show by saying that the show was a special edition pre taped.

Joe said Thanksgiving stuffing was great & made fun of viewers that complained a few years ago when they pretended to be live but were on tape.

This is the Morning Joe tradition of insulting their viewers & critics. I raise a fistful of Cheetos to you Joe !

First up Woodward & Costa's book Peril from September 21 . !

Mark Milley called the Chinese to tell them not to start a war during the final days of the Trump administration.

Trump opened the doors at the White House on January 5th & let Pence hear the protestors.

Trump wanted to kill the Biden Presidency in the crib ! Yikes !

Joe said Nixon was drunk in 1973 & they wouldn't let him speak to foreign leaders while being intoxicated.

Dan Quayle told Pence he couldn't stop the certification. He saved the Republic.

Joe admitted to being cordial with Trump when he was the host of the Apprentice on  NBC.

Costa talked about his interview with Trump in March 06.

Joe said many people didn't believe that Trump could win.

Joe said he was mocked for thinking that Trump could win the Presidency in 2016.

Joe is the Nostradamus of political pundits.

Woodward said Trump only cares about himself.

Oakville - thank you SO much for the recap.😏 Happy roast beef or wings. The turkey is ready to be stuffed; it is also waiting to somehow mock me … maybe still a bit frozen .. maybe waiting to slip from my hands onto the floor. You know, the usual turkey hijinks. We will toast Mr. Kemper with wine and/or a wee bit of whiskey. He will appreciate it.

Sadly, I have gotten out of the MJ habit…will try and drop in to Pee Wee’s Playhouse more often. So today was “greatest hits” day -I actually would have enjoyed some of the clips. They really can have some of the best guests (not The Playhouse ones); could that be due to Daniela? The Furries…seems decades ago.  I guess politics and the world have gotten much more serious (and darker) since then. I think on-air pundits/analysts should not be too cozy or be besties with the people they are covering. But MJ  can sometimes still be a good watch. Joe’s soliloquies notwithstanding.

I wish Jon Stewart was still host of the Daily Show. He would have skewered Mika & Joe's revisionist view of their relationship with President Trump by showing clips of them joking with Trump throughout the years.

I was amused when Donald Trump's son blasted Joe on Twitter last year for his frequent complimentary stays  at Mar A Largo with his kids.

Joe should admit to viewers that he is a cheapskate.

Joe pretends that he was forced to meet with Trump.

I loved the Thanksgiving trolling thingy, it was a cute tradition, and they only changed it like 2 years ago when some dumbass at the Dailycaller wrote an article pretending they were "deceiving" viewers. FFS! and then they had to go like "we're on tape!!!" just to accommodate that one dude who obviously knew that and probably doesn't even like or watch the show.... idk why there's always a focus on trolling teh trolls rather than putting on the best possible show for ordinary humans 🥴

I enjoy watching football today.

I also like watching the Christmas movies on the the Canadian version of the Hallmark Channel at this time of year .

I didn't finish watching the rest of today's Morning Joe but will keep it to recap later.

I hope someone does write a book about this show when it ends.

Mika & Joe's cozy relationship with some political figures is unique on cable tv.

Almost every politician that they get become involved with on a personal level ends up getting involved in scandals.

The issue was not that the show was pre-taped for the day after Thanksgiving (not *on* Thanksgiving, Joe), but that they were pretending they had already eaten "Brzezinski’s theoretical turkey" (a great phrase):

Thanks to everyone who recaps or comments on the day-to-day antics of MJ - so many funny, talented, astute viewers. With everyone combined, the entire show gets watched. They do still get good ratings, so we can have months - maybe years of viewing. Or at least until they elect not to do it anymore.

I am pretty sure that this incident happened before Joe became a columnist at the Washington Post. Mika would read his columns to viewers on a regular basis.

I have noticed that Joe hasn't written a column for the Post in a few months.

Wet blanket and my fed-up-ness with The Twins. And just my opinion. There is nothing spontaneous,  creative, or generous about Our Twins. They love being talked about, even criticized by people - it gives them, Joe especially, a chance to deliver a well-rehearsed, pre-written clever comeback. In some ways Meeka is worse because there is nothing authentic about her on-air. In private she seems to have true friends. Both Twins have their schtick. And a lot of the time we are here for it; it can be entertaining; and Joe can be funny, sometimes off-the-cuff - that is when you see his eyes beading up and darting while he creates the comeback gotcha. Kind of like thought-bubbles floating off the top of his head. Take this with a grain of salt - I am old and cynical.
